So many Christmas cards and I didn't see any duplicates...amazing how many there are! Those turkeys are so funny and the rooster competing with them lol...It was a huge/big deal and hearing you recount it just makes me shiver....tough time had by all. Your generosity of offering the cottage to Jed is huge. Makes this momma's heart happy. Truly was a Random Act of Kindness that totally caught him off guard :) tis the season...love you all

Have you considered becoming a Harvest Host ? People could come in their RV and park overnight, the expectation is that they will shop in your store and enjoy your farm.

As a family that lived with my Hubby's father, in his house, for 9 years... I totally understand the "need space" thing. As much as you love each other--- A family needs their space and a grown man needs his space. The cottage was a great solution for everyone.

That’s great for both of you. As long as he’s willing to help you absolutely let him live in it and make it a home. I have 10 acres and it’s a lot of work, I only have gardens and small animals, no large farm animals but it’s still hard and this is one thing I know I will have to look at in the future as I am 61 and going blind. Family is great! Hugs, love, and lots of prayers from Texas!

We only have family. They should always come first. Family should help each other and never take advantage of family but help out when they can. Just wish I had family.

That's great Jed is in the BNB. I thought that would happen when Granny K moved out. Plans never stop when you have a homestead. When one door closes there is many windows that open. Owning a homestead, income is mostly unreliable. Therefore plans are always forming in your head of "what's next"? Your children also need an outlet of planning, you might consider they too young at the moment, but the younger they start it becomes second nature to do. I'm sure your family will find more avenues and paths to make income. God does bless those who think of others rather than themselves.

Have you all ever thought about letting people come and camp at your homestead? Off grid of course. I use to camp in my van and LOVED it and I was completely self sufficient. Could go any where and had everything I needed for a fun time. You wouldn't make as much as the AirB&B of course but it would help some and you would still be able to meet new and neat people....just a thought. I so enjoyed meeting you guys at the HOA this year and yes the tinture I bought from you has helped me for sure

Yes! be a Harvest Host destination. It's similar to the concept you had envisioned when people would book the cottage on Airbnb.

I think you made the right decision to have Jed live in the other house! In this day and age it is ever so important to have family near to help and be there to protect the Homestead! I pray for God's peace, wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be over the whole family to work together to make the Family Homestead flourish! I pray that Jed will help you out whenever you both need it whether it be for helping with building infrastructure or for growing food! Great decision. You still having an amazing Caravan that people would love to Air B & B as some are thinking of buying land like K&S Getout living in their camper and starting to clear the land with Goats organise water, sewage and power. Your could then still book it out for your own family holidays but give people an authentic experience mate.

It is hard to have to make major changes. When I moved to country, I had a rose colored picture of what it woud be. Reality has set in. hugs. Give when you can. Yes. Family is important. Just told my Aunt that a few days ago. She comes first. God, Family, Neighbors. Merry Christmas.

I have always said compound for and with my family for about 20 yrs now. But no one is picking up what I’m putting down. My kids being around your age just aren’t there yet. I do have my 91 year old mom with me after dad passed. And until recently I had my brother who just turned 69 here as well. So I hear you. Love love love you guys. I love hearing your opinions. I love hearing how God is blessing you and you are blessing others. It can’t get any better than that!!!

I know the feeling a few years ago my mom ask me and my husband to move in with her to help take care of the 5 acre property our kids were grown up and it started out great, But now mt bro ther is living here with his teenage Son ,He really doesn't help much and it makes it difficult on us . Praying to the Good lord on what to do I am under treatment for lung cancer and it makes it hard my husband works a full time job and is the only one who does work around here, my mother is 86 yrs old and she takes no authority to do something about this situation so what ever the good lord leads us is what we will do. Do not like being taken advantage of by family and that is what is happening. He is not a help at all. God will show us what to do. God bless you and your family

Hey, good move! Family needs to take care of family, especially nowadays. My son and daughterinlaw are looking for a place now. I believe that family is first. I think it is great that he is going to be staying in the house. A lived in house is a house that lives longer. This still builds family. That would be my dream… but I did not push to make it happen when I was younger.Merry Christmas!
