With as many chickens as you have, if you had a separate small area fenced for them when a hen goes broody they could hatch their eggs and then raise the chicks themselves without the other hens killing them.
Roxi, did you know you can crack eggs into ice cube trays, freeze them, then put in air-tight jars or bags and keep in freezer until you need them. We get 27 eggs a days. So I make breakfast burritoes,, quiesh , breakfast sandwiches, breakfast bowls, freeze all of them after. I know you guy do prep meals, and this is a good way to use alot of eggs when your overflowing with them
Roxanne have Anthony go watch ‘cog hill farm’ the episode where they built their EGG STAND. They have it out near the road. It’s on an honor basis. The eggs are in an ice chest with frozen packs in them and I think they’re four dollars a dozen and they’re sold out every single day.
Good morning your Homestead looks fabulous. It looks so good and I know you’re doing so much more. but talking about your eggs, maybe it’s time to downsize on your chickens and that’s what I’m thinking about a lot of these homesteaders. They have so many chickens that they don’t know what to do. unless you’re gonna sell I would downsize and only have enough chickens just for you and your family but not as many as you’re getting now that’s crazy. I don’t mean that in a bad way, the variety of chickens are beautiful. They all have their different colors and and it’s just neat. I get that but if your haveing to be throwing away eggs or get overwhelmed, what’s the purpose? Aside from the eggs, you guys are doing great. I love your homestead. I love to see all the changes and additions that you’re doing to it. You guys have come along way I have followed you for the beginning I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. ❤
Your homestead looks amazing. Your hard work has paid off for sure. Enjoy watching your channel here in Michigan. I also enjoy watching the framily channels. Thanks for your service to you both. 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸
Hi Rox & Ant!! WOW I never knew a chicken could refuse to leave her nest and literally starve herself to death. Thats very strange. Hope you both have a great day and a wonderful weekend!! 💜
Look at the poor emus, the male sits on the eggs for I think 8 weeks only getting up to turn the eggs. They don’t eat drink or defecate and lose up to 1/3 of their body weight. Good thing chickens don’t have to sit that long.
Just an fyi..you can throw the eggs down for the chickens..they will eat them shells and all..just make sure they break..it strengthens their laying egg shells and adds protein to their diets
Hair ball food will stop the throwing up hairball. It sure did help my cat. I was told it has shards of glass in it but doesn't hurt the cat. I give mine about 1 quarter cup every other day. Works wounder. Your homestead is getting nicer and nicer.
I have hoped that you would consider a sponsorship from Harvest Rite freeze dryers once you get your Pantry Storage completed. Between the extra eggs and the garden produce you might really enjoy it. 🤩🤩🤩
if you get 4 goats they keep your yard grass short 2 acre yard fence in primeter fence it suggestion down the road project and you can feed your dogs them eggs
Sell the eggs at the end of your driveway atleast you wont be wasting them. Feed them to the chickens and dogs and cats. 6 hens is plenty to have 6 eggs a day. Give Mary & Gary 6 hens, or Jen & Wiley that way everyone gets eggs and not to many.
Do yall have one of those freeze dry machines? If not, you should look into getting one. You could freeze dry the eggs for hard times AND you could freeze dry lots if other stuff. Misty, over at The Mac's, freeze dries everything and stores the stuff of vacuum bags. Lasts for years. That might be part of your pantry plans, but if it isn't, it's a thing to think of. I think those machines are pretty pricey but in the long run, so worth it. I had an Oldsmobile Delta 88 years ago. Her name was Big Bertha. That was one of the best used car purchases I ever made. If gas wasn't so expensive, thank you current administration, I would look for another one. Yall sleep in in the morning. You've been busy little bees this week. Enjoy some down time. ❤Stay motivated❤ 🐣🥚🐐🐔🐓🐕🐈🐇👩🌾👨🌾
he probly figuring out where to build the goat enclosure on property this suggestion its going be expensive suggestion might be down the road project build perimeter fence for animals' dogs and goats to roam freely in large yard
I know you guys are sick of eggs....lol Have you thought of dehydrating them and then putting them in jars and vacuum sealing them? That's an idea. Takes up less room too. Love what you two are doing. Your homestead is beautiful. Your bunnies are getting old enough to start breeding. Hopefully you don't have the males and females together.
