As I’ve delved deeper into fighting games I’m starting to realize that I instinctually do some of these things like how noticing how my spacing affects certain moves on offense and defense but having videos like this help me to organize, for lack of a better word, those instincts so I can start training those skills instead of solely relying on instincts. Another great video as usual! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I'm thrilled to hear that the video is helping you organize and refine your instincts! 🎮 Instincts are powerful, and with deliberate training, we can hone them to become even more effective. By understanding and practicing these concepts, you’ll be able to rely on your instincts more confidently during matches. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the support! 🙌🏾 #Tekken8 #FGC #GamingTips
Great video. I never understood why side stepping failed in certain scenarios. I love to run up in your face, throw a jab, then side step snake edge with Feng, but it doesn't always work. I now must find my ideal jab range lol.
Now this is distance/space control. Many people think that means you should just KBD all day long until your opponent gets bored enough to whiff or something, but this principle really shows how you can force the issue outright on your own terms to create a whiff if your opponent isn't in the know and just looks at frame data in a vacuum. Another great tip from a great teacher. Your philosophy and approach is so good. Really encourages people to learn on a deep fundamental level instead of getting "cheap" wins. Gotta say though, the audio quality was quite distracting, I hope you find a way to improve that. I'm sure that I'm more annoyed by that than most, and I hate to be a stickler, but it got pretty bad a few times throughout this and made it difficult for me to focus. Keep it up tricky!
It does really matter which word to use though in the aspect of frames vs space. What you're doing has nothing to do with frames, because the frame advantage indicator is still indicating a plus two advantage. You're simply hitting your opponent on the tip of your hitbox forcing them to be further away. You're not more plus, the opponent is just further out of range where they hit you on a later active frame, which is what some Tekken players call a 'shallow hit' The problem is that this creates the perception that you do factually have more frame advantage which is going to be a real sour day for the person that gets clapped by moves that reach far enough to actually punish the non-changing frame data. There's already a lot of misinformation in the fgc, please be responsible in what you teach people :)
It’s both at the same time. You would still lose to the frames if you had attacked as you see in the video. It’s not simply spacing or frames. It’s using both at the same time. Frames are still the basis of the game state. There aren’t enough frames for you opponent to chase you down and hit you with their attacks until they commit a harder read to reach you with longer range and slower framed attacks. You’re free to call it what you want but I can argue for it being frames like I showed.
Eh Bryan f3 has different frame advantage based on how far you hit it, it’s cause it has more active frames, but the same sort of principle exists. A -14 move ob that’s blocked at max range isn’t as punishable as a it being blocked at close range, so it kind of emulates being safe
@@TheJackson4eva yes that’s a different situation. There you’re hitting on later active frames which is why your frames change cuz blockstun is consistent. I get what you’re trying to say but I don’t think what I’m saying is getting across.
@@TrickyEileen oh no definitely it's getting across! I understand your perspective definately! I think it's an abstract thinking concept that's probably best avoided when learning to understand fighting games and frame data. In this instance i'd probably explain it by saying the opponent is hitting YOU on a later active frame because of the spacing. It can be an important concept for certain pokes but it's good to emphasize that in most of these situations you're not technically more plus unless you're hitting something like king's charge on a later active frame.
This game has way too much. Which moves can be sidestepped, which moves need to be side-walked, which direction do you need to go, how minus can you be, how far away from the opponent are you, how far does an opponent's move push you out, what did they eat for breakfast, what's their mother's maiden name, how many graduates were in their high school class?
But mostly everything has 2 ways to deal with it. An optimal way and a decent way. As long as you aren’t tryna win evo just go with the decent way 🤷🏾♂️
