after watching all 28 episodes, i can now fully understand why Main Source readers said that despite dying in episode one, Himmel is ranked FAN FAVORITE NUMBER ONE. even in death, he has had such a huge presence throughout the series. now this is how a Hero is supposed to feel.
The most Main character energy from a side character I’ve ever seen in any media. Also one of the best written. He’s not a goody two shoes like supermen who just does things to be the hero, he admits sometimes it’s for himself and wants to be remembered by people who he helped
@Trabsol he reminds me a lot of Wolfgang Grimmer from Monster. Had a tough upbringing but still devoted himself to doing good for the world, not entirely for good, but to see what he could bring to the world and pay it back.
@@Oakland510 Himmel was like the main character of his own series, and this series is the "sequel" to that one where we follow the enigmatic mage that was his nigh-immortal love interest. It's such an interesting concept.
I like how Himmel talking to us about goodbye in the end of it, breaking the 4th wall..He was right about the awkwardness to say goodbye on season 1 when we will met again in season 2 later on for the next journey if we continue travelling. So, keep our real life busy with the commitment we have and enjoy as much the journey as Frieren do..
Also he said he doesn't do tearful goodbyes as it would be embarrassing to meet them next time, but if we recall, frieren cried when himmel passed, it would be embarrassing to her when they meet once in after life
Lernen, the First Class mage that saw through Frieren's mana and tried to pick a fight with her, is Ehre's grandfather. In the end credits you can see her introducing her exame group to him. Ehre is the mage in Wirble's group who fought Fern in the first exam, and said fighting Fern felt like fighting her grandfather. That's some pretty high praise. Reply
Series banning Frieren for a thousand years sounds like a very tsundere way of saying that she actually wants Frieren to visit her again in another thousand years.🤣
There was a comment on another video which basically said that Serie banning Frieren for a thousand years, is another way to make sure nobody forgets her, so Frieren will technically never be alone in the future, and will be remembered by the Mage's Association even if her heroic deeds are forgotten.
tbh, the more i think about it, the more Serie become a tsundere for me. i mean, she dislike Frieren, but remeber that emblem only given to greatest mages, if it was Serie who gave it, it means she admit Frieren's talent and strength. ofc it could be Flame giving it...
if Serie expected Frieren to become like Wirbel, then she's not as wise as you think. when they meet first time Serie said there is no ambitions in her. who would expect her to become super practical combat oriented mage? she HOPED Frieren become like that, but its just dumb, even Flame said Frieren is different from both of them. and actually, the fact she didn't become like Wirbel is even worse for demons. Frieren's biggest strength comes not from her spells or her insane manapool, not even from mana concealing mastery. it comes from her ability to understand magic. remember Qual and Aura. also, spoiler alert, another of 7, Bose, caught thir party in his "unbreakable" barrier, but Frieren anilizeed and despelled it and then they killed Boze. and spoiler alert 2, same for Macht, she will make his magic to poof too. 4 of 7 sages of destuction meet the day thier magic they were advancing whole thier lives, become completely useless because of Frieren. this thing make her way more scary than her huge aura or all her spells in ep.25-26. as long as she alive, demons doomed, and being an elf makes them doomed forever. but only Solitar and may be demon king fugured it out, and then died...
You know a anime is great when it doesn't need non-stop action every second of every episode. Every episode here delivered - even if it was just story or character building. 10/10 easy.
Agreed. Out of all the new anime that's been out, Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries have been the ones I've looked forward to the most each week. Frieren and Maomao are like my spirit animals.
It’s my first time crying to an anime because it’s just ended. I literally feel so depressed that it made me sick today, like for real. I literally still cry if I think about it. This anime is so important to me. Thanks for your reactions, I’ve watched over 700 anime but this is my favorite anime of all time.
It’s honestly an OP power. He’s not even restricted to location limit in terms of being close to his clone. Man can send multiple clones across the continent for jobs and rake in easy money
@@Oakland510, its more OP because his clone can go do the job, while he himself out of danger. even if her meet an enemy way beyong him, his clone will die, but he's be unharmed.
@@Circle9ru yeah and I don’t think it’s stated if he has a limit of how many clones he can make, perhaps it is limited to his mana output, because if not…he would be beyond the level of other mages
Thank you for your reactiona guys, this was my favorite anime of last year and one of my favorites of all time, I really hope season 2 comes out as soon as possible.
Frieren really hit a sweet spot that these shounen and isekai series have missed. A wholesome, comfy classic fantasy. This show was like a cup of warm tea on a cold and rainy day.
Frieren was such a surprise and was probably the best anime this past season. The only other anime that compares from the same season in my opinion is Apothecary Diaries, which only lacked fights.

It's crazy to think that fern, ubel and Land is in the same party in the 1st test. I mean it's an OP team. all of them passed the 1st class mage certificate.
Beside methode mommy energy, she's actually OP she can do all kind of magic and there is another revelation about her On the other hand Frieren existence is just to spite serie and land is a fakin troll 😂
Frieren is the only anime for a long time where it got me excited every week again waiting for the next episode. Before, I'm pretty much tired of watching anime for many years because i've watched so many now. I've been watching continously for almost 20 years and probably have watched 1000+ animes. Even back when i was 4 years in watching anime, I'm already tired of watching lol. The only reason why i didn't stop watching is because anime for me is the greatest entertainment for killing time. Also the reason why i got tired of watching anime is because almost all of them are following the same trope over and over again. That's why even popular animes now like MHA, JJK, solo leveling, demon slayer, etc. I can't even finish those because of how many generic tropes they have. I mean it make sense, why change it if it still works right? I can't even finish most of anime now i just ended up just watching 2 or 3 episodes and get bored and i immediately stop watching. That's why I'm happy that watching frieren somehow made me feel the joy of watching anime again.
Lernen is the first person that actually managed to injure Frieren aside from her own clone. Shows how strong he is. He is also the guy that invented the rescue Golems if you didnt get that yet.

I heard this is the best story ever made. Wow. I waited till it’s over. Wonder why it took till anime for people to goat it. It surpassed berserk and one piece for most people as best written. Heard it’s better than attack on titan and stuff.
Welp, I don't think it's the best ever made.. People are hyping Freiren so much up but the concepts are pretty basic and it's not something another stories haven't come up or even told before.. What I could agree it has a very strong writing that even a simple reader / watcher could understand (or relate). It's all about the showmanship, the delivery. But tales about heroes, elfs, magic and demon king.. they aren't even knew.
Cool. I know its not shonen but from afar it looks like one just more on the slice of life side. I was wondering what made people love it so much when the manga existed and they could have hyped that for all this time but didnt. Seems like the execution was good. I think that matters more than people think. Unique stories do exist, (opposed to what people claim, not everything is done already, unless you boil it to broad strokes). But unique ideas often dont last or arent as super appealing as something familiar hence why we get so many sequel movies vs new stuff. I also see your point, simple stories that are easy to follow and written so it doesnt annoy you or make plot holes or logic issues (what i reclaimed as what people mean when they say good writing) On that note, I know people cry that any show that's shonen with good animation is carried by it. What made this so different that they dont say carried by animation and production.
@@naknampucha5236 On paper the story seems ok i guess. I havent watched yet cause even if people hype something if on paper its ok interest wise for you from the summary you may not like it. I could say this new movie about barbie is the greatest but doesnt mean a dude who hates barbie and only watches sports movies will rush and enjoy it. For the people who like this type of series i get why they said its the greatest story ever made. From what i gathered its a story about a one punch man like powerful person with the same emotional journey where strength doesnt matter but feeling melancholy about lost time with friends and then you insert the video game like world/lord of the rings magic background people enjoy (me too sometimes) and some long deep discussions about the meaning of life perhaps (havent watched any), a few crazy animated fights, and a cast that's funny??? Is there more to it. Seems ok but that's what i thought was the hype so i just said ill wait till it ends. Already invested in a ton of main line series lol dont wanna jump into one that consumes me if it truly is the greatest story made. On MAL it beat all other stories so it must be special those reviewers are harsh.
I feel like the kind of 1st grade sorcerers the Serie is trying to push through are people that have the strength obviously and people that can imagine the thought of fighting her n possibly beating her, even if it may be far in their future or slim chance. Because, forgive me i havent read the manga yet, but there are human mages as strong as Serie correct?
No. There are no mages remotely close to her in strength. You see her in combat in s2, if it comes out. All the 1st class mages use magic gifted by Serie.
@@brunomarques7713 oh ok. I was just wondering cause it seemed like she only wants people who hold the 1st class mage title to be able to, or at least have the thought, fighting mages her strength. Or at least close to her strength since no one is close to her
@@mmmmouth Fern is possibly the only current mage with this potential, and she is a kid. Serie is probably unreachable by normal means anyway. The only other character, that we know of, that could come "close" is Frieren if she tried (and we know that would ruin the narrative).
No one can reach Serie’s level because she is near immortal and has lived so long. I’m confused why she thinks it’s a shock her HUMAN students who live at best 70 years couldn’t reach her 1000000 year level
@@Oakland510 It's because Serie jumpstarts them. The magic she gifts them would usually take decades to master (and come with all her own experience with it). It allows her students to research beyond her own knowledge and discover new things. But none of them do, they barely ever even master the magic as Serie expects them to. She isn't talking about raw magic power. She then relearns the magic in it's improved state without pre conceptions about how to use it (she forgets the magic she gifts).
