#2. A great pizza should not be too expensive, some restaurants put truffle on everything and think that makes it better, which it don't have to be. The cheap one, you get what you paid for.

I liked the squash blossom pizza the best. Truffles are great, but they stand alone and make anything taste delicious. The $5 pizza looked good, just didn't stand a chance against #2.

Vincenzo what are you saying? White truffle is way better than perigold truffle! The white one is way more intense., it has by far the most flavour. For the pizza, would go for the 2nd one. 😋

That squash blossom and burrata pizza at Mozza is legitimately incredible. It is one they've kept for their whole history, while changing some others. Also, it does have passata on it.

I put olive oil on my crust also - two reasons, it really helps golden the crust, and it helps create a barrier that any wayward sauce or cheese doesn't wanna climb while cooking.

@@vincenzosplate whilst living in L.A, back in the early 1990’s, I was a broke student and aspiring musician, then in my early 20’s - so the short answer is no, I never dined at Spago! However - Years later, I had tried Wolfgang’s restaurant in Orlando Florida, which had both formal and informal dining. On the menu was an extravagant pizza topped made with crème fraiche, sheets of smoked salmon, caviar and chives. Also a decadent tart flambé (Flammekueche) Alsatian thin crust pizza made with crème fraiche, speck (smoked ham), shallot mince and rosemary - quite good

I went to Spago in Budapest; there they have a “pizza” that is topped with smoked salmon and caviar. It is very good, but I don’t understand it as a “pizza” - to me it’s something a drunk Michelin chef makes after a night out or as a hangover meal :)

Usually swap between Pizza Margherita, Pepperoni Pizza, Diavola Pizza. But if I fancy something different then I’ll have the odd Chicken Pizza, not the best but it’s ok if you’re after a change

Great video chef! 😉 Chicken on pizza... I wish I could share the picture of my homemade Buffalo Chicken Pizza on the comment section. Chef, your probably going to call it a hot sandwich. Lol! But it is so delicious! (I put herbs and garlic in my pizza dough, when baked, not thin, but not too thick, so soft, lots of flavor.) After I stretch out my dough, I put extra virgin olive oil, asiago, parmesan, provolone cheese, off the bone shredded chicken, a sprinkle of minced celery, real mozzarella cheese, sauteed onions, sliced black olives, then bake on a baking stone in my oven. When done, I drizzle homemade buffalo sauce over the pizza and brush butter on the crust. 😋 It's my son's favorite pizza. 🤗 My husband's favorite is easy, pepperoni pizza. Lol! Mine I call Greek pizza... homemade pesto sauce (with pistachios not pine nuts) first, parmesan and fresh mozzarella cheese, off the bone shredded chicken, spinach, sweet basil, kalamata olives, feta cheese, sauteed onions. 😍😋 Soppressata is a good substitute for chicken on it too. It's fun to experiment with different ingredients and find out what works and doesn't on pizza. I have food allergies, shellfish, mushrooms. So the middle pizza would be my favorite in that video, and I agree with you about the cheese. 😁😉 God bless from Kentucky, one pizza lover to another. 🍕✝️🇺🇸

Brought some truffles in olive oil and some real truffle olive oil back from Tuscany. My best friend's family and my sister love it. My family doesn't care for it. I'm ok with it. Skip the truffle oils here in the US. They're made with a chemical that mimics the truffle flavor, but without the depth. They have a musky garlic like flavor, and a little goes a long way. Good with french fries, eggs, or cheesy pastas.

The danger of using shredded mozzarella is that it will cook too fast compared to the crust and burn at over 400 degrees Celsius. I would use what is called "Cubetti" instead. Larger cubes will handle the cooking temperatures better. Another trick I was taught by a Naples pizza chef was adding some Manitoba flour. It will strengthen the dough and make it more elastic. He told me that anyone can learn to make a good pizza if they have the passion and drive to learn it. Some of the best Sushi chefs are from Scandinavia. Here in Oslo, we have one of the best sushi chefs in the world, who is a Soviet Korean. So anything is possible if we really put time into it.

When I visit Los Angeles, I always go to Mozza if you ever get to LA you should check it out. You will be surprised. All the food is very good.

I dont like truffle so when i see these kinds of videos its like i see money getting burned. Also i prefer my pizza simple. It is supposed to be poor man food. I will gladly pay for a well made pizza and service but not for fancy ingredients on it.

I would go with the squash blossom pizza. I do wish toppings went a little closer to the edge... For me, pizza is mostly about the toppings. Vincenzo 's thoughts about ideas that might make this even better are worth testing.

a style of thin-crust, coal-fired Neapolitan pizza common in and around New Haven, Connecticut. I don’t care for it I’ve had it. My personal opinion the best pizza shops in the USA are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Nothing compares to pizza made in Italy!!

I've eaten 25-30€ freshly made pasta with a lot more white truffle shavings than this. Definetly extremely overpriced. Most of it is paid for the location, i guess.

I had the pleasure to have eaten at Pepe in Grani last month, and it was a awesome food experience. It is well priced, as you mentioned, and has a fantastic variety on offer. The only letdown was the service. It was a pity as it left a sour taste in the end. Nonetheless, it was very late as our booking was brought forward to 11.30pm, so I could imagine the workload catching up with the floorstaff 🇦🇺🇮🇹

I could never justify spending $135 on a pizza, irrespective that they used Truffles. So for me the 2nd one was the best value and nicest looking pizza. Personally, I like truffles with eggs. Now that is a wonderful experience.

@@vincenzosplate all of those, they are all in Los Angeles. :) Blaze have the most number of locations around the city, Mozza has 2 or 3 I think. Many other good pizza places around here, you should come and do a pizza testing videos yourself :)

Yep these videos are starting to get very pompous and shows his pallet might be limited to what is "right"... Burnt cheese tastes great. Obviously when people say burnt we don't mean fully black burnt but browned. Even the cheese on the fancy pizza crust... nothing wrong with that.

@@vick82sydney Firstly they are not getting pompous they were pompous to begin with. And to a degree being an ambassador of a particular food culture requires that because you are in a sense teaching people the majoritarian taste of a certain group. But to be fair here Vincenzo just said that it put him off. And the truth of the matter is that most Italians would feel the same way. Do not forget that you are on a channel that seeks to righten what has become epidemically but more importantly falsely wide-spread as real Italian food culture. Vincenzo never appealed to people who do not care whether it is conformous to the Italian palate and just want to eat what tastes good to them. I, an Italian myself, would not mind golden cheese aswell but that is not what the original recipes look for.

Agreed on chicken not being a good pizza topping. It dries out too much. Pineapple is more acceptable on a pizza than chicken.

"Why you like chicken on pizza" we like meat on our pizza. Chicken is just a leaner meat. Aort of why we also put chicken in pasta. Usually its a pasta thats made wity a lot of butter. Butter goes really well with chicken. Especially with garlic. I can hear the crying from here. But my personal preference since the lockdowns is just keeping it simple and making it at home. You and vito lacopelli deserve credit for that

Get truffle, shaver, and go to best pizza restaurant you can find. Then buy cheese only pizza and shave the truffle yourself or ask chef to do it ;D

While I LOVE pizza, I have serious difficulty finding a pizza I can eat in the States. As I cannot suffer sauce, with the tomato SKIN still attached. The LOOK I get when I walk into Pizzarama asking to SEE the sauce, before I order, is precious.

Hi Vincenzo! In Malta we have tray pizza cut in squares which sell between 1.50 euro to 2.50 euro. It is a soft dough, similar to a deep pan pizza. Nothing artisan about it, but tastes incredible! You should check it out in one of the Maltese pastizzerias there are in Australia, along with our famous pastizzi!

I'm not from Rome but the best pizza looked like the first one. Meh I'm traditionalist i guess. Second pizza looked like every now and again you'd get to much mozz thats not cooked. I have not tried it so i don't know. Just off looks off for pizza.

Interesting test! I liked the $5 pizza the most. Great value for money! I don't like truffles at all, no matter what dish they go with. The smell is reminiscent of boars in heat.

@@vincenzosplate The $23 pizza is absolutely great in my eyes! The idea with the zucchini flowers is great and also looks good. Last but not least, the crispy edge. That's okay with the price for me. Personally, I wouldn't want to spend so much on a pizza.

i like chicken on pizza, it pairs very well with the cheese and tomato sauce, garlic too of course, i usually order a margherita and then i add chicken and garlic on it. best pizza ever.

The reason why BuzzFeed disappeared is it went from cool and edgy channel for young people into extremely hardcore left wing politics, which alienated not only those who have opposing views, but also a huge chunk of audience who just wanted some entertainment and not constant political messaging.

this video is from a few years ago; nowadays even the most basic pizza at Blaze Pizza costs at least $7.95 ..... Blaze is a chain in US & Canada, but their pizza is still better than Domino's or PapaJohns; it is thin and crispy, a little closer to a Napolitano pizza

Hadn't been to a pizza hut in ages. Went a year back.... There's something in their crust that hurts my stomach... Preservatives most likely. Never again.

nice video, i think that's indeed the price isn't worth it for sure, the truffle is good but the pizza looked like good but not life changing, sound like a "salt bae" pizza otherwise isn't that guy at the start of the video behind the laptop the same guy that did the omurice video with Motokishi dai-sensei ? I don't remember his name. Edit : ah found him he's Andrew from the Tasty YT channel and he was also on buzzfeed.

In Indonesia, sometimes chicken become a substitute for beef, for those who don't eat beef (like me, because of religion reason as a Hindu), chicken for me is the best substitute, also in Indonesia, pork is sell limited due to religion reason for Moslems. And i never see someone sell or made pizza with meat topping from pork. Vincenzo, is anyone in Italy use pork as meat topping for pizza, or only in pasta?

I think you should do some actually traditional italian recipes, and not these newfangled chinese/american fusion foods. noodles, tomatoes, and rice aren't traditional, those are imports from china and america.

Love this show. Watched worth it starting at the second episode til they ended it recently. Wait til you see the video with the $2000 pizza. You need to come to the u.s. and film food content. Try the pizza and the bbq. Try the pasta. For the love of God Try a buffalo chicken pizza and you'll understand chicken on pizza

Well, USA's Pizza Hut and Domino's is better than Australia's. Like that Pizza you tried from Domino's in Australia; I wouldn't choose those pizzas either; they look like junk pizzas. But Pizza Hut IS better than Domino's here in the USA. Pizza Hut is better than Domino's for everything. My favorite Pizza is actually Taco Pizza from Pietro's Pizza, that's a USA, local, quality, Northwestern Pizza Chain. See, Pizza is my most favorite food, Taco Pizza is my most favorite Pizza. The top of the top of food for me. ☺

Give me the cheap stuff and put some topping on it. $8 for that would be the best for me. You asked who orders Pizza Hut or Dominos? I don't do Pizza Hut anymore. Their customer service where I am is *terrible*. But I definitely order Dominos about twice a month. I work at a public high school. And Dominos delivers to my school. I can get on my phone, order through their web page, and have a pizza delivered to my school quickly.

@@vincenzosplate Because I work at a public school, I am *very* burned out on cheese or pepperoni pizzas. Every school "party" will serve either cheese or pepperoni pizzas. After awhile it gets old. When I'm ordering for myself I have a few favorite pies. First one will make you (as an Italian) cringe...but I genuinely like Hawaiian pizzas. Ham, Pineapple, and maybe bacon. Second one, Sausage, Mushrooms, and Green Peppers. Third one, Ham and onion. Fourth one Chicken, Spinach, and Diced Tomatos with a white Alfredo type sauce instead of the usual Marinara. Final one, Chicken and onions with a Honey Barbecue Sauce. (Probably several of those selections may have made you cringe a little...but to me the whole point of eating is to be as happy and healthy as you can. These selections make me happy.) As an addendum...my *real* favorite food is Korean Barbecue! (But they don't deliver to my school)

I would go for the first pizza and not about the price. The second has a crust done a bit too much and will be harder to bite into. The third looks nice but I've never had truffles before. The price is way out of my budget range. Most of my cooking career has been in public soup kitchens and homeless shelters in a very low budget. My goal was to provide the most nutrition possible and fr the meal to be healthier than average middle class and on a low budget. Hard pizza crusts break filling and dental crowns. The poor don't get good dental care in America. These people are having a very hard time in their lives. The food is supposed to be a short break from extreme poverty. Breaking teeth, fillings or crowns doesn't provide that short break from a miserable life. In fact it makes their lives more miserable. I do make pourable pizza crust at the shelters. Pizza done in large sheet pans but with as much care as possible.

@@vincenzosplate there is too much misery in this world, especially in the US, where people who work and often at two jobs are homeless. If they aren't homeless then they can't afford to buy much in the way of food. A person can survive on the cheapest instant ramen for a total of $60 a month but years of living like that brings about extreme illnesses and other problems that permanently damage health.

5$ - one looks proper, but its clear the crust not airy, the dough is like commercial one, a bit cardboard. The whole process seems like they only left ths forniolo some skills but the rest automated 23 - yeah this is the real deal, maybe the crust too uniform color for my liking, but I understand how they achieve it, and nothing wrong with it. I would go for preferment and higher oven temp but its just personal preferences. The toppings and the quality of materials seems top notch. Nicely done. I remember Vito once filled zuccini flower with ricotta cheese, this pizza reminded me of that. 135$ - nothing justifies that price, pizza was invented in times when there was a great need for cheaper foods. And I think a good pizza should be affordable and enjoyable by everyone. But otherewise, the not ethical questions, technically yes the dough is elastic, not sure but might underfermented. Shredded mozzarella is a no go for me, yes the oven rather dries than bake that poor pizza. Even in my home electric all purpuse oven bakes in 3 min with a pizza stone (okay under its not well baked but least at top okay), baking for 5 min is way too much and even at the end it looks pale. I think the second place did the best job, and honestly the cheapest and most expensive is a tie for me because the most expensive had better dough, but the cheapest had better baking. Putting on expensive materials is something anyone can do so for that I can't give the extra for the expensive one. I will surely go and check Fraco Pepe video beacuse I missed that. I think thats more close to my style.
