Italian Dueling Saber - Cutting and Stabbing

This Saber is beautifully done and something we're so proud of. We think we've made something special here, we hope you agree.
www.coldsteel....
Most military sabers are effective for cutting and thrusting, but they can be heavy and are challenging to wield with precision for any length of time. The Italian Dueling Saber, however, is different! Its long, slim, moderately curved blade is feather light and you can easily write your name in scarlet with its razor edge.

Beautiful piece of metal...but you're missing one thing: A challenge or dueling gauntlet...for when you absolutely, positively, need to challenge someone to a saber duel at sunrise for insulting your honor. 🤩

Just about any blade from Cold Steel is worth its weight in gold. They make many knives, swords that are high quality but affordable, less than $50. Check out their beater Kukri for about $35. When you have one of those in your hands, you'll buy another for about $150 to $250 even if you have to save money. I have several of them in diff sizes. You just won't believe it. Buy direct, not from Amazon or whoever. Razor sharp AND durable! Truly a SHTF scenario, End of the World, kick ass, monster killer! Trust me.

If the katana was such a wonderful blade, then why didn't a single military adopt it as a weapon of choice for officers / cavalry? They didn't. Because sabers cut ENOUGH. You don't have to sever a leg to mission kill the enemy.

The combination makes sense. Austria had a lot of connections to Italy, but also Slavic countries, which made many relict visibly different from German artefacts, despite the fact that Austria is culturally closest to Germany.

Beautiful saber :D From all the sword sparring i have done over the years, I have learned that is not about big cutting power, its about having a fast and balanced blade. I learned that going for the hand / wrist is more effective than trying to kill the guy with a big blow. So in other words, this saber would be a serious problem against a katana or longsword.
@Blutroth
@Blutroth 2 года назад
It depends on the circusmtances. There's a reason why heavy sabres existed. They were mounted by cavalry troups, which needed a heavier and longer weapon, because obviously they had to slash into enemies from the horseback. The more heavy weight was an advantage when slashed from a horse. But they did not hold the sabre the same way you would hold a dueling sabre of course. Beeing on the horse required you to hold your weapon differently and the speed of the horse compensated for the force that you would need to swing a heavy sabre. So each weapon has it's own purpose, there's no "best" over the other...that's what most people usually forget.

I think this is really what a lot of people want including myself. I have your 1847 heavy cavalry saber, on which I would like to etch northern symbols, but I may be interested in this one too. And about the long sore, I hope you did read my comment on that video. The reason why we didn’t buy that long sword is because it’s weird. And the handle is too short for a German longsword. We want something simple and elegant, like the tinker long sword, and with a long grip 12 inches or more - not including the pommel. lots of leverage, very short center of balance, classic simple medieval lines, no weird cross guard. Affordable

BTW I'll probably be picking up a Hunting Sword here soon. Also I'd still love to see you design a Dusack or Schiavona. BTW I mentioned I knew a artisan who makes custom torques. Here is the website... www.redfalconproducts.com. The website doesn't have any listed, but he does sell them in his shop at the PA Ren Faire. @genuinelyconcerned3504 Год назад
@brianbabin6333 I own both and the difference is like night and day. The windlass sabre is superior in every way possible. Even down to the authentic peened handle and correctly tempered flex. I love cold steel knives but will NEVER buy another cold steel sword. The only cold steel sword I own that I would recommend as handling like an original is the Filipino war bolo.
@genuinelyconcerned3504
@genuinelyconcerned3504 Год назад
@brianbabin6333 the windlass is actually cheaper than the cold steel here in the UK. And I have been fortunate enough to have handled several originals at antique fares and militaria exhibitions. The windlass 1796 us far more authentic and better in every way. But people are more than welcome to buy both to see which one of us is correct.
