I'm so glad you made it crystal clear that Sanremo is separate from the ESC. It's like Christmas for us Italians, it's a weekly long celebration of Italian music and entertainment. This song is amazing. His voice is fantastic, I love the emotion and grit in his voice, I love the different tones of his voice, I love the lyrics the arrangement is fantastic, he has great stage presence, the lyrics are beautiful, the orchestral swells in the chorus is great and really hits me, the progression is fantastic, I love the power of the chorus and overall this song is really powerful and emotional. This is one of my faves in Sanremo this year. It is a masterpiece. I would not mind this, Madame, Ultimo, Colla Zio or loads of others went to ESC. The contest is just so strong this year as Italy as always. Italy is always a constant server of quality to me and this song is no different. They just always have great vocalists with tracks that are at least solid objectively. I would love to see this go to Eurovision honestly. This is much better than L’Ezzenziale for me, it just gives me more emotions and it is much more stylistically my style. Is completely agree with all of the facts in your debrief, I hope it does not get butchered in the revamp. It is a 9.5/10 for me and could grow on me over time.
Due vite is not about a love story between two different people but it's about the relationship between rational life and subconscious life of all of us. I am thrilled that he won and I hope that he will have a great experience at Eurovision with whatever song he will decide to sing.

Sanremo seems to be the most ancient in the world of his kind, and actually it was the event that inspired the creation of ESC. That’s why it can’t be a National Final, because it’s just a different contest not linked to something bigger but latter in time. The first ESC edition has been hosted in Italian (in the Italian part of Swiss).

You explained everything well: it's not a selection for ESC, the winner can decide if he wants to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest but there's more, he doesn't necessarily have to bring the song with which he won Sanremo! He can modify or even change the song! Today a journalist asked Marco if he will take "Due vite" to ESC and he answered that he wasn't sure yet. He wants to see if there's another of his songs that fits better in the european contest. So it could be this one or something else!!

Hi Luke, Marco has definitively won Sanremo for the second time (the first one was in 2013). In my opinion this year at the festival there were many interesting songs. Altough i think that Marco's song is the best composition, i suggest you to listen the song "Made in Italy" from Rosa Chemical (in my opinion this could have become one of the biggest hit songs of ESC) and "Splash" from Colpaesce e Di Martino (this one is more subtler, they are two wonderful artists i think). This is better than pizza and pasta I absolutely LOVE IT !!! He represented Italy in the ESC in 2013 with the song L'Essenziale, but this song is better. He was number 7 in 2013, this song can win ESC 2023 if he is winning the Sanremo festival.
This Song probably doesn't fit good with ESC because it is a Classic italian ballad with a powerful chorus, but in term of talents Mengoni is tons ahead of the other contestants. So his victory in Sanremo would be well deserved. Sometimes the winning Song fit with ESC (like Maneskin or Soldi), sometimes not (like this One or Fai rumore), but in all these cases the victory is deserved for Sanremo.

I like Marco's voice and I wish him well with this song, but for Eurovision I would prefer Lazza with "Cenere", or Madame with "Il bene nel male". It would be great to hear what you think of those two, Luke!
Honestly my favs were Elofie, Madame, and Marco Mengoni was only my 3rd choice however at this point it seems no longer possible for Elodie or Madame to reach the top so I'll stand for Marco which is absilutely an amazing artist with talent in spades. I don't know how familiar you are with Sanremo Festival but friday is the night of covers and each.contestant pair with another artist who is not part in the contest and performs one song of the past 3-4 decades: Marco, together with.The Kingdom Choir, performed a stunning rendition of "Let it be" and won the night!
Thanks for the explanation, since some eurofans think Sanremo is made up for Eurovision. About Marco, after 10 years since his last participation, he made a perfect performance. Honestly, his song is full of emotions, but I expected more by him. Despite this is only in my top 5, I feel that with this kind of performance, his comeback can bring us another great result since he proved to be more a special guest on the stage, but I'm scared about how will europeans react to his song (L'Essenziale got placed 7th, and since with comeback artists we got lower results except Albano & Romina and Mia Martini, I doubt it). And despite I prefer another kind of song and a new artist to represent us in Eurovision this year, I'm totally fine with his probable victory in Sanremo and coming back in competition after all this time. Being a personal story, the sound fits perfectly what he wants to communicate and his voice is very powerful in every single note (He got a standing ovation in the 3rd night, since the audience acclaimed him with a great ovation). It’s great but I really wish they would send a women! I love Madame, Elodie and Mara Sattei they have stronger songs in my opinion but Marco will clearly win :( Italians will only vote for a man to win so in hoping for Lazza to win as he’s in top 3 currently and has the strongest song in the top 3/5 for me
