I’ve been grieving these past few weeks and my accidental encounter with your travel video helped distract me pleasantly. It’s a feeling I haven’t had in some weeks since my tragedy. Thank you for being such sincere and enjoyable people to watch on a happy journey eating, sightseeing, and moving on the rails.

As a 1960s European Rail Courier, now retired in S France, still using railways now that car travel is costly, your unique style of wagon check, range of trains, examples of rail catering, hotel tips, views from carriages, walkabout visits and local restaurants, with fine photography, and your engaging friendly nature produces the very best of RU-vid travelogues. I was particularly interested by the train ferry toSicily, having privately used the old Dover to Dunkirk Night ferry , when in postwar UK there was A 50 GBP foreign travel limit entered on passports ,with Customs searches on departure, since out and back ferry train in the old blue wagons lits rolling stock were paid in England making that 50 pounds stretch furher. My agency groups, about 200, travelling from French channel ports were given hired coaches to cross Paris to catch for example the Barcelona expresses overnight with a week of half board in a three star Catalan hotel , top of range agency , all in for about 30 pounds, need to multiply by about 23 for todays prices. You as film makers have no clients to supervise but, behind the scenes and your relaxed style, you are working all the time. do keep on travelling.

I cannot believe that I was in Rome at the same time you were. I was there for three months (I have been going to Rome for 25 years). Super informative video! One of the best ever. We’re going to Rome and Florence in May/June for 19 days, nothing like your long trip. The train info was great and, as always, the food was well presented the food queen 😂 I especially enjoyed your stay in Monopoli in the Bari region. First time eyeing the extensive set up of trulli’s. My family is from Bari so know I really have to go there. Monopoli looked awesome. Would you recommend doing all the train purchases on the Trenitalia app? Thanks for all you do for us beginner travelers. Hope to hear your updates on the California Amtrak situations.

On days like these. On days like these. Did your husband get tempted to rent a Lamborghini Muria and go to Turin. Then find the road in the Italian Job opening of the 1969 movie? And if your husband is a rally car fan Sardena is a must-see. Also Rally Sweden and Finland. I hope you do the Perth to Sydney trip in Australia. And the Thailand Express. And follow the railway of death. Where me and my brother and our dad. We're going to see. After we went to where he was in Vietnam in 1968 and 69. Sadly we never got a chance. Because he passed away from lung cancer. In 1997 So I am going if I win some money.

Wow you did the whole shabang. I like Italian trains. Not expensive. You paid $150 each for a 6 hour trip in F. In the UK we paid $250 for a 3 hour trip. But we had heavy luggage. First class was empty in Italy (not in the UK) so it was helpful from Tropea to Salerno with a stop in Maratea. We are going to Bari. Now we have an idea of the train. Thanks.

When you are out of the US, do you worry about connecting to WI-FI? I was wondering if it would be better to have a VPN? Don’t know much about VPN’s but I’m assuming that that means having your own personal connection without connecting to someone else’s WI-FI. Would it be safer to have a VPN and is it possible to use it when you are out of the US?

This is a great compilation of the "shorts" posted as you traveled! It's fun to revisit all those places. Since the chance of me actually getting there is slim to none, I travel vicariously, "with you". The mix of very old and relatively new is so fascinating. And that Fiat test track and auto museum were so cool! OK, I admit, I watch one or two other RU-vid channels. On one, "The American Viscountess" is renovating a little house in the Tuscany area (plans to put it on AirB&B), and she describes American coffee in Italy as a double espresso with a side of very hot water, so one can dilute it to taste. (Seriously, like the Turkish, it needs chocolate!) Today I noticed Rob's glasses colors match his cap. Stylin'! Somehow, I end up hungry after these videos. LOL

Your trip brought back great memories for me. Following the college graduation of one of our daughhers who wanted to explore Europe, something I had never considered, my wife wanted me to be her travel partner for my wife's piece of mind. This was about 10-15 years ago. My only request was that we ride the rails doing so. One of her 2 vacation 2 week trips there we Included Italy the second week and saw Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples taking a side tour there for a day trip of Pompeii and the Amalfi coast by bus (also one that saw Pisa). Those two extended trips have been my travel highlights as like you I had done AMTRAK trips of the West originating from St. Louis. I was fortunate that having worked at the same company many years had lots of vacation days. I really liked seeing the high speed rail of Europe and took lots of pictures even at the grand train stations and of their trains. My wife would have not been that much in to all the exhausting walking seeing so much art and history, but my daughter and I really liked it. I really enjoyed your video.

I am of Italian ancestry and live in upstate New York. I've been blessed to have visited Italy a half a dozen times over the years. Your video truly captures the magic of that country and its amazing train journeys. Splurging on the executive class tickets on the Frecciarossa was one of the best decisions that I have ever made on my travels - such an amazing high speed train! All the best to you both! I know that you are not vegan, but in your many travels around Italy, do you have experiences interacting with vegans having an easy time finding good vegan food? Do you find that it is possible to find excellent, satisfying, filling and delicious vegan offerings on trains, in hotels, restaurants, bed and breakfasts etc? I prefer “veganized” versions of fantastic, complex or simple fresh regional dishes. Are people open and enthusiastic about accommodating vegans with a variety of imaginative offerings? Also, I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. Do accommodations of all sorts and trains and buses take “non smoking” seriously, providing clean aired, non-smoking environments?

Good question, I'm not sure. It looked pretty high, but I'm not sure how high the water could rise there.

Love your videos, so enjoyable and informative; everything you have shared just inspires me. Did you speak any Italian at all while you were there? How was the communication in regards interactions and also figuring out systems/routes/ticketing?

Love the videos. I believe parts of Venice floods quite often these days, did it happen while you were there?

We didn't have any flooding or rain, so I guess we were pretty luck based on what everyone is saying now on the video!

@feed206 I recall recently hearing that the water level in Venice was receding and saw a news video on RU-vid that showed the boats sitting in very little water. There was a lot of concern there about the water levels.

We love following your channel(s)! Thank you for all of the information. In this video you stayed at an AirBnb in Venice. It is the one on the canal. Sometime later you did a review video where you gave more information on that stay. I think the host was named "Bruno." I cannot for the life of me find that video and my wife and I would like to stay there. Would you kindly direct me to the review video? To help, I think you also reviewed a place in Lucca, Italy in the same video but I may be wrong on that. Much thanks to both of you!!!

This is so fun and interesting to watch. One question though. Air Bnb's in the US have a lot if extra fees added on so its actually cheaper to go to a hotel sometimes, does Europe have extra fees added onto air bnb's?

I’ve been watching many of your Amtrak videos and now your Italy videos as my wife and I will be doing a tour of Italy by train later this year. I always find your videos very informative and a definite must see before you go anywhere by train. I do have one question regarding the local trains in Cinque Terre, is there any room for luggage on these trains?
