Anyone saying football was slower then doesn't understand football. These were world class players. They defeated England to qualify and only Brazil and Holland matched Italy in this tournament. 16 teams in the old World Cup meant no easy matches. Those were eye-watering challenges! I was thirteen in this World Cup.
football is definitely SLOWER now i cant stand to watch modern tippy tappy rubbish and as for the modern commentators they are crap who cares how many passes a team makes,talk about the match not loads of irrelevant statistics and finally keep women out of MENS football
I was 9 and that was the first World cup I saw. Personally speaking the formula was good: few teams, only strong ones, few matches of high level. The final four were actually offering the best football: Argentina, Netherlands, Brasil and Italy. The two finals were both very spectacular: Brasil defeted Italy but Italians hit he posts three times Argentina won the cup but, durino the 90th minute, Netherlands hit the post: should they have scored they could have brought the cup home. It has gode differently and that is why football is fantastic and we love it so much
Io c'ero!! Prima volta allo stadio, avevo 9 anni , ci siamo piazzati nella curva sud, dove c'era la tifoseria italiana, ovvero gli italiani emigrati qui in Argentina, nella città di Mar del Plata. Indimenticabile!! Molto bello rivedere la partita, mai rivista in tv. Faceva un freddo cane!!
La migliore squadra italiana di sempre, sicuramente molto più competitiva di quella del 2006 ma non rispetto al 1982 in Spagna dove era quasi la stessa con la sola aggiunta determinante di Bruno Conti. Fu l'unica nazionale a battere con lo stupore di tutti l'Argentina che poi vinse la coppa con un percorso non del tutto credibile ai danni del Brasile. Quell'Italia che poi stravinse la coppa 4 anni più tardi avrebbe potuto raggiungere la finale e forse vincerla se non fosse intervenuto quel pazzesco gol da 40 metri dell'olandese Haan.
Beh! Quella del 78 aveva Bettega, che era meglio di Graziani. E Benetti non era inferiore ad Oriali. Ci classificammo ai gironi senza brillare. Quella del 78 gioco‘ sempre bene , meglio di tutte. Mancava solo di tenuta fisica.
@@enricoc.948 anche se l’Italia avesse raggiunto la finale, l’atmosfera politica in Argentina in questo momento non avrebbe mai consentito una vittoria dell’Italia sul terreno di casa dell’Argentina insieme al suo governo che si sarebbe introdotto nell’arena del calcio (con tattiche brutali e forza intimidatoria). L'Italia andò avanti in quella semifinale contro l'Olanda (con un autogol) grazie ad un autogol. L'Italia è stata la squadra migliore nel primo tempo e ha anche sprecato buone occasioni. Ma dopo che Haan aveva pareggiato, con un tiro benedetto dalla Vergine Maria, ben dopo che l'Italia sapeva che un pareggio per 1-1 non sarebbe bastato per superare gli olandesi nel secondo girone da vincitori per accedere alla finale) sono stati ora spinge la partita (pur essendo stanco) per segnare di nuovo e questo gioca direttamente nel sistema di calcio totale degli olandesi. Di conseguenza l'Olanda segna un altro gol e vince 2-1 mentre noi giocavamo proprio nelle sue mani. Poi dobbiamo accontentarci nemmeno del 3° ma del 4°…..Ehhh……Anche pensare che Cruyff non ha nemmeno giocato questo Mondiale e se l'avesse fatto forse staremmo cantando una canzone ancora peggiore su come si è svolta la nostra partita con l'Olanda.
Questa Nazionale era fortissima e 4 anni dopo avrebbe vinto in Spagna. Oggi vincerebbe 6-0 contro la nazionale di oggi . Pensate solo il confronto Bettega Rossi / Scsmacca Retegui 😂😂😂

Era una grande Italia, peccato forse mancò la tenuta atletica per arrivar piu in alto del quarto posto. Questa naxionale non era inferiore né all'Argentina né all'Olanda e nemmenonal Brasile che ci battè nella finale del terzo posto. Ci rifacemmo quattro anni dopo...
Una grande Italia che si preparava al gioco di grandi giocatori che vennero poi inseriti nell'Italia campione del mondo in Spagna 82 in cui si unirono Graziani altobelli (Bettega no) Conti... UN ITALIA 78 che fu spettacolare battendo in casa i campioni argentini 🥂🍀😉
Bettega è stato il più grande attaccante italiano del dopo guerra,aveva tutto..Tecnica,Acrobazia,Senso del gol innato ed una intelligenza calcistica che gli consentiva di giocare anche per la squadra ❤.
1) Una delle nazionali italiane più forti degli ultimi 50 anni 2) Partita con un numero impressionante di occasioni, con una Ungheria che all'epoca aveva una certa consistenza 3) Con le regole attuali, la partita sarebbe finita con 6 giocatori per parte
Hungarians did not deserve to loose all three matches in this World Cup. There is always a team with that outcome but with better conditions, just no fortune.
@@davidemaglio5745 it was usually like that and up until only recently about 20 years ago did we see the additional players coming from Roma , Fiorentina, Lazio and Parma ( when Juve , Milan and Inter were at the top of Europe so was Italy on the national stage with most players still coming from Juve right up until about 2000 . Then when Roma and Lazio became more dominant and add teams like Fiorentina and Parma too with Ancelotti in the late 90s ) Italy also had more players coming into the fold from them. It’s only today because of the degradation of Football where Italy is now forced to look everywhere and anywhere. When most of your national squad plays on the same nations domestic squad ( being a top squad in Europe ) you have great team cohesion , spirit and mutual understanding for a winning formula .
@@sergiocalcio9481 yes, but until the 70s it was easier. There were only Italian players in Italian clubs, so the dominant clubs used to have the best Italian players. No suprise to see that in the 1978 WC, most of the players came from Juventus and another bunch came from Turin which were the best Italian clubs from 1974 to 1978. I used to be a fan of AC Milan and one of the first memories as a (very young) football fan is about the AC Milan 1979 title. It was one of the great Liedholm's miracles: winning a championship with as squad without a single player playing in the national team....it was epic for such an awful squad
Questa Nazionale iraliana era la migliore squadra tra tutte quelle che hano stati Presente in Argentina 78! Brasile anche era una grande squadra, ma mancavate la forza mentale per aquire la tassa
Avevamo problemi sempre nel secondo tempo. Non so perché , credo fosse un problema psicologico o fisico. Germania ed Olanda erano sempre state dominate nel primo tempo , poi calavano. Nazionale migliore di quella del 1982 e del 2006.
