I'll never forget this world cup. From Maradona to Mattheus, Klinsmann, Stojkovic, Baggio, Gascoigne, Miller and el loco Heguita and of course the song " To be number one"... This was my most memorable World cup. I was only 10 years then, now im 43 and still rooting for Argentina. I cried when they won last December 2022. Love you Argentina
My first world cup was the 2002 edition Korea /Japan ,I was 8 years old back then ,,,,,I cried when Argentina was kicked out by Sweden until Batistuta apologized to fans I was relieved ,,,,and 18 December 2022 is the far best day of my entire Life
Ruggeri, Olarticoechea, Caniggia, Goicochea, Burruchaga, Sensini.. that was an elite team even without Diego Maradona and they totally deserved to be in the final
This match was physically and psychological draining for Argentina. They were practically a second string team for the final as 3 of their best players apart from the greatest (Maradona) were missing for the final due to suspension, red card ie Cannigia,Guisti & Olartecochea. If they had these 3 players for the final they would have beaten Germany and become World champions
@@canko15 Taking into account the fact that Germany needed a fake penalty to win the final, Argentina could very well have won that final with its 3 missing players in the squad that night.
How could forget these amazing year , 1990 in Buenos Aires , with my cousins , bringing the heart remembering , I had been 20 years , recalling those moments in happiness , other century , and of course without a doubt happy moments , Argentina I bring you in my heart now at these moments in 2022 is a miracle we need to appreciate the wonderful match
Saudi arabia win 😎 I am from Saudi Arabia and I love Argentina since 1998 💙 Lopez.. Ortega.. Batistuta.. Rua.. Zanetti.. Sorin.. Ayala.. Almeida.. Cincini.. Simeone.. Veron.. Coach Pasarella. All the best to my country, Saudi Arabia and Argentina for the round of 16 Vamos saudi 🇸🇦 💚 Vamos argentina 🇦🇷
I ll never forget this amazing summer... the morning in the beach.. the nights with world cup... diego, mattheus, klinsman, baggio, gaskoine, mila, kaniggia... panini, etrusco, pavarotti, sophia loren... so many beautiful moments 🏆⚽️❤️
@@randymillhouse791 the game was great of course. But Qatar is not for football. Everything was staged in this world cup. USA is neither. There will never be a cricket world championship in France Why should it be a world cup in Qatar? I don't understand why we mush force a game outside it's natural place only for money? If world cup has to be done only in Europe and lat am , let it be! The game comes first not the money!
@@mayowaolagoke4701 why it's racist? Racism is when I say that someone is worse than Me because of his race. Did ever say or imply something like that???
The scale of the setting of this match was incredible. In this particular World Cup this semi final & the Second Round match in Milan and the Netherlands & West Germany were very much domestic Seria A games. It captured the level of Seria A at that time.
I was 17 years and I watched this live on the TV of a pizzeria. I will never forget that day. Massive celebration by the Hispanic/Latin community in Toronto, Canada on that day, the party went on from 4 pm till 5 am.
great moments, glad to see it again. i saw match when i were 10yold, in black and white tv, do not know much football at that time but love Argentina from that time till now
Italy 1982 team still in my opinion the best jeneration in all Italy's history With giant's ,: Dino Zoff 💙 Gaetano Scirea 💙 Claudio Gentile 💙 Folvio Collovatti 💙 Antonio Cabrini 💙 Gioseppi Bergomi 💙 Marco Tardelli 💙 Gabrille Orialli 💙 Bruno Conti 💙 Giampierro Marini 💙 GianCarlo Antonioni 💙 Alessandro Altobelli 💙 Fransisco Grazianni 💙 My favourite super star PAOLLO ROSSI 💙 I am abig italian fan since 1980 . Rest in peace PAOLO ROSSI 💙💙💙 FORZZA ITALIA
As a team, IMHO, Italia 90 remains the best one. Vicini's obsession to play Vialli not 100% and bench Baggio, plus Zenga's unfortunate mistake, cost us the WC.
Little known fact about the penalty shoot out: Argentina had studied Zenga and they knew that his "strategy" throwing himself to one side and then to the other, so the shooters just had to shoot to the side that Zenga had chosen in the previous penalty. Basically, by scoring the first penalty Argentina was already in the finals.
This game GLI AZZURRI should have won. . . This result I'd put up in the top 5 Azzurri tragedies, along w. The '94 Final, the 2002 debacle vs. s.korea, and most recent NON Qualification of 18' + 22 World Cups 😤😤😤😤😤
Last World Cup which I did not watch live due to my young age. It is such a spoil to find this high res video, in its original commentary, to see the football monsters of yesterday battle it out. You can tell how much physical conditioning came along in these 3 decades, look at how exhausted the players before even the 90 minutes are done.
I've seen this match, I was 9... I really loved playing as a goalie. It was my position. I remember being an absolute fan of Walter Zenga, he was a beast at Internazionale back then. When Argentina scored, I remember calling Caniggia every name in the book... but after some years I realize that I was cursing the wrong player. Unfortunate move from Zenga.
¡Gracias Diego, Gracias Cani y Gracias Goyco!
32 years later I still have no F'n idea what Zenga was doing coming out so far on Cannigia's goal. I feel like he would've caught that header with one hand if he stayed on his line. It was such a floater.
We have had great moments and very disappointing ones...but for me, this remains the saddest night in our long football history. I was at this game with my father and you could sense the outcome the more the clock ticked away. I have to be fair, Argentina played well - probably their best display at this World Cup - but this Italian side, a great Italian side, should still have had too much for them. The colossal error of Vicini, changing a winning side to bring back an out-of-form Vialli.
It was a disater dropping the young baggio and very typically italian. Vialli was useless in this world cup, italy were the best team in 1990 and should never have played outside rome
The most controversial world cup ever. Some critics( soccer critics) thought ( the year when Franc Buckenbuer lifted the cup in1974) the 1974 WORLD CUP. Later on people said the 1990 FIFA was mush more controversial. Most y those famous critics ( because of old age) passed away. Enthusiasts even today hear the theme song of Italy 1990 FIFA; not only that - they watch those matches even today. Every match was like a final.
My most memorable world cup for sure, the theme song💯 and the last one with goalkeeper handling a back pass. But Argentina making the final was a miracle bcos they're outplayed in all the knockout games. Probably one of the poorest team to make a world cup final
I remember watching this as a German in Africa. Everyone celebrated the outcome of this match, because we knew that Germany now had the title guaranteed. Italy would have been tough in the final. This Argentina team on the other hand was falling to pieces
I don't think at that time it was considered offside. There were extensive rule changes that took place in the 1990s. Before there was a rule that spoke of direct and indirect offside. I do not remember the wording exactly. But if the ball was not directly passed to you, then you were not deemed to be offside. A similar situation happened in the Germany vs Bulgaria game in 1994 when Voller scored. Many said that he wasn't offside bc a shot was taken and the ball bounced back off the post. I remember watching many old games and this was never called offside back in the day from what I can remember.
@@luperamos7307 In 1990 they still used the traditional offside rules. It was in 1994, at the WC itself, that the offside rules started changing. The new rules were vague, and no-one really knew what they meant. They should have made the rule change at the beginning of the season, to allow the players to get used to them, and to allow the referees to develop a consensus on what was and what wasn't "impacting the play." Because of this there were some very controversial and impactful calls at that WC.
Guardate come entra in campo Diego.
