Worked the drill press line at Beckmen instruments. Made centrifuges. Learned how to peck when doing precision holes. I have the same press and yes it's saved my butt numerous times. Good stuff 👍👍
I always plan on everything going as bad as possible. That way I’m happy if only half of it goes to shyt. Automotive industry these day, you never know what could pop up. A quality punch the appropriate size is very important too. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve used to big of a punch and my pilot hole was off center. Hope the bike is back in running order soon
Glad to see you getting the bike back together, ya stuff happens. At least you got the bolt out, to me easyouts are a joke once the bolt is corroded in. Center drills like the ones you use on a lathe work good for getting a hole started, the have a big body and a short bit so you don’t get deflection and they're not that expensive. OK buddy get back on the road 😎
Yes you definitely need a plan. You also need to do a bit of research before doing anything if you are doing it for the first time. This is exactly what I ran into building my bench top. Patience is also highly suggested my first attempt at laminating the boards together went terribly wrong. However as much as I wanted to give up on it and try a different method. I didn’t so with all those things I mentioned put together. I have a very nice bench top coming together.
