OH MY GOD THATS WHY ITS IN MY MEMORY IT MAKES SENSE NOW I WAS ALWAYS LIKE “Why tf do I think in Topeka when I hear it’s hot” AND NOW I KNOW THIS SHOW IS LEGENDARY
I find it amazing that this is pretty much a very nothing kind of scene yet it's one of the best and most memorable moments in the entire series. That's impressive.
Because it is the reality of when your parents leave you home alone. Before the first time, we all fantasize about the stupid things we'll do and the parties we'll throw. Then they finally let you stay home alone and you spend the day in front of the TV, or staring at the spot on the wall that looks like George Washington if you're upside down, or something random and boring. Then your parents get home and it clicks; "Oh shit, I wasted my one opportunity."
Facts I’m just watching the weather and it’s talking about a heat wave and somehow 33 year old me remembers this scene from my childhood and here I am.
For context, Bloo was alone at home for the whole episode leading up to this point. The audience totally expects the episode to only feature Bloo up until here, so when Mac finally arrives just to see Bloo acting ridiculous in front of the mirror, it was the funniest thing! Hahaha
Man, I miss this show. This episode was a perfect representation of what most kids watching it would also do if they had the house to themselves. Just being stupid. lol
There is an abnormally high temperature in the city of Topeka in the US state of Kansas located in the Midwest which is geographically in the Great Plains region near the Missouri river miles away from the cities of Kansas City, one being in Kansas while the other being in Missouri, another US states located in the Midwest which is also geographically in the Great Plains along the Missouri river
I feel a sensation of deep regret, knowing that I must deliver the current state of affairs, known colloquially as "the news," as this current state of affairs would be seen by the vast majority of the populace as "unfavorable." Nevertheless, as it is my duty and burden, I have been requested by my superiors that enlist my services in exchange for a paltry and mildly satisfactory payment of monetary value on a weekly basis, to deliver this update of the nation's current climatological living conditions upon all denizens across the organized nation of 50 subsections with borders legally defined by our homosapiens residents, called 'states,' that the world refers to as the "United States of America," primarily those currently in possession of a device that intercepts a variety of signals including digital and radio to project photons against a screen corresponding to the data it has received, commonly referred to as the "television." The current state of affairs is as follows for all denizens of our nation currently residing in the man-made habitation known as a city that has been christened with the name of "Topeka" at this current hour: The natural temperature outside of your local residence is substantially higher than what is considered to be the average level of heat, which we will now demonstrate to you all by using a heat level measurement system we refer to as "degrees" to give you a quantitative value for the increase in temperature that should be easier for most to understand precisely. Although there are 3 different types of values to measure heat - Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin - we will deliver this information to you in the national and most-colloquially-understood Fahrenheit value, with a smaller number beneath which represents the Celsius value used by the majority of the rest of the world. Please be advised of the drastic increase in temperature in the greater area of the city of Topeka, which is found in the state of Kansas. We thank you for taking these minutes out of your day to listen to our update upon the climatological state of affairs for our nation, and we hope you shall continue to listen and not use the movable orifice of your face, known as your mouth, to continuously repeat the exact same statement we have made on your television screen as we continue to deliver the up-to-date climatological state of affairs to you.
"It's Hot In Topeka" "It's Hot" "Hot, Hot, Hot" "Toe Peeker" "I'm A Hot Toe Picker" "Pick My Toe, Its Hot" Pick My Hot Toe, PICK IT!" Oh Boy, So Many Memorable Quotes In One Scene From A Lone Character, Genius!
I feel like the recording for this could have went two ways: either they planned all these lines word for word ahead of time or they just locked Keith Furgeson inside a dark room with a description of the episode and a mic, and just told him to fucking lose it
Wow, I forgot how frigging awesome this show was! Even this show had a few duds, but the majority of episodes were like this; zany randomness that kept the crowd in stitches! It's hottttttt innnnnnn Tooooopppppeeeekkkkkaaaaa. :D
So I remember watching this with my dad when I was younger, and since then it's become a running gag. Now when I started thinking about college, I was serious about being out of state. But I ended up in Toe-PE-Kah. I 100% believe that it was destined from the start that I would be in Topeka, because of this episode.
Still my favorite scene in the history of television. And my sense of humor has matured greatly since the first time I saw this episode. But god, this one is still a masterpiece.
