It's a "Waterheadedcoppermocassin"!I would have had to rebuild my chicken coop cause I would've burned it down!!!!!That's a "Nope Rope"...I hate em all.
Exact reason I carry everywhere I go! I'm terrified of snakes! A month after moving in, neighbor told me to watch out for Copperhead, Water Moccasin, and Ground Rattlers!! That's aside from the Scorpions, Tranculas, Brown Recluce/Fiddle Back, and a Mountain Lion!! Last July, husband was @work, so friend's husband come by @11:00pm one nite to wrangle a Rat Snake out of my coop. He held it up & even a bit curled, it measured 6'2"! He put it in a 5 gal bucket & took it to his 'drop off' area, where he releases everything he catches alive.
Just a Corn Snake in the Rat Snake family, I got them all over my place, one over 6 feet and one over 4 feet and lots of small ones nice to have around to keep venomous snakes away. Rough on eggs though. Joe
Shane, I heard somewhere that if you spread coffee grounds around the coop it is suppose to keep snakes away. Supposedly, snakes don't like the smell of it and will not cross that boundary. IDK, might give it a try.
Rat Snake. Here in Brianville, AL I kill all venomous because I walk every inch of our property at all hours. Non-venomous get a free pass to the edge of the property. Plus, I have a Heeler and especially a Chihuahua that will corner/chase anything. Even down a hole. He even chased a coyote (luckily a lone one) one night and I sent my Heeler in to save him. He almost met his maker. Good job one handling that one properly as scared as you may be of them. Rattle headed copper mouths must go. Wife was bit many yrs ago by Copperhead so I don't let snakes near the house stay regardless.
I Was On The Edge Of My Seat Watching You Get This Thing, I Hate Snakes And Right With You, Glad You Got Him! I Have One Who Loved Snakes, She Is 50 Now And She Hates Them, But She Would Bring One Home Most Of The Time, It Was Pure Panic 🤣🤣
Yikes ,I dont know Snakes except the non Venomous in Chicken Coops. I know you say N o Snake is a good Snake but that Joker looks Bad!! Have a nice life somewhere else😳! JO JO IN VT 💞
Yeap common Rat Snake or what we call a chicken snake. Looks like he has recently eaten a few somethins by the looks of that fat area on his body. You need to get you a snake grabber. Kinda looks like the grabber they sell for disabled folks. But not plastic.
Not a fan of them either. Looks like a rat/corn snake, harmless. We’ve learned when you release to take them at least .25 mile away. From experience a few hundred yards isn’t enough.
It's either a rat snake or a copper headed water rattler. Just reach down and grab him. He's most likely been in there chasing mice. Snakes don't really bother me. There's an old saying, "A snake will make you hurt yourself more than he'll hurt you." My daughter will go crazy when you say "poisonous snake."" Snakes are venomous. She's a biology grad student at Auburn, so I tolerate her. I'm the same way. I'll dispatch a venomous snake immediately, but I leave the good snakes alone. I have never seen a copperhead or rattler here, but I have seen a couple of moccasins around the pond.
