We moved to Woodbury, Ga in 2016 in search of a quieter, better life. We always had a love for muscadines and decided to grow a few rows for ourselves and our family along with raising our own egg layers, meat birds and pigs. Our few rows of muscadines soon turned into over 300 plants. What we once considered a hobby farm has now become a true farm that will open to the public in the next 1-2 years. We share our story through our RU-vid Vlog. We the support of our family and the support of our RU-vid family, with are seeing our dreams coming true.
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia well after watching this video we are sold. Im a police officer and have always had a k9 working on my shift. Ive been the bite dummy several times and know they are amazing dogs. Now I know they can coexist with the farm animals.
enjoyed this one a lot. I know what you mean bout slow growing. I think mine is the type. Lanes are still way behind while Halls are growing fast and almost to the ed of the wire. Gonna keep an eye on the lanes but one is just now to the top of the wire. Slow Slow Slow
i am very interested in setting up a muscadine small vineyard. You made a great video and agreed with your choice of supplier. good JOB! Now for the question. You referred in your video to some people that had Arbores, but it put the fruit higher Can you refer a design for me as I want the fruit hight to be about 7 feet fThank you New SUB
I had terrible Japanese Beetle damage to my Black Spanish bunch grapes, but much less to my Ison and Noble muscadines. I didn’t start the preemptive fungicide and pesticide treatment like Ison’s recommends. When I did start, the old Sevin concentrate wasn’t effective and I had to do a couple applications of Malathion. The Malathion did a good job of controlling the beetles. We’ll see you in September for some Carlos grapes 😊. I hope your home construction is progressing.👍
I didn't see any info about the main poles. Were they 6" Diameter? Were they 8 feet long and buried two feet? Did you backfill with gravel or cement? I don't understand how they don't tilt with the tension of the wire. Thanks!
Shane have you ever looked into Munson Grapes? Here in Texas I'm worried I might loose my muscadine in the winter. I found a story about Mr Munson and everything he did in the 1880'S~1900's on grapes. Great reading. I might try two of the Mrs Munson grape vines on the other side of my garden. Keep posting. Love the videos.
Muscadines should be fine as long as winters don't hold below freezing for long periods of time. Days I'm talking. If you are worried you can pile up dirt about 12 inches around the trunk to help protect them from frost damage
Shane thanks sharing. 7:13 into it you show putting the fertilizer down by just throwing it on the weed blocker. My little green is 50' X 50' with my 4 muscadines on the outside of two corners. Sort framing out the garden. I put mulch down around the base area. Say a bag per vine. I did it because my fertilizer would roll off the plastic, but with the mulch I can rake it away, apply the fertilizer then rake the mulch back over. Here lately I've been just broadcasting it over the mulch and then watering it in. Thanks again for sharing
So you ended up making about 6 gallons of wine out of the 4 gallons of blackberries? I have 2.5 gallons of wild blackberries picked to make my first batch and just trying to get my measurements figured out!
Vorrei vedere proprio cosa direbbe. 😡😡😡
Hi bro,I really like your pineapple wine recipe,I really enjoyed watching you explain every step in detail..I am like you,I don't like to use complex methods and equipment to brew wine..pineapple is my favorite fruit but I never tried its wine, but this year,I will make it..I also like my wine a little sweet..thank you so much for making this awesome video.
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia home brew wine just tastes awesome,I no longer purchase booze in market, just try different recipes from awesome brewers like you.
I've got my watering schedule down finally. I'm at the point now where my Supreme's are going from red to dark purple. My question is how do I know when I should pick them?
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia Thanks! Yep in South TX where it’s hot and humid 360 days each year. I am going to wait for them to soften a little. Feeling like Christmas in July with the waiting on this first crop of muscadines.
Okay I found your fertilization video I getting conflicting information from different areas about the frequency of fertilizing mature Vines, are you saying that you fertilize you're mature Vines 3 years older with calcium nitrate and 101010 twice a month until the 15th of July starting in April
Yes but don't worry if you don't. That's what's recommend. I haven't fertilized but twice this year. We been so busy after our house fire. We are loaded with grapes. I always say the most important thing is prunning in February
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia I talked to a grower here in Florida and he has an acre and a half of muscadines, he said he had problems with the trace minerals building up. He's been doing this for about 15 years or so, I don't know what kind of fertilizer he was using, I know it was 10:10
Hey Shane, I had a Momma Rabit drop her litter in a snowstorm on my patio. Their little feet in the snow were adorable 🤭. It's amazing how they freeze! Happy Fourth of July 🎉
When you fertilize, are you fertilizing 10 inches around the base of the trunk of the fine, or are you fertilizing down the wire at all underneath the Vine also how much are you fertilizing your mature plants
Scumpernongs are just a different variety of muscadine usually greenish or bronze color. As for pests I use liquid seven, works great on all bugs. Generally muscadines are grown in the south. They love the heat. If winters hang around 0 degrees for long periods of time in the winter they want make it
I'll come pick Muscadines this year if Kim will give me a recipe for jelly. Found a guy up in the Ga mountains once that made muscadine & scuppernog icees once that my Grands LOVED. Now, that was a head scratcher for sure.
Come on down. You can talk to Kim about that. She's out here with us every day. Isons had a both at this fair near us and they sold them to. Really good
