Above the Time & the MV were released in 2019. It is a sequel to her song & MV You & I which was released in 2011. The songs are about the love between 2 people who are trapped in different times and dimensions. In You & I IU is in love with a young man who is in a coma like state. She builds a time machine that her Grandfather had been working on, in order to go into the future to when he is awake which is Dec 31st 2019. She activates the time machine and just as she disappears into the future the boy awakes and is trapped in 2011. In above the time IU is now in 2019 but is above the time of the boy who is caught in 2011. He is working on building a time machine to get to her, but now they are trapped in time and different dimensions. There is so much more to both of these videos (in true IU style) in terms of symbolism, metaphors and imagery, that they require multiple watches in order to begin to truly appreciate then. Note: The train image in Above the time, is also present in You & I and also Carrie's through to Lilac and Strawberry Moon (they are all they same style and type of train) and are metaphors for the passage of or through time.

The same actor appeared in both music videos, "You & I" in 2011 and "Above the Time" in 2019. Unfortunately, the goose from the first music video waited by his phone for the call back but the 8 years for the sequel was beyond his lifespan.

that "irish dance" I think its the part when they meet each other "above the time/ outside the time", thats why the song need a bit of "outlandish" tune for the storyline... like many uaenas friends here said, this is a continuation from You and I. not just MV, IU also writes the lyrics as the answer of You and I lyrics, written by Kim Eana (and without any english words). The lyrics get many praises too, bcs its just so beautiful, its poetic and has many smart rhymes. and it still got deeper, bcs many ppl think this story is not just abt that couple, you can apply the metaphors in both songs' lyrics to other explanation (bcs You and I - Above The Time lyrics are so beautiful/ literary worthy). For example, my interpretation... its maybe abt "self search" , its a love story between I and you, as yourself.
