Mascha came up with this idea to share our top five of each major arcanum in a dedicated video, airing every few weeks. I have begrudgingly stuck to choosing only five for each (...almost). I’m timestamping below but avoiding spoilers. I have tried to include a mix of more and less traditional representations across the series, and to include imagery that I think lends something interesting to the interpretation of the card.
These are my current five favourite Emperors:
02:31 a science fictional Emperor
04:02 an Emperor grappling with challenges
06:22 a whimsical Emperor
08:07 a navigating Emperor
10:22 an Emperor building and creating

Yay! 💕🎉💕 I’ve been eagerly awaiting this next instalment of your responses to this wonderful tag! 🥰 It’s such a pleasure to listen to your thoughts on tarot, especially this time around as, like you say, The Emperor takes some work to reconcile with for many of us. And, as always, a treat to get a peek at the Slow Holler… my main, entirely selfish reason to continue to hope for time travel! 🤣

Ohhh the dreaming way card and the black-white-black-white hanging over his head and surrounding him with his contemplative body language, really love that depiction and reminder that to hold power is challenging. What you said about struggling to find positive, non-domineering representation and understanding of The Emperor is how I feel about the Hierophant. This got me thinkin. Thanks for making this video!

Really great choices. I always like hearing your perspective on tarot. I like that they differ from the rws imagery. I never noticed the pinpoint in the many queens emperor card before. Very interesting! Thanks so much for sharing. 😁

💜Umber was a Kickstarter, not sure if it's around anywhere now. I do like Emperors that seem to be steering or captain-ing in some way.

The Emperor is a challenging card for me as well. now I see the Emperor as also the Maintainer of the place Good choices here

I recently got the Many Queens Tarot and I'm loving the unconventional imagery! I feel like there's so much to explore with each card. "Imposing order to make things make sense" is a fantastic description. man this series scratches such an itch in my brain 😂

💜Ooh I love this for you! I love Many Queens. I bought it very specifically for working through some internalized body image / body shape issues and found it very supportive for that. It has become a bit more multipurpose now that I've had it for a time, but I still think of it as a really self-love-helping kind of a deck.

I like to think of the Emperor as bringing stability versus control. Paternal versus patriarchal. Your choices seemed to speak to those traits. A few of my favorite Emperors are the New Palladini, he seems so kind, calm introspective, Guardian of the Night, with a feeling of seeing the whole picture or seeing the long view and Shadowland, with his hat that seems to remind him to laugh while his body language seems to say "I care, I care deeply".

💜This is very much how I've found a positive relationship with the Emperor. I like structure, and think boundaries are important - Emperor helps me there. I am going to look at these Emperors!
