It's good to see women taking Jiu Jitsu. I encourage them to practice with males as often as possible. Don't isolate yourselves with only women partners but find some guys they feel comfortable with that will give them honest tough resistance without being careless. It's the only way to really learn how to deal with a mans pressure and find what will work and what will not.

And if you’re only gonna learn one thing it’s street judo Brazilian jujitsu. No question. Pure class the black belt sweep up the floor in the morning to get it ready for class. That should tell you something right there. Humility and greatness And options you don’t have to draw blood

Silat is or are dangerous matrial arts. It is good to add Silat into your Jiu Jitsu. Many movements which are prohibited in Judo and Jiu Jitsu are practiced regulary in Silat. Jiu Jitsu gives you strong fondation, while Silat makes you more lethal.

@@highlanderthegreat You are welcome. Silat schools are indeed not easily available outside South East Asia. However, perhaps it is not bad because we do not want to see more people get injured. Kani Basami or scissor throw, for example, is a forbidden technique in many grappling schools such as BBJ and Judo, etc. In Silat they use it as a standard technique even for competitions. In fact, Silat develops more than dozen variation of Kani Basami. In my childhood in Indonesia, often time I heard athletes broke their bone etc. I though it is normal. Now after many years practices of several MA I have just realized how dangerous is Silat actually. Now living in Germany for more than 20 years, together with my children I train TKD and perhaps we will add Judo or wrestling before we learn Silat in Indonesia or find a good Silat master in Germany.

I did a Japanese Ju Jitsu class 1 time and watched some UFC and slap fighting. It prepared me for the streets. I'm always tuned in and ready to throw a flying Omaplata to banana split. I only left because sensei just wanted to teach oil checks.
