To Prevent IVDD use only harness Avoid all Tug-a-war games Avoid jumping from furniture (sofa, bed) Avoid stairs. Avoid any injury. Pick up from below the body never by arms. Let them sleep on memory foam mattress, latex or talalay To avoid spine pressure while sleeping As soon as you see any signs of IVDD Immediately crate them for 6 weeks. They also have a back brace that can be worn during this time. If in pain have vet prescribe steroids prednisone and Gabapentin For pain. Sometimes the vet will prescribe a muscle relaxer. What I have notice is that dogs who have had surgery seem to continue to have disc problems and paralysis of the hind legs. I have also noticed that most dogs who came down with ivdd had sustained an injury. Worse one being paralyzed on all 4 legs. Search other RU-vid videos before you rush into surgery and before you decide to euthanize your dog. I have seen dogs who received the surgery and eventually walked again. I have seen dogs that received the surgery and never walked on their hind legs, but with the help of orthotics, prosthetics and carts they went ahead to live more years. Please do not rush to euthanize your dog. Get 2nd and even 3rd opinions. The more you educate yourself in ivdd the better prepared you will be if your pet ever develops ivdd.

This is invaluable. Our pup is going through conservative treatment now. First week that the meds were dialed in correctly. He's getting much better. Have been too the vet, ortho and finally the neuro.

Is there anything in the scientific literature regarding dogs going after their legs? We have a 10 lb mixed breed dog who attacks his hind legs at night when he is sleeping on his bed. He doesn’t do it when he is sleeping in bed with his people.

@SoutheastVeterinarySurgeons I'm in the UK we have a mystery dog.. 44lbs cockapoo.... Last April he wasn't using his back right leg, there was no yelping when it happened. At first we thought maybe he had dislocated it or it was his cruciate.... Xrays and drawer test ruled out cruciate so sent him for further testing where MRI and further x rays were taken of his hips and some joint taps. All of the joint taps came back normal.... There was some abnormalities in his hips so they sent his images off to a specialist to determine what they found. He had a protrusion in the lower back and smaller on at c3-4. Some days it will affect his front legs and other days it looks. Like it affects his back legs. I can hear scuffing. Can a protrusion cause just the one leg to be Non weight bearing.

Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend these days xD

My dog got diagnosed she’s been on meds for a day now and today she’s not eating as much, tired and shaking. I’m keeping an eye on her and I’m not sure how to crate her since I am gone for about 8 hours for school.

This is my situation with my doxie . 4 years old jumped off the chair and back legs just went limp . Three weeks post surgery , stage 1 IVDD still not walking . Therapy three times a day and now just waiting for some life in those back legs . He wants so bad to be a dog . When crate is open he moves around with upper body . Should I crate him indefinitely for now ?

ours was 12,000 at SE neurology. Our Frenchie was fine but acting weird and then later that day became paralyzed. She was able to move one leg and had deep pain sensation in both. not able to walk. I had to wait a few hours which was probably 12-14 hours before we finally got referred and arrived at the neurologist. We opted for the MRI and surgery because they gave a good chance that she would walk again. She is post op day 2 and able to pee on her own. Not standing or walking yet. They said she is moving both of her lower legs to pain which is a good sign. She is coming home today. I am so worried about her walking again as hers came on so suddenly. She means everything to us and hopefully with time she will be able to get back to herself. We are afraid that we will hurt her or do something wrong that will make her remain paralyzed. I know the price is a lot and we are medical professionals with my husband a surgeon. He doesn't make that much in a whole day of back to back surgeries but we ended up spending the money because in our case it was her best hope.
