Ricordo ancora quelli della Ferrari, fine anni 80, che incrociai mentre stavano andando al GP di Ungheria... ricordo che li salutai e ci alzarono i fari... Ancora oggi ricordo la pelle d'oca per il sound in piena accelerazione e per quel breve loro saluto in cui tutti noi, assieme a loro, ci sentivamo fieri di essere italiani. E parlo di un periodo in cui la Ferrari non era ancora nell'era Schumacher. Ma quei due bestioni rossi, il marchio, il cavallino... che dire... un'escursione termica sentimentale notevole. Da adolescente, poi... ammetto che era tanta roba.

I think Iveco could benefit from having a modern V8, that would make them stand out! Apart from Scania, MAN and Mercedes dropped their V8's and the Renault Magnum V8 is long gone...

I think IVECO got rid of V8 engines because of several reasons regarding manufacturing and maintenance, in particular these reasons in no particular order: 1) engine plumbing and wiring; 2) fuel distribution; 3) turbocharger plumbing; 4) fuel management; 5) exhausts; 6) all other items that are connected to the cylinder head. In an inline-6 engine, items on the intake side are connected to one of the engine, and items connected to the exhaust are in their turn connected to the other side of the engine. There’s plenty of room on each side of the engine and nothing needs to cross to the other side so the inline-6 configuration definitely simplifies the engine plumbing layout. Because of the 2 exhaust outlets being on opposite sides and intakes being in the middle, a great deal of piping is required and most of the items are on top where there’s most of the room. This layout is relatively more complicated and maintenance/repair service is much more difficult. Because of the Cursor inline-6 engines being more effective and efficient, technically speaking, this is why the FIAT/IVECO group hasn’t made V8s anymore in 20 years.
Raffaele Ronga yes you are right since I lived this times, one thing became clear in more than 30 years: manufacturers only care about money on their pockets. Its much easier and less expensive and taking account of engine life cycle, yes 6 cilinders makes sense on that way. For the durability (almost no manufacturers dont care about it), less stress per cylinder, shorter camshaft, less torsion, each cylinder bank counterbalancing the other one, heat more streamed, etc etc, the V8 has this advantages. About torque, V8 has more lower end torque and even higher above the green band (Scania 143, this 48, mercedes SK V8). The V8 made what manufacturers has to became, they grew in name and reputation because of the well built V8. Today the marketing is different, probably only Scania survive the V8, because they know what it means.
Toen en nog steeds één vd mooiste vrachtwagens en ik ben niet eens een echte iveco fan. We hebben ze voor de zaak gehad twee stuks, maar teveel trammelant met onderhoud helaas. Maar je heb daar een supergaaf exemplaar, top!
Ik zag er gisteren nog 1 in Raamsdonksveer. Een grijze zonder windverdeler maar mét open pijp!!!!!! En de Chauffeur had er zin in met een lege platte trailer....... Ik heb genoten..............klapperen dat ding......geweldig! Zelf denk ik dat het deze was: picturepush.com/public/14365012 Maar hij was by far niet zo mooi als deze uit de video..........ik denk dat je binnen Europa een unicum bezit met deze geweldige staat. Enkelt in Italie is een schitterende staat als deze absoluut geen uitzondering.........sterker nog...eerder regel! Deze iconische Iveco serie heeft in thuisland Italie een status appart.......of zeg maar gerust een enorme sterren status. Eigenaren van deze wagens kunnen zich daarom ook flink arrogant opstellen tegenover andere chauffeurs....... Zeg maar....,wat hier weleens voorkomt onder bepaalde Scania V8 rijders........ In Italie zeggen ze daar in Truckers termen het volgende over: Scania V8 -> Bella Iveco v8 -> The Beast
Von dieser Maschine weiß ich nur das sie den großen der damaligen Zeit,also Scania und Unimog,mächtig viel Kummer bereitete weil sie wirklich allen bei gleicher Tonnage weg fuhren. Ebenso wie ein Scania 141 oder seine Majestät ,der M.A.N 19:361 Unterflur (Für mich ein unerreichtes Fahrzeug) sollte Iveco im Rennen der großen immer genannt werden. Es ist tatsächlich so das Iveco für den Fahrer etliches in der Serie anbietet was bei allen anderen reichlich Aufpreis ausmacht.Und eine 460 PS Maschine von Iveco ist ein Maßstab für alle anderen Hersteller. Iveco fährt mit riesigen Motoren und Kabinen,einem Ami Truck gleich an Größe durch das gesamte Outback. Und das ist eine besondere Empfehlung.
Has this Iveco V8 engine originally been developed by Fiat? I didn't even know they had v8's. Anyway it does not sound like an air-cooled Magirus-Deutz V8 truck engine. Or does it. After I wrote this, I searched on RU-vid and I think it does. I think I had the sound of much older types in my mind.
hello Arjan,im restoring a 1990 ,190;48 myself,i need some silent blocks for the rear axle stabilizer bar,do you know anywhere?my local iveco garage says no way.
Iveco hat leider viel zu spät die richtigen Leute ans Reißbrett gelassen. Der Magirus von Iveco ist das beste beispiel dafür das sie es viel besser können. In meinen Augen hat dieses Modell den Actros in allen Belangen übertroffen. Aber das ist jetzt nur meine Ansicht.
