I’ve used an HP-C for the past 26 years and it’s the best general purpose illustrator’s airbrush out there.

This is a super airbrush, I’ve had mine since 2011! Heavy hauler, I do enamel, acrylics and lacquers all through this one. resilient and strong. Constantly gives top performance, worth the money.

Have had my C+since 2012 and it still runs strong.Found out there is a kit to change the nozzle from a .3 to a .2,but the folks at coast airbrush didn't think too highly of it.Great video.

This is now my fourth airbrush - I use a H&S Ultra with a 0.5mm needle for primer and varnish work. My workhorse is an Iwata HP-CS Eclipse which almost always uses a 0.3mm needle, and this will be used for the same thing with a 0.3mm. I also have a Creos CS771 with a 0.15mm needle for close in detail work. I am a huge Iwata fan.

DJ, as you probably know I have a couple of other brushes besides iwatas but iwata is and always will be my go to. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

I’ve been seriously looking at the HP-C+ to be stablemates with my HP-CS (which I love). Once again, your timing is scary-good. I admire your communication skills and your laid back presentation style. Cheers!

David, see everything happens for a reason. I meant to hit the "Publish" button for the flag video and hit the "Review" button by mistake. I then retracted it immediately, that video is for next week but some how you got it. I then released the flag video. So I am glad it worked for you but I wanted to give you a heads up for next week when you see the "Review" video again. Thanks for watching.

That's the exact same model that I started with, and pretty much the only one I use. I got an expensive airbrush so I couldn't blame the equipment when I screwed up... 🤭

I have an original HP-C. Had it since high school back in the 80's. Still works but I never liked the huge bowl cup. I always ended up having to use too much paint. Tried the Badgers, which are just OK but I always ended up going back to the HP. I like the tapered cup on the Plus. Looks like I wouldn't need to use so much paint. I also use tape and beeswax still, old habit. Going to "Pull the Trigger" and purchase the HP-C Plus. (Pun Intended) Thanks for the great review!

Get the upgrade wrench. It comes separately or with the repair kit.

After watching your great video and properly setting up iwata HP-C Plus, I start using it and the trigger seems to be sticking. It always bleeds air through the tip unless I pull up on the trigger. And then, there doesn't seem to be any way to control the width/fan of spray. Must be a faulty unit?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
Greg. Iwata is very good with testing all there airbrushes before they send them but...it sounds like an air valve issue. Take the trigger out and drop one or two drops of the lube into where the trigger shaft goes. I don't do this as a general practice because it can cause a sticky trigger over time. If this doesn't work take a short video of what the brush is doing, contact iwata attach the video and they will have you ship it back to them at no cost to you and they will make good for it. I have tlfound there costumer service to be very good. I hope you do as well. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Would this brush be good for a beginning wanting to make scale models? My models can be 1/24 cars and aircraft that could be 6"-12"
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
David, the .3 needle nozzle combination is very versatile and is capable of fine detail. I am not an expert in the in the scale model painting but if I had paint a model I would use that brush. I would reach out to other modelers and get their thoughts. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

A .3 will get you by in most cases and provides good general coverage and decent detail work. If you are doing model cars I might also consider a .5mm as it provides greater coverage which is what you want for even color coverage on a car. I hope this helps.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see you apply any lubricant to any valves?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
Greg, thT is correct. I used to use lubricant but I don't generally anymore. I don't mind putting it on my needle but I stopped putting it in the air valve where the trigger sits. The lubricant can pic up dust and get gummy causing a sticky trigger. Just my experience and opinion. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching

I'm trying to get back into airbrushing after a little over 10 years, I have an old iwata hp-c, how do I find out if the parts for the hp-c plus fit the hp-c? there is no longer an iwata hp-c I'm finding out.
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
All the parts are the same. The only difference is the Mac valve. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage thanks man I appreciate that, i thought they were the same but wanted to make sure before spending over 50 bucks on nozzle and needle. Great content by the way.

My Iwata HP-C Plus is a piece of crap ... the tiny nozzle easily breaks off and takes $50 dollars to replace it ... no more! I since bought a H&S Infinity and what a difference. Now I have a quality airbrush that does meticulous work and easy to maintain. The Iwata HP-C+ I will either give it away or throw it in the garbage where it belongs.
@TheAirbrushGarage

Costinha, sorry you didn't have a good experience with the hp-ch. I really like mine alond with all my iwatas and you use it all the time. I also have an Infinity and like that as well. I appreciate you checking out the channel.
