@@jasonnash4452 when the shitter of the team who gets treated like the golden boy is the reason your team flopped in the end, it would leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Honestly if piglet dropped his ego and had a real coach then he woulda easily been an actual top 5 adc in pro play. He had potential to be amazing even after he left SKT but he just thought he was better than everyone and wouldn't listen to anyone.
Yo Dom not going to lie i rather watch this type of content of you chilling to old League era, especially since you experienced it first hand rather than watching u lose ur mind watching LEC.
@fiorane How do you even hype yourself for that? If it was a friendly match I would show him what's up, but in a situation where you know what's went behind the scenes would you be up to take away his chance to qualify for world's?
Plot twist: Hai orchestrated the entire situation of him "getting kicked from the team" so that he could become Dom's roommate and scout intel so they could reverse sweep them in gauntlet.
@@MrAirZone25 generally, Piglet was known to have a super huge ego and would also just run it down constantly There's also a doc that liquid did years ago and there were massive issues between piglet and dardoch too
Hahahaha Love how at the beginning dom was like... "Nah bro, C9 benched Hai and then we took him in and he was my roommate and we were homies..." *A few minutes later* "FUCK YOU HAI"
I always thought Dom was actually his biggest doubter. Like people don’t realize how good he was but like that Riot ban genuinely ruined his entire career, seriously belive he could have been in the LCS this entire time just recently retiring if things went differently
"The gragas e flash, you guys remember that" one of the reasons iwd was my favorite player ever. Im actually tearing up writing this comment. Thanks dom for so many great memories and always being one of the realist in league.
@richie1496 Nah watching him eat three towers shots for no reason on Corki would make me get up and personally German suplex Piglet on stage, if he plays to his range once Xpecial do the allistar combo on Jensen if he had full hp he would have cleared that fight. Dom was so triggered he didn't see thats why he kept yelling "Why is Piglet 1 HP !!!".
Dom watching the game at the end is real re watching high school football tapes from 15 years ago energy lmao I love it, I need more of stuff like that
Dom: "isn't it funny that none of the top 3 junglers made worlds?" Jungle was so shit that Hai shot calling was worth more than the whole role. Absolutely awful role.
It was more fun. The level may have been way lower, but being able to follow personalities like you, scarra, xpeke, dyrus, qt, the entire M5 roster etc. made the scene way more entertaining. There's not that many established personalities to follow anymore, and many of the people i grew cheering for especially in korea are long since retired. At this point i watch the shoulder content more than i do the actual matches.
I ain't gonna lie after the C9 benching the whole roster n kicking Sneaky n shit I'm not ultimately surprised to hear that C9 booted Hai and it wasn't a retirement, probably the same with Meteos choosing to step down too, kinda rough.
@wanderintaco The fact that he had to play like he wanted to retire too, in the end it was all lack of cohesion for the players, Meteos was a farm heavy jungler that would take the role of the 3rd carry so having Hai roam alot and feeding his resources into him made sense, but as soon as the meta shifted they could have easily find even champs for him to play and still be the leader, if Crown can win worlds playing Malzahar you can't tell me Hai couldn't play things like karma or Morgana mid and go even in lane.
What world were we living in where Gravity was 9-3 and C9 was 3-9 and Meteos-less. It was a sad day when Meteos stepped down only mollified by Hai returning (albeit as a Jungler). But that Gauntlet run was absolute fire (and not just the heartburn it caused from all the close calls). I remember going into Worlds, EU slimebag TomatoCannon said that C9 was a terrible team that wouldn't win a single game. And I think it was Jatt who pointed out that Balls was stuck in Diamond 2 in Korean SQ. Then right away C9 go out and beat Europe's undefeated champion Fnatic and Balls gets a PentaKill on Darius! NA's 7th place Gauntlet team beat a team than ran through all of EU undefeated. LOL
Love the props for HAI! People forget that HAI was both a great Zed and a great Gragas when Grags Mid was a meta pick (not only for Scarra). hai not only beat Bjergsen while playing Teemo, but got a Penta on Orianna against TSM near the end of his career while playing for Golden Guardians. They then stupidly replaced him for Korean Mid Mickey the next split, and that worked out so well that Mickey just packed up and flew back to Korea in the middle of the split and never came back.
I think it'd be really cool for Dom to do some kind of video essay like this himself, both since he has the perspective of a pro player, and also because he himself experienced a large portion of LCS history firsthand. As a sliiiight nitpick pertaining to this video, though, it kinda bothers me a tad when he goes off about fact checking. I AGREE that these types of videos should be fact checked rigorously. But at the same time, if something small is missed (like how long it had been since TL played a match, towards the end of the video) I really don't think it's that huge of a deal. It's not even THAT important in telling the story of this C9 run. Mistakes happen for everyone. Things slip through the cracks sometimes. Idk, I also give Dom the same benefit of the doubt when he mispeaks or whatever. It just happens.
Season 5 was the year I started really playing and getting into league, and C9 was the first team that caught my eye due to their hype in 2014, and me rewatching their worlds performance on that year. Then that dreaded summer pslit happened, and that miracle run started. Honestly that is still to this day my most enjoyable time watching pro league, I really hope a time where you really felt like a competing team was YOUR team and that you always backed them up comes back again someday, but we can look back at these moments and cherish them for what the league was and why we fell in love with it
2014 spring was when i started watching league, My favorite team was dig and qt was my favorite player. i went back and watched all of the archived matches from 2013 and the challengers scene and relegation. summoning insight was my shit. good times man.
Sad to see dom talking about old lcs bc is how we feel about cblol. Changes are scary, as someone who works a lot watching cblol in baiano is one of the way i can relax and laugh, shit has been so many years, hope things workout i don't want to find a new thing to watch
I was just a youngster watching LCS with my big brother and man was I glad I got to watch some of my favorite LCS players all time duke it out. Dom has the right sentiment about it, watching these guys make something from basically nothing was so much more enjoyable as a fan. Even knowing we werent getting out of groups with death groups at worlds was so much fun back then.
Man I miss that era of LCS. That era is what made esports and Riot did everything in their power to destroy what actually made the League pro scene popular and exciting.
Bro everyone kept giving balls rumble, I couldnt believe it at the time. At these worlds he was like d2 in soloq and teams just gave him the only champs he was actually good at
The last 10 minutes just being Dom reliving all of his trauma nonstop from that last series against C9 was quite entertaining (sorry Dom). I agree that more content from when you were playing pro like this is fun to watch to hear your perspective as someone that lived it.
You deserved better, I remember watching back then and even though I was a fan of a different team, I always had respect for you, felt like you were always popping off.
25:48 death times were insane back in the day, you had time to walk your dog, eat, take a shower, take a shit and you would still come back and wait hahaha
He says championship points from regular season are gone (in a confusing way but okay) "for good reason", even though an incentive like that in hindsight probably helped a lot in making the regular season games more meaningful and thus competitive and enjoyable.
This was when C9 made me a fan, it was my first time watching eSports, C9 on that gauntlet was magical, I was watching the series live for the first time. I just went for my gut and thought "Cloud9" was a cool team name and supported them. Good ol dayssss.
Dom with c9 would have actually been nuts. Meteos was insane but looked so much better because hai was his mid laner and understood jungle really well. Dom knew what midlaners needed a lot but his mids never knew what dom needed. Hai and dom would have perfectly matched each other
The split before the bracket stage at 37 minutes was my introduction to the lcs and Gravity was my favorite team cause Keane went 7/0/3 on Urgot mid and i thought it was the coolest thing ever. Oh, to be young and naive again.
Move also had a useful a repeateable jungling method of getting sightstone on nunu and just eating the other jungler camps and warding their whole jungle. A pro strat that actually worked in silver
Mister Dominic, we've talked about this... I know it's hard but It's been 9 years, you have to let go or our therapy session wont work. No, I already told you piglet isn't hiding under your bed.
THOSE TYPES OF VIDEO ARE LIKE THERAPY FOR DOM ICANT reliving traumas all over the place kafjbwqekjfbekqwj Edit: Dom is the original meme of JUST ONE BAAAAD GAAAAME (or series)🤡
Ahh it wouldnt be a Dom video if he wasnt saying he was a better jungler than everyone mentioned in the video. Most of them players that actually won a championship. Lol.
