Travis Edgecombe I understand that however LeAndria need to hear the truth. She’s had yes people cheering her and accepting whatever. It’s unacceptable. I don’t believe Iyanla was passing judgment on her at all. I also do NOT believe it did folk or her any good to have her up singing in their churches with all this mess going on in her life and the mess she was telling out loud and on cameras. No one was telling her how to change, but was accepting the behavior. Let’s be real here. Lean not unto thine own understanding.....she was telling the people that it’s ok to smoke cigarettes. Jw.org if it's really serious about not wanting to lean on your own understanding you would do what Jesus did. He always said it is written he attributed everything he said to the scriptures and his Heavenly Father. Miss VanZant may have spoken the words that touched you but they're not her words. So there's no reason to give her credit. Jesus didn't take the credit neither did she. You can go to this website if you like and you can start your own Bible study. A lot of people don't understand Ministry until they work in it. Its more than a beautiful voice, a wonderful message and just showing up. Or trying to be what everyone expect you to be. One day you wake up and you are feeling things you never felt. A spirit of depression, loneliness, guilty and maybe hopeless. The pain is so overwhelming. After you have ministered to others, you find yourself unable to minister to yourself. Even the people that should have your back isn't nowhere to be found or are useless oblivious to your pain/ struggles. I finally told my I'm in the right place to see the Glory of the Lord. I realized there were things I had to trust the Lord Jesus Christ totally.

Not that I see it as a negative,but Iyanla is a priestess in the Yoruba religion from Nigeria and other parts of Africa. She quoted scripture beautifully,but don't assume she's Christian because she does.

My 1st sentence States I don't see her religion as a negative. My brother practices Yoruba. My intent was to inform people who might assume that she is Christian because she quotes Bible scripture. I never said she's not a woman of God because she's not Christian. But be honest when you hear woman or man of God you think of a Christian pastor.

innerpowerup she does believe in Jesus. Pay attention to what she says. I love her, but for me to continue watching years ago I needed to see she believes in the Christian Faith. Some things I don’t agree with however, it’s powerful to see her coaching people and being real about it.

Iyanla has said it all our trust, and faith, understanding should only be in Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ not man at no time. Because one thing I do know is Jehovah takes care of his people and the righteous is NEVER LEFT OR FORSAKEN.

Absolutely. I'm a little Disturbed how many people are giving out Miss Van Zandt so much credit for speaking words from the Bible. It's like hearing her say the scriptures is enough. But not even Jesus Took the credit. He said it was written. So in reality if these words are touching people by all means go on jw.org or find your Bible start to read it pray to Jehovah God and he'll give you the clarity you need. And if you ask for him and ask for his Direction he'll give it to you. That's what's great about Jehovah he gives us what we need. We have to give him the respect that he deserves. And not be so caught up in the celebrity

They throw Bible quotes at you and you only remember who said the quote you don't remember that their Bible quotes or even bother to know which book of the Bible it's from or who spoke the words.

I may get in trouble for saying this but what the church has called “power” wasn’t really power at all. It was forced legalism through fear of eternal damn nation. Though some may have found some, and I do mean SOME sense of stability, there has been very little room to really address the issues of life, that quite frankly, the church has never been fully equipped to handle. All they’ve used are good famous “Church Cliches”. For example, “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there!” As if it is that simple. It isn’t. The black church in particular, was TOTALLY against people going to therapy. The only thing they subscribed was prayer, which definitely helps, but that alone is not going to bring healing. Some of us have to really go deeper, into those uncomfortable places within and do the work.
