So much talent in a man so humble and genuine. I don't think the world has ever fully appreciated JD Souther's remarkable voice or song writing. The Eagles owe their success in part to this man. Glen Frey tried to sound like JD and came close on a couple of the songs that JD wrote for the Eagles but he was never as smooth or polished. This is a song for the ages.

@@anytimejammin-eva All I know is Around the end of 2021 or begining of 2022 the viewer count was over 1,400.000. Then around March I looked and the views were 466,773. They dropped 1 million views. Why? Who knows, mabey they were trying to charge JD for the free advertising of his song. So he maybe agreed to drop the 1million. Or maybe the person who uploaded the video was being told to pay something to youtube, so he agreed to drop the 1 million views to not have to pay. All I know is JD should get the honor for the great song he wrote and performed. Even tho the performance shown was not actual. The song we hear is a Studio recording. But it would have been perfect except for the two backup singers were WAY off track. Anyhow I love the song. Sorry for the LONG speech. God Bless You and Yours

Legendary writer most people never heard of. Wrote several songs for Linda Rondstat, and the Eagles. Wrote New Kid In Town. So much talent came out of Laurel Canyon back then. JD lived right above Jackson Browne with Glenn Frey in Laurel Canyon. Haunting voice that touches the very soul and an even better writer. Thank You so much JD, for touching all of us with your immense talent.

When the world is ready to fall on your little shoulders And when you're feeling lonely and small You need somebody there to hold you You can call out my name... when you're only lonely Now, don't you ever be ashamed, you're only lonely When you need somebody around on the nights that try you (Remember) I was there when you were a queen And I'll be the last one there beside you So you can call out my name... when you're only lonely Now, don't you ever be ashamed, you're only lonely (You're only lonely) (You're only lonely) Oooooh When the world is ready to fall on your little shoulders And when you're feeling lonely and small You need somebody there to hold you So don't you ever be ashamed, when you're only lonely Ah, you can call out my name... when you're only lonely When you're only lonely... (You're only lonely) Ooh, it's no crime... darling, we've got lots of time, woah oooh ohh (You're only lonely) Woaaah oh (You're only lonely) Ah, there's nothing wrong with you... Darling, I get lonely, too (You're only lonely) (You're only lonely) So if you need me, all you gotta do is call me You're only looooonely (You're only lonely) (You're only lonely) (You're only lonely) Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Souther John David You’re Only Lonely lyrics © Emi Blackwood Music Inc

I'll bet when he finished writing this song, he sat back and thought, "Damn, this is good. I mean REALLY good. I don't know where it came from, but thank you, Jesus!"

Yes - if by 'Jesus' you mean Roy Orbison. Sorry, but 'Only the Lonely' is all over this tune. I'm not knocking it; Everybody has "inspiration" from somewhere, but if you are wondering where it "came from," I would guess that's probably one of the places.
