Only the lonely (dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
Know the heartaches I've been through (ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
Only the lonely (dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
Know I cry and cry for you (dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)

Tom Petty said in an interview that Roy didnt need to move with his singing because he had the voice of an angel.I saw him live in the 80s.

In 1963, I saw Roy perform at Vestavia Country Club at a Frat Party after the Auburn/Alabama football game. I couldn’t believe it was him on a party room stage. I was up front. He was unbelievable. No studio enhancements. Just pure Roy. I’ll never forget his expressionless face and the sound that came out of his voice. He stood there, expressionless and hit notes that only most people could dream of. He was unbelievable on a tiny Country Club stage with a third-rate audio system. But, he was great and something I will take to my grave.

This guy has more talent than all the music artists of today combined. No auto tune, no pro tools, no backing track- nothing. One of the top 5 greatest singers of all time. There is a lot of talent on that stage with him, and they know he is in a whole different league.

"Somewhere in the history of music, whether it's Rockabilly, Pop or Rock n Roll, I would like to be remembered" ...Roy Orbison.
@robpizz
Amazingly this group sounds just as good live as the studio albums, extremely rare you never hear that these days, not even close.

He was like an opera singer for the working class.

I was a WRAAF in the Airforce in Adelaide when I saw him perform. A group of us got together and saw his show. He could hold the audience in the palm of his hand. A Legend!

Literally, the voice of an angel.

Roy's tenor voice was incomparable - still is. He can soar up to those high notes so effortlessly.

He’s hardly moving his mouth and his beautiful voice is just so strong.
