Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is as entertaining on the mic as he is intimidating on the field. Check out what he had to say throughout his Week 13 matchup against the Tennessee Titans in 2014.
He didn't deserve the MVP. The MVP is the Most Valuable Player. The Texans didn't even make the playoffs. If they had Rodgers, and the Packers had Watt, the Packers would've missed the playoffs and the Texans would've made the playoffs because they had the best QB in the game. Rodgers is a far more valuable football player than Watt.
DCK102988 he had the best season out of any player fuck all that "most valuable player" bullshit if thats the case then the QB should get the award every year because they are always more valuable then someone like watt.
DCK102988 not agreeing with you, the MVP should go to the player who had the best year. andy dalton is more valuable to the bengals then JJ Watt is to the texans but should andy dalton get more MVP votes? no he shouldn't.
DCK102988 Making the playoffs is not a prerequisite for MVP. Rodgers did everything he did because of an entire offense. JJ Watt did it with little to no assistance. Not saying Rodgers isn't a great player but I don't believe he would have had such a great season on really bad offense. Rodgers doesn't single handedly make up the offense for the Packers. It's that simple.
It's probably tiring to be one of only 2 people in the history of the NFL to be named Defensive Player of the Year 3 times.... along side the man considered to be the greatest defensive player of all time... I'm guessing you're out of breath walking up the stairs... or taking out the garbage...
He played the game, Helped him up, and played the game again. Thats good sportsmanship if you ask me. He's not gonna help him up and then run the other direction when the ball is snapped. He's gonna play the game
With O-linemen grabbing him, tackling him and he being double and triple-teamed he still causing havoc for the QB --- yeah you could say Watt is a beast!
I was at this game and I'll say it, "this sound fx video doesn't even show half of what Watt did that day." He was a factor on every single play literally. Only Texans fans know this, but Watt is a difference maker on every play he's in on. He forced a few picks, was held by lineman on 60% of the plays, batted a few passes down and was walking up and down the sidelines anxious to get back in the game. Against the Titans and Jags last year, he had 10 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 6 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, a fumble recovered, a safety and a diving TD catch. No one else did that against those teams.
What lineman catches 3 td passes on offense and then on defense he racks up touchdowns and then the fucking sack numbers he had as well and he still didn't win MVP? Come on now NFL
+Ricky Howard To be serious though, it was essentially a toss up between him and Rodgers. Rodgers team made the playoffs, and Watt's didn't. Now of course Watt has less control over that than Rodgers, and there's really nothing Watt can change about that. But honestly, if the Texans had made the playoffs then Watt most definitely would've been league MVP. It's funny how we judge teams on such a seemingly random scale
+KOforLiddell Dude mvp isn't a team award. It's the most valuable player so whether they made the playoffs or not jj watt was the most dominant player in the NFL. I swear shit like this makes me think the NFL is rigged at times. 2 months later I'm still salty over this shit because jj watt was clearly the best player in the NFL last year
It's sad how the Texans have one of the Top 5 Defenses in the League, yet they have the Bottom 5 Offenses in the League. Their Offense is such a joke and it's hurting them.
+Patrick Nadro Their QB situation is pretty sad, though. Defenses will just stack the box, stop Foster, and force either Hoyer or Mallet to throw. They need a legit QB, with the defense they have now.
Travis K. Well Hoyer and Mallet have been looking good so far. Do they need to improve? Absolutely, there is always room for improvement, but they aren't bad. They are just Average.
+George Horna That's what I mean. If they had a better QB than 'average', the Texans could be alright. Without Foster for a while, it's going to be rough for the QB.
Travis K. Tbh, Foster isn't that Great. He's always Injury Prone, every season he misses a chunk of it because he's always hurt. Blue can do a better job, he's a lot tougher than him. As for the QB situation I think Mallet might have the advantage when it comes to the Regular season. Mallet is 6'6" Hoyer is 6'2" The height Mallet has gives him a bit of an advantage, but Hoyer is more experienced.
I honestly think that Watt will go down as the best D-lineman of all time, and has the potential to be the best Defender. Give him a superbowl ring, and a few more DPOY awards... Damn.. He should easily break the all-time sack record too, as well as single-season. Last year he had ZERO help on the D-Line. Now he should have a healthy Clowney, and Vince wilfork in the Middle.
As a Texans fan this is so true he had no help on defense with him clowney was hurt Cushing is still recovering from injury both of our 2 best starting corners kept getting hurt we had an old man as our dt mercilus was up and down we had bad safety's and plus our offense was meh no qb but he was still so dominant but now he has Wilfork, better safety's and corners better lb s hopefully clowney can play and we also have nix that I heard is doing way better
what i like about jj watt is that he will talk trash but its never menacing or personal. its all in the heat of the game. for example the way he helped the QB up after tackling him. respect
I am a Broncos fan and I am still angry he didn't get MVP. When you see such a raw talent like JJ watt has it doesn't matter who your favorite team is you have to stand up and recognize these players.
So true. I had a home improvement project I had been avoiding because I needed help and any other excuse I could find, watched this and went to work! Project complete and the ole’ lady loved it.
+simon berche To be fair the Titans had a 3rd string OT and a bum OT playing this game because of injuries. Taylor Lewan is slightly better to say the least.
That's because he didn't deserve it.
DCK102988 The Texans were one Ravens loss away from being in the playoffs and the only reason they were that close was because of Watt. Rodgers isn't even the MVP of the Packers in my opinion. Most people won't talk about clay Matthews being moved to inside linebacker midway thru the season then their momentum picked up or Lacy being a 1000 yard rusher, or jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb making crazy catches. This is twice in 4 years Watt was snubbed for the MVP. 20.5 sacks, 15 passes defended, 89 plays behind the line of scrimmage, and more assists than can be counted. That was 2012. He had the same season in 2014 but added an INT, 5 forced fumbles, 4 fumbles recovered, oh and scored 5 TD's. If you ask me, UNANIMOUS DPOY, 5 td's, and carrying a team with 4 different qb's to a winning record spells MVP any and every year.
+Daniel Ramirez He's a HOF and crazy thing he isn't even done yet, also broke tons of record and I believe another Defense of the year and Man Of the YearRRR.....
should've got MVP. Rodgers was great, but he did what a bunch of QB's do now. Peyton and Brady and Rivers and Luck. Rodgers was better, but what Watt did has never been done before and it is much MUCH harder to do what he did than what Rodgers did.
I highly disagree.
DCK102988 Rodgers wasn't even the most valuable qb this year so how could he be MVP? Romo had a better season and was more valuable to his team as was Luck, Brady, and even Philip Rivers. It's expected of qb's to throw lots of touchdowns. Especially qb's with good receivers, running backs, and defense. Guess what's expected of bad qb's? Int's, fumbles, and losing seasons. Watt had 4 different qb's 3 of which were sorry. Yet he became the first ever unanimous DPOY, first player ever to record 20+ sacks in multiple sessions, and first lineman in 45 years to score 5 TD's. Oh and the Texans won 7 more games than the year before finishing 9-7 which is a winning record. That's a career stat line for 99% of the d lineman to ever play the game. By the way every time, Rodgers steps on the field the ball is in his hands. Every time Watt steps on the field, his team doesn't even have the ball. Watt made more of an impact with less opportunities than Rodgers. Hands down MVP.
Ok.. when J.J. went into motion for the offense.. I couldn't help but laugh..🤣... Dude is AMAZING to watch! Constantly FIRED up! Hell- somebody please bring me some snow caps to calm down! 😲 Great video! 💪
