J Mascis is set to launch his official Reverb shop tomorrow. Before sending this sparkle purple C&C kit off to a new home, he took it for one more spin by giving us an overview of some classic punk beats.
That's why I hate most punk, especially after the first generation when punk developed all the rules and devolved to leather jackets and playing fast. If I hear another punk cover where they take a classic song and speed it up to ludicrous speed I'll puke. It's just so unoriginal at this point. Nothing is more punk that the Pistols and very few of their songs were even fast, a few were slow, most were medium paced and then they had a couple of fast ones, but even their "fast" songs weren't punk fast. The Ramones got so ridiculously fast towards the end the Joey couldn't even fit the lyrics in. I just don't understand the appeal of that. The Ramones were relatively fast when they started but they weren't insanely fast like they were at the end.
Wow, I never knew that he was a drummer first.and he's one of my favorite guitarists and I play drums and I then learned guitar. I literally feel J Mascis the most whenever he's playing guitar. Maybe because he's a drummer and then played guitar. I connect so much with his guitar playing.
OFFICIAL BLINK 182 DRUM COVERS thanks for that! never was good at transcription and notation. with that said, though-could it be sixteenth note triplets? or sextuplets? or would it notate differently?
Julio Del Prado It would just be 16th notes. 1E& 1E&. Again though, technicality doesn't matter :) triplets would have more spacing, and obviously be in triplet format.
I knew about Witch and last I looked couldn't find any of their tunes but I may not have been looking hard enough. King Tuff sounds familiar too so I'll into them as well.
Met him at a Nick Cave show in Brooklyn a few years back.I had just seen him on "Girls" on HBO in a hotel room, cheating on my girl and then the next day,I meet him.Small world indeed.
