Although Rider has historically been remembered for the "Eastbay Funk Dunk," he was actually a skilled SG, who was a prolific scorer in the league. He had the ability to beat defenders off the dribble, as well as come off picks and spot up.

Exactly. When he was focused he was pretty much unstoppable. Watch the games when he faced off against Jordan and Pippen. However, his weakness was his size. You had long guys like Pip, Penny, and McGrady coming into the league, along with Kobe, and suddenly 6-5 became a good point guard size. That was basically JKidd.

One more note: I'm a Hawks and Twolf fan. I wish KG had asked him about what happened to Rider in Atlanta. I was pissed at the time we traded Steve Smith, Mr. Class, for Rider but I knew Rider from his Twolf days and I knew he could ball. He was putting up numbers in Atlanta and then bam suspended, off the team, all this talk about how Rider was a cancer in the locker room. I would love to hear JR's side of things and talk about what actually happened. He mentioned it briefly but Rider was really doing some work in the ATL before all that started.

I was a really good athlete as a kid I caught a charge at 14 and it ruined my future, I remember now being 32 wishing I had just one teacher or coach to believe in me and help me see that it gets better. If that coach didn’t help JR or Mitch he would of never made it as far, Im a firm believer in helping the youth when you can.

It's crazy to hear multiple nba players talk about how basketball was their back up sport 😳 . Allen Iverson said that he loved football more than he loved basketball. Isiah Rider said the same thing. Tracy McGrady in an interview on " The Pivot" also said that he was better at baseball then he was at basketball!! Insane 😲
