In this video you can hear my rendition of J.S.Bach's “Arioso” for organ from his cantata #156 (Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe) played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Noordbroek, created by Sonus Paradisi
Some days ago I asked you, my lovely community, which work you would like me to record and with over 40% of the votes came Bach's famous Arioso for organ. It's actually not called Arioso but Sinfonia and comes from J.S. Bach's Cantata "Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe" BWV 156. The melody is played by the oboe in the orchestra and is a hauntingly simple but elaborate cantus firmus and really sets a calm and peaceful mood.
And then I did a little experiment to those who are keen on a little challenge: I modified a specific cadenza in my rendition of the Arioso to completely resemble one from another work by J.S.Bach. Can you guess which one that is?! I know it might be a difficult but I would love to hear if one of you can recognize it?
I will give the answer a week from now :)
