I played this back in the 70s in an arrangement by Laurindo Almeida in A-major and I thought of making an easier arrangement for many years. The time has come! It is in G and in standard tuning. Love & Peace, Per-Olov #perolovkindgren
This is why music is the most magical of all the arts. Bach represents the best that humans can do when they are supremely talented, masterfully trained, and diligent. This piece is goodness and mercy in rhythms and pitches. And, of course, no instrument is more personal than a guitar because you cradle it in your arms.
Today I went into Guitar Center and tested out a few guitars. A while later I went to the acoustic room and tried a classical guitar. I grabbed the guitar and sat down. I played Malagueña on the guitar and at the end a man in the room complimented me and said I was really good. I thanked him and we talked about classical guitar for a while and it was cool. He said that when he was a child he loved classical guitar and one of his favorite pieces was "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". That's what brought me here, I actually recognize this melody. I've been trying to find this song for so long, and the day has come. Anyways, excellent playing! :D
can you help me with this Bach piece I'm looking for?? it's a very popular one. ok, if it's in D major, would be like this: bars~> // it's on 4/4 (up = ⬆️ down=⬇️) A//A⬆️DE F# F# E G F# ⬇️A//G F#DE ⬇️G F# C# D// repeats and A.... GF#EDEDC#BA..BC#//DEF#EGF#EDF#..E..//.⬇️A ⬆️F# G A D~ //.. B ⬆️ G# A B E~// etc... this is an ornament ~ up' n down on that note.. I'm sure you've heard this piece.
@@carlostejada1479 new feature in Google, Humm or sing it, or play it, in the search for song option, and you'll probably find, I know it is sometime really annoying when you are unable to find things on the internet, but try it because I have also found some pieces I knew the melody and not the name, Guess that would be helpful, Thanks 😊
This is great, marvellous performance. I always wondered, how did Bach write his music? It has some kind of perfection to it. There are a lot of musicians and composers I like, but Bach, he alwas seem to baffle me with his simplicity and utter perfection, it's like he cracked the code all musicians desperately try to crack, but he did it, and there are no mysteries to him.
+Léon Ruhe Bach was employed by the King/ Emperor and had to compose almost weekly, for various events in public, whether is was in honor of the mayor of the town or to celebrate a celebrity's birthday. He was compelled to be busy, and as a result, he was prolific.
Sherlock Holmes Perfect music indeed, but in his time he was somewhat limited by the range of musical instruments. Bach never played on a piano today. Imagine what someone like him could achieve today. It would be a total eargasm.
He actually used a very consistent formula in his music. It's the reason he's the cornerstone of the baroque period and fundamental to music theory. The method is so contrived and useful he made short work of his job of producing new music each week for the church and it allowed him to create a catalog that few can match. There are interesting videos where you can watch a piece get dissected and put together from many of his other pieces. They get arranged based on his rules and viola' new song. He was the cut and paste master of his day. It's funny though, towards the end the musical up and comers used to mock and tease him about how old school his music was. It's interesting how history has a way of sorting out greatness in the end.
Years ago today... J.S.Bach died on 28 July 1750. Best way to remember him is listening this beautiful performans. Thank you Mr. Kindgren. Stay safe and cheers 🥃
Dear friend and Gentleman. I know! And I am surprised you knew this date! Great! I am honored you listen to me. Cheers to Bach, creativity and talent!! Per-Olov
Music gives a soul to the Universe.Wings to the wind..Flight to the Imagination and Life to everything..Plato. I could listen to Per-Olov Kindgren play Guitar all day long..Thank you
My daughter 6 started her first lesson last week after listening to your music. She listens everyday in the car 💖 hope she continues and get to play the music you play. Thank you for posting
Hi! That sounds awesome! Thank you for telling me! I really hope she will keep playing! Next to love, music is the best! Give her a hug from me! Per-Olov
I became acquainted with this rendering of “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire” through a friend in 2016. It is thanks to this friend, and Mr Per-Olov Kindgren, that I took this year my old iron-string (yes) acoustic guitar off its shelf and began studying Mr Kindgren’s fingers- of which the music I never really stopped listening to these past three years-and some tabs here and there, until I reached the point (I think) where I can safely say what follows: that I can now play one of my all-time favorite pieces of music myself. I am still working on it quite a bit, though. For these lines, these heavenly lines, and chord progressions, and harmonies, they are just so indescribably smart, and sound so miraculous, I underestimated exactly how hard for an amateur musician (how indescribably hard, as now I must say) they could be to play gracefully. I was naïve enough to believe, just by watching you play, sir, that it simply could not be that hard it seemed so perfectly logical (it was logical, all right - it is the "perfect" I am currently having trouble with). But, that is what he was about, isn't it? Seeming simplicity, heavenly sound, and mathematical rigor - and an ensemble so glorious, and right, and good, it is of him I think about whenever I hear or read that which is probably my favorite quote of all time, by Nietzsche, that "without music, life would be a mistake." Well, it follows it isn’t. Per-Olov (as your signed in the description), your reverence to Bach in the end is my reverence to you. Thank you, Mr Kindgren!, for inspiring me with such virtuous and passionate dedication. Thank you, Bach!, for reassuring the faith of us all in the human spirit and the Divine alike-and are they not one and the same?-; and for making your case so eloquently through the ages that there would be beauty, and it would all be worth it.
I think you're a really good player, and you have probably worked hard for many years to get to this level. That's why I hate when people say "you got talent" "god gave you ect...". It's almost an insult to all the hard work you have done.
I know none of you know this, but this song in particular, was one of the 1st songs I ever heard in my life. I never knew the name, so I looked for it for a while. Then, I came across this talented musician and fell in love with every movement that he does. The precise movement of his eyes, the way his hands shift and the way he feels as he plays. Wow...he deserves to be recognized as an amazing performer!!
This isn't easy to do, I'm trying to learn it on my guitar! This man has spent many hours practicing to make it seem as if it flows effortlessly. Great work!
I played this piece (a lot slower) to my guitar professor and his eyes lit up as it brought him back to his younger college days. I study Bach on my own as its a challenge though I really love black/death metal, I think Bach is best as theres a lota cool math and variations on themes. Whenever I wana hear a master play this piece: I go to this video. Hopefully, I can play it that fast soon! Im struggling on a steel string as my nylon is in repair right now. Thanks
@Per-Olovkindgren you are a supernatural force: guitar got fixed literally the next day. Wow. Now I got no excuse! Thanks again man whatever you're doing: don't stop!
@@Blackout0O0 YAY! That's great news! Yes, no more excuses to play it. :-) And I hope you will enjoy it even if it sometimes is hard and difficult. But in the end, it will always bring you joy and happiness! To comment your last words: Likewise! 🙂 Happy playing. Per-Olov
You're truly inspiring, sir. It's been almost ten years that I haven't taken classical guitar seriously as I used to, and I have found inspiration to go back to it and practice it thanks to you.
Wonderful pacing and superb dynamics, no one has ever quite captured the beauty of this piece like you achieved here sir. 30 minutes into learning this, .. The scope of it just dawned on me, my god this is impossible😭
My one time favourite, rejoice rejoice in our Lord God Almighty our Christ Jesus Amen. Great interpretation by this respective performer . Thank you 🙏🏽
Very nice to hear this again. I bought your arrangement years ago and play it more often than not when I pick up my classical guitar. I've adapted the repeats to match the original Bach and will be performing it with a talented soprano singing the chorale part later this year! All the best and thank you.
I am new to classical guitar and this is one of the first pieces I've worked on. Your playing is an inspiration and I often watch this video to learn from your playing....so pure and sincere...thank you
It's the subtleties of his playing that separate from the best. Articulation is key and it shows the difference between pure chops and musicality, he presents the best in musicality. Well done Sir
Mr.Per- Olov,You sir are an absolute master. This rendition of one of the most melodic Bach compositions by you caused me to smile and also be mesmerized at the same time at the sight of your unbelievable command of the instrument. If anyone actually sees my comment please look at his right hand.During the beginning of the song he plays it very mellow and sweet by placing his right hand as close as possible to the neck but at the same time every note is Crystal clear... During the middle he intensifies the melody by moving his right hand closer to the bridge and finally finishes the performance by bringing it full circle (back to the neck)...The dynamics left me awestruck
My dad used to play that beautiful piece of music on his guitar when I was a child and it's been my favorite ever since... Really well done, a great childhood memory captivating and yet soothing! Thank you so much for this enrichment. I wish I could play this classic on the guitar as well as you do, let alone play the guitar at all :-/ So once again kudos to you on this excellent job!!! This is one of the many reasons why classical music will never die: thanks to amazing artists like you and based on its extremely brilliant sound and ways of composing. Keep up the good work! ;-)
Compliments! The beauty of Bach is the fact of being able to play on any instrument without losing substance. This is because the Bach's music is pure music. Thank you!
I can't decide whether "God" is inflammatory here! ;-) At first I thought you were going to thank God for J.S. Bach's music, but on second read, it sounds like you're using the divine appellation for emphasis.
Absolutely amazing , remember when as a youngster I was having piano lessons at a convent & in the next room I heard one of the nuns playing this piece on piano , it absolutely blew me away .
Bach's songs are the most difficult ones among all the songs that I have played by using classical guitar during the past few years since when I was 16 years old, even more difficult than that of Barrios. His songs require not only techniques but also a kind of balance which perhaps is the heart of polyphony.
most of time, I have to follow the opera as accurate as possible, however, sometimes, this is also not enough. How to put my passion into bach's songs without twisting the initial meaning is really really hard...
I don't mind repeating that this music of J. S. Bach is the melody of my whole life. The most meaningful and the mot loved. This will be forever. Thank you so much Bach. 🙏 😔
@@Per-OlovkindgrenAnd...it is even more meaningful to me as a born again (John3:3) christian because it pays homage to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ!!!😇🥰
Bach must be so proud you’ve studied m his music so carefully and played beautifully so that people hundreds of years later can enjoy Bach’s legacy. 🙏🏻 God Bless.
