I saw something once that said american black people that didnt grow up in certain environments act like their from the "hood" because alot of us arent connected too our culture from whatever tribe that may be. So we identify with the hood culture that some of us are around and thats pushed in the media because thats the closest thing too a culture we can recognize as our own.
As a black male growing up in the suburbs I definitely did feel like I had to commit crimes and be a thug to be "black". I outgrew that mindset when I was like 17 tho
This a whole conversation but i think theres some merit too it. I mean in some areas you arent black if you speak properly, i could definitely see if you hang with certain people and idealize certain behaviors for so long that their idea of what masculinity and being black is. Cause in some circles being a hood rat flashing guns is something masculine men do. Doesnt mean it actually is what they do but its what those people think it is. And i think ja is trying too identify with that crowd
that’s facts. oddly enough i feel (to a certain degree) black ppl who haven’t experienced the hood to a certain capacity get affected in some way in life. certain things in the hood you won’t find nowhere else… like love.

Yep, like I told a whole bunch of Ya'll-qaeda folk, I felt safer and less tense when I was doing work out in Afghanistan as a contractor than going to any range with those nutters. You may not like it but music low key the only place he learning that behavior from. You look on a music video for a rapper and usually one of the scenes from the video will be in a car, under the influence of drugs and around firearms. That lifestyle is promoted to be “exciting” and “cool”. So when you add in a young man to the mix, they soak that stuff up from whatever age they started at. Throw some millions in there and they now try to emulate those behaviors which leads to cases like Ja Morant. Everything that he does and his mannerisms all resemble a rappers persona. Blowing thousands at strip clubs, buying grills and jewelry, vices and most rappers try to portray a tougher image. All that ties into Ja’s actions. Yea he grown but that doesn’t mean he’s wise enough for sensible decision making.
