I do like lil Uzi’s music (20 mins is my favorite song of theirs) but I agree that they do appropriate / cosplay as a rockstar and it’s self evident that hip hop artists/rappers desperately want to be like rockstars of old and hence the cosplaying.

The thing about uzi is it’s not like he is “bringing rock music back” but more of he is changing it to fit todays standards of music. I’m not saying it’s good, In fact I think it is 20x worse then guys like chuck berry and jimmy Hendrix who are ACTUAL black rockstars but in order to grab the right audience for the album he has to make it sound new while bringing back older genres of music. You don’t see that everyday from a rapper, and I respect the fact that he had the courage to go in so many different directions on the album. I would say so far it’s the album of the year for me, but that is only because the quality of music this year has been garbage aside from 3 or 4 albums. If anyone disagrees feel free to let me know what you think 8.5/10
