When i was seven or eight I was a huge Liverpool FC supporter , and through some connections , for about a year , was able to gain access to the players for autographs inside Anfield in the foyer . That would be around 82-83 . One saturday lunchtime , the security guard spotted me and said he would let me in to the players lounge for a moment to get some autographs . Somewhat taken aback , I wandered into the lounge and immediately focused on Hansen , Whelan and Lawrenson sprawled on a big chair watching Football Focus . Can I have your autographs ? Without saying a word or taking their eyes off the screen , my book was signed and passed around the chair and handed back to me . Thank you I said and left the lounge . Made me feel like shit . Maybe they just resented the intrusion on their time , but still ..... Anyway , Craig Johnstone was cool though when I met him at a post match function .
