My favorite fact about JB is that both his parents were space engineers. His mother worked on the Hubble Telescope and designed the equipment that got the Apollo 13 crew home safe while she was giving birth to Jack Black in the hospital.
Fun fact: Jack Black was considered for the role of Hal Jordan / Green Lantern in an unproduced screenplay by Robert Smigel. The idea was ultimately scrapped by Warner Brothers for a less comedic screenplay.
Kyle Gass was not the youngest person to Graduate from Juliard, lol, he didn't even go to Juilard. They just made up that fact and got an applause for it XD
While appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on November 15, 2006,[5] Gass claimed to have been the youngest graduate of the Juilliard School of Music with a degree in classical guitar studies at the age of 13. Juilliard did not have a guitar program in 1973, but began its graduate level guitar program in 1989 under Sharon Isbin, and its undergraduate program in 2007. Earlier, in an article in the Sunday Times on October 29, 2006, Black stated that Gass was the youngest graduate of Juilliard.[6] On May 13, 2008, Gass was a phone-in guest on the Adam Carolla Show. When Adam Carolla asked him "... And did you go to Juilliard?" Kyle replied "I didn't. I-you know, I made that up as a joke," he continued, "and I thought it would be hilarious, and then I've been hearing about it ever since. Apologies to Juilliard." -Copied from Wiki-
@@CalsFlyingMachines Yes, I don't hold it against him at all because any musician can tell instantly that it is a joke, it just seems to be lost on the general public
To be honest neither really made that much money from TD, they made a living. Jack is pretty rich, but it's almost all from the movies he's starred in.
@@JDeanMurray You can easily deduce they didn't make that much money by how niche TD has historically been, the fact that they had cult classic, but not exactly super financially successful media spinoffs, and they've never been up there in record sales or seen the production, exposure or As it was Tenacious D only really started to see more widescale marketing years down line around their movie release, which flopped and left them in a position of again playing to a niche musical crowd. Kyle would be far wealthier than he seems if even a portion of JBs wealth came from TD, he clearly doesn't care that much about it (seems like his thing was always the fact that everyone knew jables and kind of looked him over if the TD documentary from the lead up to the film release is anything to go by). Honestly in recent years it almost seems like it's JBs film career that's funding TD and allowing them to do things that otherwise wouldn't turn much of a profit for fun. I love Tenacious D, but they've never had mainstream appeal, and Jack clearly made the his money in the film, not music, industry. You can also see this by the fact that they only really started getting big interviews after JB broke out in Hollywood, meanwhile even moderately successful band's see constant interview opportunities. I don't even understand why you'd take this negatively, it isn't some kind of insult, it's just pointing out some observations.
@@zaynes5094 I mean Kyle doesn't seem that well off compared to musician's who've been financially successful in the industry, and JB is incredibly wealthy, but that's entirely because he broke out in the movie scene (which also got TD way more attention as well). Tenacious D is a niche musical experience no matter how much we love them, and while they are a bonafide cult classic loved by many, being niche isn't exactly profitable in today's world.
It is so funny every joke is sarcasm, but in the end he is saying, "we kicked ass after that clip we were showing, i wish we wouldn't kick so much ass." And the world, didn't believe how much ass they kicked in this movie yet.
It's not the one on Jack's shirt, but I actually helped manage a restaurant called Wake & Bake in Jacksonville, Alabama. Pizza shop with a full espresso bar. Man, that was a good time.
Kyles that guy you think needs a friend and realize he’s actually a fucking down to earth genuine dude,..that shreds. He’s funny too some of his jokes were going over everyone’s head.
@@PastaImposter Yeah, and how the hell do you read the date? Here in Europe we write dates in the order of year, month and day but as far as I can tell that can’t be the case here since the second number is 15 and last I checked there’s just 12 months and not 15. So, is the first number the year, the month or the day? The second number the year or the day? The third number year, month or day? Help me understand if this clip is from 2011-06-15 or 2006-11-15? And no, I refuse to google this. 😁
@@secretjazz93 He stole the mystical saxaboom to summon a demon. But JB karate-kicked him in the face, with a flip, and then Kage broke his guitar on the dudes nuts. Then the PoPo arrived, late as usual.
4:50 not only like this guy can sing like a fcking god with such a high range from low to high, he also manages to do a perfectly executed growl without any kind of warm-up (I bet). This guy knows his vocal chors better than I know myself.
Have you never seen the POD tour behind the scenes where they go on a talkshow (was it Jay Leno, I don't remember) only to find out they just wanted Jack, even though they were promoting their movie. Kage was pissed (this is where the rage kage comes from) for obvious reasons, and Jack, who was also pissed, had to both talk to the TV executives and calm Kage down. Kage has talked about it a few times, and seems to be pretty at peace with it now. JB is the face, even though they are both part of the band, and because if his movie career he has more starpower. It's like that one friend you have who just draws attention while you sit in the shadows.
The entrance alone... 😂 And then Kyle wearing Flip Flops with socks! We need Pick of Destiny 2! I need something to laugh and forget this crazy ass world.
Love these guys. I remember watching Conan with our 1 channel we's get by antennae growing up. By far the best such a shame how they handled his show. They showed they were clueless.
Omg I did that washer sprayer thing too including the rear window one. Filled it with piss lol!!! It was an 81' honda civic. Thought we were the inventors of this masterful prank.
