As a Sabres fan now I agree with the wow he is very good but McDavid is unreal. Eichel turned out good and can be an 80-90 point guy if healthy all year. Connor is a 100 plus easily and super fun to watch. Hope dahlin makes them a better team.

+LoneWolf Airsoft Don't fret, McDavid just looks fancy. No way in hell does McDavid have the strength Eichel has or will ever have. McDavid is so fast and some good hands but he has to be careful in the neutral zone when he shows this off. Fucking flattened in the center ice broken everything out for the whole season. Where EIchel has the strength to plow through guys or deke them out and can get into tricky spots to make a play. Eichel and McDavid are going to be generation, but Eichel is the guy you want to lean on for those gritty games.

xCoreProductions Too many variables in that hypothetical. Matthews COULD be a "generational guy" -- or another Yakupov. The lottery next year won't be just for the first overall pick -- there'll be lottery drawings for the first, second, AND third overall picks . . . thus, the Sabres could finish last overall and not only get the first overall pick (AGAIN), but have to wait until pick #4. The Sabres have done enough "losing to get better" -- its time for them to start WINNING to get better . . .

m64h I never suggested tank. I said if we got both, it might be a little poetic justice for missing out on McDavid. Chances are, sorry to burst your bubble, unless Eichel has a Crosby/Ovechkin level rookie year we won't make the playoffs in 15-16. But we should be much improved and close. I never said Matthews WOULD be generational, but that he could be. He did outscore Jack Eichel's USA Dev team numbers. As far as Yakupov, I don't know what you were reading/listening to, but no one ever thought him to be generational. (Side note) He's really not that bad, it's his support in Edmonton that is lacking. Watch him get near 30 on McDavid's wing all year.

Christopher Camden No question McDavid is faster and has better hands. But Eichel is stronger, more physical, and really creative in the offensive zone. He also seems to have a better shot/release than McDavid, although I could be wrong there. McDavid is better but not by "miles." Eichel has dominated every level he's played at. His rookie season in the NCAA was historic. And important to note that he was playing against older, bigger, and stronger players in NCAA than McDavid has in the OHL.

Christopher Camden Get over your blind Canadian bias for a second. I don't doubt that McDavid being ranked no. 1 over him is for good reason, but you underestimate eichel's skill level. McDavid > Eichel but not by miles as you claim. The real test comes in seeing who has a better rookie season vs MEN
