That genuinely upset me. Probably because my name is Dave, and even if he’s a literal fictional murderer, it hurts seeing another Dave being put down like that.
The worse part about this is the fact that Dave genuinely cares so much about Jack that he goes out of his way to stay out of death's grasp just to see him alive and well. And Jack literally puts Dave down for four. straight. minutes.
@@krafuae well, this Dave IS the side of him that's been manipulated to believe his own worth is directly linked to certain other's opinion of him. That he always has to prove himself in the only way Henry responded with a hint of approval to. It would make sense that THIS side of Dave would be the one with attachment issues and who's convinced himself Jack surely must want him by his side as much as he does. Dave's soul, however, was still imprinted on by Henry, but he retains at least some glimmer of his self-worth while recognizing all the harm he's done. Anyway sorry about a whole-ass character analysis as a reply. I really wanna keep going w the soul part but I gotta stop.
**TLDR: The character's designs and emotional states are what make the endings for DSaF games so powerful; the strong bonds the characters form with both other characters and the player and the sheer amount of personality they have make it impossible not the empathise with each individual character, so when there are moments of strong emotion like these, the player feels more strongly towards the game because of those emotional connections they have with it.** I feel like every ending for dayshift at freddy's 3 is an absolute masterpiece: they all emotionally affect the player (the bad ending had me crying) by either introducing the characters as these upbeat personas, then putting them through absolute emotional hell, or by using the relationships formed between the characters (such as the bond between dave and jack) to control the player's emotions; when Dave and Jack are happy together, then the player shares their happiness, but when things take a turn for the worse (like in this ending), the storyline plucks at the player's heartstrings by having the two most closely bonded characters in the series grow apart. The character designs are the cherry on top in my opinion: the characters in this game are so full of life and personality that you can't help but love them, so when a wrench gets thrown in the storyline and we see the characters in very emotional moments, we just can't help but feel those same emotions and empathise with them. The neutral ending is one of my favourite endings specifically because of this argument that you get to have with Dave, well... if you can even call it that. It's pretty much just Jack letting out his innermost feelings: his frustration with Dave, his hate for the old freddy's locations, and all the pent-up rage he's felt over the course of the whole series, and it comes in the form of Jack absolutely SHREDDING Dave, who 100% deserves it. However, Dave is also one of the main characters, so over the course of DSaF, you get to know him regardless of what endings you choose: he's designed to be a broken spirit whose coping mechanism is humor. You can see this in how incredibly clingy he is; Jack literally points out how Henry's been dead for 40 years and Dave still can't let him go. When it's revealed by Dave on the Flipside that he is an orphan, and had spent all of his life alone until he met Henry, it all comes into perspective: he just wants someone to love him, and he simply can't come to terms with the fact that Jack, the only person (that's still alive at this point - we'll ignore Henry for now) who ever loved him, doesn't want him anymore. He's even more emotionally damaged because of the manipulation he was put through when he was with Henry: Henry never actually liked Dave (as is revealed in the Good Ending) and was simply using him as a 'human meat shield' to cover up his crimes, and Dave is so drowned in mental abuse that he just simply can't accept that, even if he wanted to. He can't let go. The emotional toll on the player from that realisation - combined with Dave's on-screen visuals of him with tears streaming down his face - is designed to put anyone's heart through a paper shredder, and does so with pinpoint accuracy. Now, Jack is an entirely different basket of exotic butters: instead of breaking down under the weight of his own problems like Dave does in this situation, he takes control, finally tired of being trodden on by Dave and Steven (original phone guy), and even Peter (his older brother) and Dee (puppet) for his entire life. Dave always regarded him as a sidekick, which even reflected in his nickname 'Kiddie Strangler V2' - when you first meet Dave in the original DSaF game, he takes you on as his 'lackey', calling you 'newbie' and making you do his 'dirty work'. Steven is always yelling at Jack, his subordinate in the corporate food chain, calling him the condescending nickname 'employee' and scolding him for even the slightest mistakes. Peter even went as far as to frame Jack for the murder of their little sister, Dee, who took on the form of the puppet after she died at Henry and Dave's hands. However, in the second DSaF game, she is insistent that Jack free the souls of the dead children murdered by Henry and Dave; acting like it's Jack's only purpose to be a vessel for justice where she failed. In every one of these relationships with characters, Jack is being bossed around and told what he's supposed to do and when to do it. Every character he interacts with makes the subject of Jack's hard work and effort something other than himself, building up this enormous burst of white-hot hatred within him that pools over the course of the series, and finally gets reflected upon in this ending: the reason Jack loves running his own Freddy's so much is that no one can boss him around anymore, and when Davetrap tries to make himself the centre of attention, the reason for Jack's 5 months of hard work, Jack completely SNAPS. He simply can't stand another moment of standing to the side, taking control of his own life instead of having others choose his path. Damn I love the character analysis. However, wasn't it Henry who framed Jack for Dee's murder? He says in the tapes that he'd blame the night guard dying in the back for her death, which was Jack Speaking of the tapes, listening to them was honestly heartbreaking, and makes you feel even worse for Dave. Not only was he manipulated and was solely dependent on Henry, but he was also used for sick little experiment ideas and Henry took out a lot of his internal organs. It made me feel awful the first time I listened to them. Still, Jack totally had the right to go off on Davetrap here
Oh, forgot to mention, I never really thought about Jack enjoying running the restaurant bc he could finally be in charge, but that honestly makes a lot of sense. I like that
for people who don't know. this is the feral???? dave. the real dave is dead and in the afterlife (flipside) the real dave feels REMORSE for snaggin the kids(at least for the most part) WHILE THE FERAL DAVE COULN'T EVEN LET GO OF HIS *DEAD* BODY. so yeah jack was only yelling at the immortal dave
Flipside Dave can see through the eyes of real Dave and he reacts to things you do to Davetrap when you go back to the flipside (like how in the good ending after you burn down everything and go to the flipside Dave just looks you and he is like "omg sportsy that wow", so flipside Dave did see that, Wich is heart wrenching bc this speech made the child murder part go out sobbing, imagine how actual character Dave felt lol
The duality of the “now get the fuck out of my restaurant!” In this ending and the good “ending” is the fact that THIS ONE is more aggressive, more targeted at Dave, where as the good ending; Jack was playing “the cards”, helping save a kid, and somehow putting it into Dave’s mind that he NEEDED TO enact revenge, the good ending Jack was being a hero, but “normal” ending Jack was just sick of Dave’s crap.
I mean, dave killed his sister (which basically made him blame himself for it probably) and his "friend" henry, he basically just left jack to die (honestly im pretty sure he 50% blames dave for it tbh) its pretty obvious that jack's pissed off. But dave is definitely an odd friend, but he just wanted someone who accepted him as an aubergine☹️. But I don't blame jack for being mad at dave, that guy killed his sister. Although the bad ending is really heartbreaking because you KNOW dave cares about jack. anyways bye🤓☝️

fair but also dave (dsaf, not fnaf) had his brain experimented on by henry and was manipulated and abused into doing henry's work and thinking it was okay, his actions are not excusible of course but there are reasons for them
