Thank you for uploading this old episode of Star Hustler! I have enjoyed watching Jack Horkheimer for as long as I can remember, so if you have any more Star Hustler episodes, please upload them. Thank you again!
They used to show this after Doctor Who on Saturday nights back in the 1980s on KAET Channel 8 in Phoenix. I remember Mr Horkheimer really hyped up Halley's Comet for weeks (as well he should!). I tried to catch it with binoculars but didn't see chit! Oh well, I'll try again when I'm 90 if my eyes still work or if anything still works.
Great memories of this time, and of watching the Star Hustler. I helped with a "Halley's Comet Two Timer" event, but most of the astronomers, myself included, figured most of them thought they remembered Halley's Comet but there was another much brighter comet in 1910 they most likely saw and remembered.
I watched this very episode during the time I was trying to see the comet. I never managed to, because north Texas clouded over for most of March and April of ‘86. Doc Hork was a riot, though. He certainly enjoyed his job more than I did mine.
Got a telescope for Christmas in 1985 from Sears and because of light pollution from the construction of the Birmingham Turf Club south by southeast of me I couldn't see the comet from my hilltop house. Maybe I got it early in '85, cannot remember. who cares?
I was born in Birmingham in 85, and was always kind of sad that I missed it. I guess I would have missed it no matter what due to location. Small world.
Yeah, bummer. But I did get to see Hale-Bopp in 1996 with the naked eye and finally got to use my telescope to see a comet. It was spectacular with 2 tails. Very cool.
I was 11 then and definitely remember that one thanks to the heads up from our buddy Jack. Nice to talk to someone from the Ham with similar interests. :)
I was 8 years old at the time, I never got to see it, I knew about it but we didn't have a telescope or powerful binoculars to see it as it was too far away.
