Cute, cute, CUTE! I'd never heard this adorable tune before -- love it! I must say, while its safety may not be comparable to that of today, plane travel during the Streamline Moderne/Art Deco era certainly seems more glamourous than what we know now. Dancing in flight 1: 38
Wonderful! I think this record is what got me 'into' music of the 20's and 30's when it was given to me in a pile of others, with a windup portable gramophone, at the age of 8 years old.... Loved it then, love it now, and I still have that original (had it now 50 years) in amongst some 4000 others....
As a child I remember we had this record. Apparently it was my parents' special tune when they were engaged (they married in 1928; I arrived in 1930). My father always called my mother "Jane", although her name was Ethel!
Oh, I do wish I was the right age in 1927. I know terrible things were about to happen, but what fun this was. But when I was smaller much later, I used to hear Jack Hylton and love the Charleston beat. He seemed to personify the 20s, even then.
@@JasonJason210 Yes, but you'd go mad with envy and jealousy if you let yourself think like that. The financial differences were enormous, but things are not so much like that now. But, there always will be differences.
I Had this 78rpm Record years ago and I still Remember the turn but didn't know at the time when it was Recorded and I think that he was the first head of the BBC Dance Band from 1928-1932 when he was Replaced by Henry Hall
The same Lockheed L-10 Electra SP-AYC of LOT which appeared here on 2:40 operated the Helsinki-Tallinn-Warszawa line in 1930s. I have the original photo where the same plane is on Tallinn Ülemiste airfield.
I've got an old video-tape of this when i secretly recorded my mum singing it. must be mid 70s. How wonderful it would have been for her and past generations to see and hear tunes like this from their youth on such a platform as this.
Still really cool though! If you're proud of your mom's singing, would you mind to perhaps upload a recording of a cassette player playing it (if your mom agrees, of course). Wait, "...secretly recorded my mum singing it"...I wonder if it's still a secret and if your mom would ever allow you to upload it to RU-vid.
Did you notice, the plane with that nice Jewish couple has no engine at all? Perhaps, the power of their love was sufficient to make them fly :-) Happy New Year, my Dear!
Happy New Year 2013 to you Grzegorz - and everybody who visits your super chanel! This upload is adorable, fun and entertaining. I agree with Elizabeth (Trombology) that frame 1:38 - dancing on a plane is fun. Last year I danced Swing and Tango on New Year's Eve event. This year I will be watching Cabaret performance with some friends. It should be fun - but I don't know if we'll dance. Will let you know! Happy New Year 2013 to all of us - RU-vidrs!!!
Delightful montage of when flying was not only sophisticated but fun. Wish I could understand the Hebrew @ 1:56. I think it says L'Shana Tovah, traditional greeting for the Jewish New Year, which takes place in the fall around harvest time. Anyway, Happy 2013 to you and all your many fans--our little digital "club."
