@@PhoenixRising200 they've done several disney covers, caleb often taking the hero ones with jon taking the villain songs. Their ranges and styles do the roles credit
The subtle emotions of doubt, fear, sorrow slowly turn into hate and anger in this version. As if jack gets more mad at the idea of sorrow. Completely different take and I love it.
"There are few who'd deny, at what i do i'm the best, for my talents are renowned far and wide" There's far more truth to that line than i think Jonathan realizes.
@@panielrosebud heyyy i wasn't trying to critizise, I really admire him and I am 100% sure he'll do great!! And about the bad spelling, English is not my usual language and I'm still trying to learn, hehe. So, sorry if my comment offended you or anyone, and thanks for the correction, it will help me improve 😊
The raw beauty of this…. The power of this…. The eerie black and white ambience is a perfect pairing to the haunting vocoder and vocal performance. It is so beautiful I actually lamented. 💀🎃👑
This is freaking genius, is almost Gregorian but it's the deconstruction of the song to the bare vocals, this is spectacular and super pleasing because is essentially your voice and nothing else.
There are few who'd deny, at what I do I am the best For my talents are renowned far and wide When it comes to surprises in the moonlit night I excel without ever even trying With the slightest little effort of my ghostlike charms I have seen grown men give out a shriek With the wave of my hand, and a well-placed moan I have swept the very bravest off their feet Yet year after year, it's the same routine And I grow so weary of the sound of screams And I, Jack, the Pumpkin King Have grown so tired of the same old thing Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bones An emptiness began to grow There's something out there, far from my home A longing that I've never known I'm a master of fright, and a demon of light And I'll scare you right out of your pants To a guy in Kentucky, I'm Mister Unlucky And I'm known throughout England and France And since I am dead, I can take off my head To recite Shakespearean quotations No animal nor man can scream like I can With the fury of my recitations But who here would ever understand That the Pumpkin King with the skeleton grin Would tire of his crown, if they only understood He'd give it all up if he only could Oh, there's an empty place in my bones That calls out for something unknown The fame and praise come year after year Does nothing for these empty tears
What's this What's this There's qual-ty everywhere What's this What's this Please do a cover of what's this from nightmare before Christmas Jon I implore you
Dear god I. I dont even know how to talk about this beauty. I wish I had more music knowledge cause Holy Shit dude. I'm just gonna stop making requests cause literally every cover of yours(and your originals are just as kickass) Have always blown me away
The fact that you you did this cover at this moment is kind of appropriate. Both because it's October.... and that everyone seems to skip Thanksgiving & go straight to Christmas these days.
This is giving me Phantom of the Opera vibes with the sort of sound you're going for. This isn't Phantom but it's absolutely wonderful that you added that sort of darkness to this. :)
do more Nightmare Before Christmas tracks please, in fact, please do a metal cover of my favourite Nightmare Before Christmas song Kidnap The Sandy Claws
i love most of your covers, instrumentals, vocals and all, but the skill and effectiveness of a pure vocal track is never to be understated! Amazing work :O
I sang this song as a graduation test for the music subject from my theatre school here in Brazil. I have a tattoo from that movie also... Thank you Jonathan. Just thank you.
How did I miss this?! I am ashamed of myself. This definitely hits differently, but I'm living for it. i have a whole spotify playlist for you and Hyles. Still working out how to explain to my mom that the metal music I'm blasting when I'm not known for metal is in fact Disney songs XD
The end brought tears into my eyes. How much do you relate in this moment of your RU-vid career? 'The fame and praise comes year after year, does nothing for these empty tears' Stay healthy Jonathan. We love you, and your talent, but true fans don't want you to die inside (Barbie Girl) to do these covers. We want to hear your rendition of songs we already like, best of both worlds!
@@moonstone6133 I disagree. I think he could actually have fun with it. Barbie Girl is a trash song to start with so there was no enjoyment to be had there, but Carameldansen(sp?) is a fun song to bounce to. I think he could have as much fun with that as he did with the Hunkules line in Zero to Hero.
Well I feel like Johnathan made it justice he kept with the creepy mood and for a song like this there isn't much more you can do. Unless you wanna make a heavy death metal cover
Jonathan, this was beautiful and haunting. I'm a little concerned. Are you doing okay? You looked like you could relate just a little too hard. I hope you can get a hug soon.
Just added this to the playlist that I like to listen to when working or going to sleep... this could be interesting as the last thing to hear before passing out.
I am once again asking you to make *Bleach Openings* I will survive every pandemic and every catastrophe until you make at least one bleach opening. Period.
As one of the few who wasn't really into Nightmare Before Christmas, this is still striking. You have such an incredible range of expression (and everyone of your controlled blinks, wow!) that the focus on your face and the black and white color just contributes to a mesmerizing effect. Of course, you also sound terrific and it's always fantastic to hear you drop into those really low notes. I'd like to see you sing the Dentist song from Little Shop of Horrors. It'll fit the Halloween theme, and I think it'd be right up your alley.
@@pablotomasllodra4423 Finding anyone who knows about Disney properties not through the original but through Kingdom Hearts is just pleasantly satisfying.
