I am a heavy user of this 1500 Jackery user. And I LOVE it. I travel almost full time. I cook almost every meal with an air fryer... which my jackery powers. big thumbs up
If Jakery is the ONLY unit available, it by default is the BEST unit to have. NO ONE WILL SHIP TO HAWAII! 🌋🏝🌊 But I got lucky a few days ago and Costco had a few 1500 unit sets complete with 2, 100 watt panels for $1899. I have no shortage of sunshine. We received our last shipment of coal a few weeks ago. 25% of our power was coal generated. We have been warned of rate hikes and rolling blackouts. So, I just need sufficient energy to keep a few things running.🥴👍🥳
I agree on the need for fast recharge times. My reasoning is that you will have either limited sun & most likely 20 to 40% less power form a supposedly rated panel than you thought and my plan is to run a small Honda generator a short amount of time to quickly recharge the battery.
I've used my own panels on every jackery and knockoff like genark I've had the pleasure of testing. I don't agree with those companies and I have found better like ecoflow and bluetti. My Ac200p was solid so went with an Ac300 and plan to expand to two Ac300 for split phase for my clothes dryer and 6-8 3kwh batt packs.

Jackery's most redeeming quality is that they always have a solid performing Inverter. Besides that, the propriotiry jacks, limited solar wattage input, limited voltage on the solar input and they still dont have a model with a lifepo4 battery is making them fall below Bluetti and Ecoflow.
It's almost like they followed the exact steps that goal zero did with lead about 10 years ago....a business model that's doomed to fail in the long term

i feel Jackery is more for the weekend or occasional user. The limited battery cycles proprietary cables and longer recharge rates all work for this mode of use. I have a 1000 but will never buy any of the bigger units because of the solar charging issues ie cables connectors and such. Jackery needs to step up if they want to be viable with more serious users.
What do you recommend us to use in an emergency to power a full-size kitchen refrigerator and a 65 inch television continuously the grid in my area goes out constantly I definitely have to have a continuous run refrigerator for my medications
I am traveling across the country in a month or two. I have thoughts of running a mobile fridge. If I connect this to the cigarette lighter which automatically turns off when I shut the engine down, and I am running the frig using pass through power, will the jackery keep the frig cold and while not using the car also keep the frig cold. We plan on being in the truck for about a month, driving between 4 to 6 hours a day.
I'm not 100% confident it'll work unless the vehicle is turned on charging it again every single day for a decent amount of time. I would definitely have a couple of solar panels to go with it too to ensure the best outcome.
It was mentioned in a bluetti AC300 review that they system will be useless if the screen goes out so thats probably the same for jackery. That newer bluetti system can be used with a app though. Still jakery dosent have the best history with a reliable beefy systems so will be a hard pass for me.
I've never cared for Jackery. Yes, they are wildly popular, moreso in the past than now because they seem to be a company that's content with sitting on its laurels and not big on improving their product while other companies improve. I've always consider any Jackery to be overpriced--the batteries as well as panels, and the proprietary needs frankly just stinks. I would predict in the coming years that other solar batteries will leave Jackery in the dust with better products.
Agree with Jackery not being as great as it's advertised. Using it while trying to get my solar panel rack built now for 2 years. Proprietary cables suck! Took me another to get on dual cable replaced & difficult to communicate with tech support to understand what, I needed. My jackery 1500 is only used for electricity at night if I'm fortunate after 6 hrs charging on 300 watts to get up to 40 % now. One 100watt panel has broken wires on inside panel box.. which cannot be fixed & replaced comes in a set. Trying to figure out connection to be able to hook to my regular solar panels
How does one find a solar generator that charges relatively quickly on a car's dc outlet? It seems a van dweller would have a hard time without tons of solar panel power.
It's really the cars DC outlet that is limited. Generally they will only push out anywhere from 100 to 120 watts max. Sometimes you can "hack" them by upgrading the fuse in the fuse box to get a little bit more out of them but still nothing substantial. Basically, cars alternators aren't designed to push out enough power through that small cigarette lighter port to support high charge rates in solar generators.
I do not like Jackery personally. Unless you're wanting to overpay to use only their solar panels. I personally don't like the AC300 either because the idle draw capacity is 64 watts. Meaning just to have it turned on it uses 64 watts. That means in a 12 hour period (a single night) it'll consume about 768wh of battery capacity which is about 25% of the entire internal battery. That's a lot of battery power to just be throwing away just to have it turned on. The Titan and the Delta pro only use about 11 watts for idle consumption. poweredportablesolar.com/shop/ What are you wanting to run in what situations? For example a fridge, freezer, tv and phone chargers during blackouts. That or same items after a hurricane etc... With that info I can help give an idea of what system would work well.
@@minutemanprep I’d like a system that could be portable to take on the road, but also be a good emergency back up for home in a blackout situation. Lamp, microwave, fan, electric kettle, phone charger, etc. basically off grid with the ability to put the panels a far distance from the unit so the unit can stay inside out of the sun.

Hello. I understand you are reviewing for larger purposes; do you review units for city life? Smaller but necessary needs such as blackouts in apartments or private houses in the suburbs? Different than RV and off the grid life, but just as important.
Absolutely, that is what I am reviewing these for. My primary focus in for blackouts and use in the home. That is why I test for how fast it can recharged by solar and if it will run equipment long term. I do not recommend the Jackery 1500 for blackouts. The EcoFlow Delta Max or Titan from PoweredPortableSolar.com are good options.
@@minutemanprep Unfortunately, those units, like the Titan, are too heavy and cumbersome for this elderly woman to handle. 65 pounds is out of the question, and breaking into two 33 pound sections to move and then reassemble is still much more lifting and carrying than many older people can manage.
@@mizg1595 I understand for sure. That is why the Titan is designed that way to make it easier. Unfortunately it's impossible to to get equipment that is powerful enough to use for emergencies that is lightweight. Possibly 10+ years in the future we'll have something different but that is the best tech can do right now.
Well it all depends on what you want to run. For true long term power, the Titan is what I use. For small mobile power for small things, the EcoFlow River Max or River Pro are good options.
I noticed that you have each pair of 100W panels in parallel; and that you thought the max voltage was only 30V. My understanding is that the max voltage is actually 52V, and that each pair of panels should be in series, not parallel. I know the specs for the Explorer 1500 say 12V - 30V input, but I think they are incorrect. Each 8mm input should be able to handle up to 300 watts; so in theory you could get 600 watts total. Try putting each set of panels in series, and see if that doesn't improve your wattage. 🙂
The exact input paramters are 12.5-54v & 8a. A single 100w panel makes about 20v, so putting three together makes 60v which exceeds the parameter and is guaranteed to destroy the charge controller. You can exceed amperage but not voltage on charge controllers.
@@minutemanprep I was just thinking of putting 2 * 100W panels in series on one input, and 2 * 100W panels in series on the other input. Definitely not 3 panels in series. My understanding is that each 8mm input has a separate MPPT charge controller with a max of 300 watts.

Agreed, but they're actually more affordable once you factor solar panels since the Jackery solar panels are ridiculously expensive, and you get WAY more power and expandability to adjust the system to your needs over the years out of the Titan, but you don't get that option with the Jackery.

500 cycles,proprietary solar plugs plus the 400watts PV in??? Why would any one prefer this station unless they're already invested in Jackery? If some1 really takes just 5 minutes to do the research before they go and drop thousands of dollars,would they seriously choose Jackery?
