👍🏼 Jackfruit is monoecious, with male and female flowers together on the tree. Male flowers often preponderate on young trees.

David The Good sent me to your IRIE channel, for seeing your recent experiment of planting fruit or nut trees in the same hole, but since I have a jackfruit seedling for planting sooner than later, clicked on this interesting video. Being in the interior of the country, jackfruit has been growing in coastal regions as well as the southeastern part of my country, but I'm in the interior and even though we have a subtropical climate, one very important factor is present, the rainy season is only present here during the summer, the "seedling" is 3 feet tall and aching for space, i had two others but they died(for lack of space?)Thumbs up, liked and subbed, greetings from Mexico. :)

@@PracticalPrimate Well, they're fine,but they dropped all their leaves but they're still sprouting new leaves....its as if they're tired of being in pots and want freedom of space, lastmonth I watched an Argentine's videoon how to help a young tree, dig a deep hole 1 meter wide x 1 meter deep, fillwith rich soil(in my case, rich volcanic black earth)and insert a pvc tube to water directly down into the earth and close to the tree's root system but the earth I'm dealing is so hard and rocky,to get it dug I'm using a pickax! Hopefully by the Spring Equinox(March21st?)I'll have 'em planted.

Hello from Alberta Canada, Do JackFrt go dormat in winter and loose the leaves? Thanks
@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate Год назад
Hi Duncan, no if they lose their leaves they are in a bad way. They can only handle very minor frost, if it gets below 2 degrees C for any amount of time they will be very badly damaged or killed.

I had no idea that you could help the process along. Lucky mine has set about 10 with more emerging every day.

With as many flowers as yours has I bet they will be full :) with poor pollination (if they don’t fall off) you get a heap of rag and fewer arils/juicy part. Looking forward to hearing how yours are! When did your fruit start to form, they are looking great!

Hi mate, I was curious to know did your first female flower/Jackfruit holds to maturity to harvest? I'm based in Sydney and if you check out my first Jackfruit video, mine flowered pretty late in Jan-2022 which at present is still holding on but I am concern when winter hit soon in June that this fruit could drop!

Hi mate. This lot got eaten by my dogs unfortunately haha. I’ll check your vid out :) This particular tree has 6 or so on it at the moment and the largest are getting pretty big, going to find out if they beat the cold this year! Some of my younger trees seem to flower a bit earlier so a different cultivar/seedling might be worth a go if yours don’t beat the cold. How large are they at the moment?

@@PracticalPrimate Nice, and thank you for the tips as this is my first Jackfruit this season.. I guess will see what happen in a couple of months when winter arrives. Just went out to my garden to do the measuring on my odd elongated shape Jackfruit and on average it is approximately 28cm long x 16cm wide. Also congratulation to hear this season your Jackfruit tree produces 6x times the amount as compared to last year :)

@@PracticalPrimate I kind of stopped uploading videos and checking my subscriptions because I was depressed that my Fruit Punch Mango and Hass Avocado died... but life goes on so I picked up some new trees and now I'm back posting again. Love your content though.

@@zengrow3098 yeah we all have those times I think. Two years back we had a record frost here and my trees were only about a year old. Lost a bunch, wasn’t fun. Took me a while to start again.

@@PracticalPrimate spent the past 2 years hand watering fertlizing shading etc... my mango and avocado and they died this year. I guess the key is to grow so many things that you aren't floored by the stuff that fails.
@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate 3 года назад
That’s it. They toughen up after a few years too, it’s harder at the start.

interesting how each of those nubs form a section of the fruit.. i was watching that SAS-ASMR girl eat a jackfruit and saw her pulling out sections and now I know how they are formed!

@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate 2 года назад
When there are both male and female flowers :) if it’s a mature tree it isn’t really necessary, but if you only have a few flowers on a young tree then worth doing.
