She is best known as the singer of "What the World Needs Now Is Love" and "Put a Little Love in Your Heart", and as the composer of "When You Walk in the Room" and "Bette Davis Eyes", which were hits for The Searchers and Kim Carnes, respectively.

This is rather embarrassing. Jackie is being tarted out to perform a Buddy Holley cover when in fact she was one of the most gifted songwriters and performers ever.
She was gifted but should have left this song to Buddy... I suppose that it was okay then to compliment a woman without being charged with making warranted advances and pilloried.
It was even worse in country. On the Opry, didn't matter how good a woman singer was- the presenter would just say she was real pretty, whether she was or not.
