Cheyenne went to the same high school (Newport High School, Newport Washington) I did but was part of my sister's graduating class. We performed in a community singing group called Northwoods Performing arts. He has always been a class act. I wish him all the success in the world.
Come on now really, what 14 year old wouldn't want to have a voice like Ms. Evancho. Come to think of it what fifteen to eighty five year old wouldn't either. She is blessed, and she kind of knows it too, how charming.
She is blessed and she knows it, she is loved and she knows it, and most importantly, she has so many years ahead (try to imagine hitting a genetic Mega Millions at the age of 10).
I find the sound quality and balance in this recording incredible for a live performance. Even the piano accompaniment is perfectly blended in. Congratulations to the sound engineers on achieving such a remarkable result.
@@wilburfinnigan2142 Cheyenne was Jackie's host for the concert, given an opportunity to lake the lead in this duet. Jackie chose the harmony part as a courtesy. It was the only performance he gave in the entire concert. You really ought to stop repeating this "drowned out" nonsense, lest you continue to embarrass yourself.
Today on the radio I heard the rendition of "Say Something" performed by Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World. It seemed so flat and unemotional compared to hearing the performance of Jackie and Cheyenne on this video. Jackie and Cheyenne took this song to a whole new level of musical expression. They incorporate so many wonderful nuances in their interpretation of the music. This recording sets the bar for how this song should be performed. It is brilliant!
IF... we could have heard Jackie over the piano and whats his face !! I hate to see these young pretty girls get used as stage decoration for some ego driven guy !! Sorry but MY opinion !!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142 Nonsense, this duet was great. Their voices blended and synchronized perfectly. Each one made the other one look their best, and make the sum look better than each of the parts, exactly what a great duet should do. Jackie could probably have overpowered him, but that would not be a great duet, it would have been Jackie showing off.
The purity of their vocal union at .57 seconds in this performance gave me goosebumps. Wow! Jackie just takes the forte of his voice and seems to enfold it within her crystal clear harmony. Wow, I could listen to this performance for a long long time!
+Amjad Michael Khan >~Cheyenne Jackson is Grammy winner of The Broadway Stage & along with being a great singer, I can see why they pic'd him as duet partner with Miss Evancho, and along w/ being the PBS Concert MC. They both did a great job on this song, it doesn't get much better than this!
+Kyle Cymru Thanks, I did not know he was a broadway star. I saw some of his other videos where he performed without jackie, and was not as impressed with him as I was here. But if he was a Grammy winner and broadway star, he obviously has great talent, and his great performance here is no surprise. Jackie institutionally knows the meaning of duet, two meshing perfectly, the object is to make the pair look as good as possible, not just her. Jackie always performs with the best, and manages to make them, and herself look even better.
Great technique from both singers, perfect intonation, and STUNNING use of emotion in each phrase that made the lyrics shine through. This is the best rendition of the duet version that I have ever heard for this song, bar none.
I freaking love Cheyenne Jackson's voice, so powerful and beautiful. One of the best singers for sure. It's really sad that he's not getting the recognition he deserves.
@@wilburfinnigan2142 You are totally unaware that this was Jackie's concert for PBS. Cheyenne Jackson was her MC whom she honored with this duet, allowing him to take the lead while she assumed the harmony. That's the kind of respect Jackie consistently shows her guest artists.
As an English Lady Living in France I have recently heard Cheyenne singing ""Lennons""" " if all the people" His voice showed so much emotion ;it was an epic performance for AIDS FIGHT.
Jackie's parents have asked her fans not to put her on a pedestal. So we try to pretend she is like us: Not an alien, not an angel; just a normal person, only more talented. Then something like 3:06ff happens, and her cover is blown, for just a moment. I watch this over and over, and even though I know what's coming it makes my heart skip a beat.
It is quite amazing that despite all the richly deserved adulation she gets she remains the delightful grounded Jackie she has always been - unlike so many of her less-deserving contemporaries. Difficult not to put her on a pedestal as an example and inspiration for us all.
Jackie Evanchos PBS Special DVD "Awakening" has just been released, to the public, yesterday 6-2-15 and I got my 6 copies today from Amazon. It is of excellent quality and contains ALL the non music outtakes originally found on the original PBS broadcast. I highly recommend all three of her PBS special DVDs for Jackie Evancho fans and those interested in quality entertainment. My favorite remains to be her first one "Dream With Me". Jackie says she can run fast. She appears to be naturally athletically inclined and, yes, she can RUN FAST.
While still preserving the stunningly heart-wrenching edge of the original piece, they did a beautiful job taking out the contemporary junk, and turning it over into a pure class performance.
I've been searching through various version of this song on You-tube and I keep coming back to this version with Jackie and Cheyenne and I think it's the best one out there. Most sound engineers give prominence to the male voice and this version is no exception. Jackie is a background vocal to Cheyenne's voice but it doesn't take away anything from the obvious talent on display here. It's been a pleasure to watch Jackie grow up and I look forward to the day when she is in full control of her career and can sing what ever she wants, sink or swim. I know she will swim to the finish line and there will be a gold medal waiting for her.
The reason so many good singers like to duet with Jackie, is she knows the meaning duet, 2 singing as one. She does not hog the spotlight for just herself, but knows the duet goes well, when each of them makes the other one look great, and the sum is greater than its parts.
Dave said it right. Jackie is pitch perfect. Her beautiful melodic voice is special. This girl will rise higher and higher in the music world. I do, however, miss the classical she did in the beginning of her career.
Say Something,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Omg, Jackie Evancho and Cheyenne Jackson, it was absolutely an alluring and stunning performance. Love it. Just purely love it. And Jackie, young lady,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you are growing up more and more beautiful, simply beautiful. God bless you two.
Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! This girl needs to sing more songs like this!!!!!!!!!!! And then we can start talking about the practical longevity of her career!!!
There are many good duets, a duets i like is this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RGA8wE5rxO8.html with Björn and Agnes, björn did Hook on a feeling for like 1000 year ago………
This song wasn't a commercial success until Christina Aguilera joined A Great Big World to record it as a male/female duet. It then received a Grammy award as the Best Pop Duo after it was released as a duet. The lyrics are just as easily sung by a female as a male.
I like that the duet version, lyrics sung in unison, conveys the emotion experienced by both men and women. Jackie and Cheyenne express that beautifully.
I don't know what to say. Every time I listen to every songs she sings, are always beautiful and amazing like her. Cheyeene is also amazing. In this song they showing their charisma which blends perfectly so as to make the listener get carried away with their emotions. Wonderfull song and wonderfull singer. It's better then the original song. I love JE.
The four Jackie concerts I attended Shippensburg, Strathmore, Carlyle, and Baltimore Jackie was near flawless and the one thing in common was that the time flew by and her audiences always seamed happy and cheerful
Spectacular! Jackie's voice becomes more beautiful and refined each time I hear her and this performance proves again what an exceptional performer she is. I've never heard a more perfectly blended duet.
Every once and a while I hear the original of this song on the radio. I so wish I was listening to this version I like it so much better. Why can't we get JE's music on the radio? I've heard other peoples covers of songs on the radio.
Pop music is what the people want to hear. We have tried and tried but the only station to carry her music so far is the Classical station KITC somewhere in the Northwest. It's been very frustrating believe me.
This is as close to duet perfection that I have ever heard! (The only problem I have is that I could never sing this song with Jackie because I could NEVER give up on her---as a wonderful person, as a beauty ,and as a marvelous singer!)
Since having been enamoured by J.E; & C. J; Interpretation of this poetic wording. I'Ve listened to many other artist rendering of the same song . The harmony of Jackie and cheynne, is unique the melody sublimed .Charisma class . EMOTION LOVE IT
There is nothing negative about this young artist in my eyes, she is talented and appears to be a shy person, I will always admire her and remember her from AGT. No girl of her age could sing like that, and she has, continued to impress me, which at 72 years is hard to,do.
Jackie you have grown up right before our eyes in such a short time but still and always will have the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. You have the voice of an Angel. Gods Peace to you and Merry Christmas.
Ive listened to jackie ever scince she was 9 on my mpt channel tv screen... she is my age and oh my goodness her entire life revolves around how well she sings, she is such a prodigy.
Lily Flower Many of us have been long-time Jackie fans. If you sing, why not put up a video of yourself singing? That's how Jackie got her start and got recognized. Or any other talent, doesn't have to be singing. Another who became known through YT is Emily Bear, one of the best young pianists. Heck, there's even a young girl martial artist who blew the judges and audience away with her skill. So it really doesn't matter what your talent is, just go for it, Lily. :)
No it really doesn't there are boys, school, friends and of course shopping. Now she is a self made millionaire from singing and her entire family depends on that reality. But she does a really nice job of compartmentalizing that and keeping it real away from the stage. She has to live under a lot of pressure and expectations few have to face. She has plenty of anxiety and fears. The teen years can be tough no matter who you are.
Jackie, I have watched you from your very first performance at AGT, and you are still my favourite. You have grown into a beautiful young lady. It would be nice to hear your two sisters sing, too.
Sadly not all of us can appreciate Jackie's voice. It is so true. I listened to all kinds of voices for 62 years, I' m leaving out 10, when I heard Jackie that ended it. I'm hers.
What else can we say, she's perfectly good with anyone to duet with. Love listening to them 100 times and still want more! Hope she invite Josh Page in her concert and try duet with "Say Something. Love her voice so much and this wonderful lovely kid.
She will be appearing as a "special guest" at Andrea Boceli's 1st ever concert in Bangkok, Thailand April 26. I can just imagine a duet of them singing "Con Te Partiro" together. Man would I love to be there.
One of the finest duet sessions ever produced. The blending of the harmonics is virtually flawless, and while listening to this performance through a good set of headphones I found that the matching of the separate vocals truly has the ability to totally immerse any listener into the heart of this soulful song. Perfection personified.
Totally agree. I am not a fan of duets but this absolutly remarkable. Miss your comments for a while (the old guard that I enjoy reading when found Jackie). Hope you are fine.
Thank you for the reply and for your concern. I am doing quite well for now. I have actually been away (in the UK) for a while working on some movie soundtracks and I am glad to be back in the USA again! Take care and good day to you.
Jackie has always understood the meaning of duet, 2. In a duet, the purpose is not to make yourself look good, but to make the pair look great, so its much better than the sum of its parts.
Beautiful. Harmony of both voices a pleasure to hear ..Only fourteen my goodness . Dearest Jackie what a gift you are to all who love you. Proud and happy family with all your members an English lady wishes you all happy christmas and continued wonderful future.
This is the best as it gets. If you have been enjoying Jackie's videos here on youtube be sure to run down to your local Walmart and buy her latest release "Awakening".
