People like the live Stay, but whoever asked the crew? JB's catalogue is filled with songs looking for a way out of his stardom, Running On Empty is and so is The Pretender. The scene at the time was being cocained to death.

Jackson Browne was an original member of my favorite band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. He left them after a year, had a basement apartment in LA and tormented his above neighbors with his getting his first hit just right..over and over again.. The song? Doctor My Eyes. The upstair neighbors? Glen Frey and Don Henley. Linda Ronstadt another huge voice you need to hear, wish I could have heard them all at the Troubedour.. American Dream by the Dirt Band..Please?

Yo, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, definitely. I had their first 5 LPs I think. Love those guys. They played my (small) college and blew the roof off. Must been 1973 or 74. And… the first 2 “Will the Circle be Unbroken” albums are true American Classics. What a great band on so many levels.

A song that I think anyone who watches the seasons of their life pass on by can relate to. "Looking into their eyes I see they're running too" That line gives me goosebumps. None of us know what the hell is going on. Such a great tune.

Another great Jackson Brown song is "Tender Is The Night" which came out in the early 1980's. He also sang a great duet with Clarence Clemmons, who was the saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, called "You're A Friend Of Mine" (One of my personal favorites) which was a very catchy duet and the video also stars actress Daryl Hannah singing background vocals. "Running On Empty" was in the film "Forrest Gump" with Tom Hanks when Hanks was running across the country which was a very memorable scene.

This was a great album and road song that we used to play on road trips around Texas. There is a really good live performance of this band doing the songs "The Load Out" and "Stay" that is definitely worth viewing. Thanks'.

Funny how on Stay he inserts the line "the roadies don't mind" as if anyone ever asked the crew. Running On Empty is a song about being sick of the road set against a road trip beat.

This was my senior year in hs. We grew up during Vietnam. Civil rights. Then Watergate. Tremendous economic troubles. All we wanted as we entered adulthood, was to escape it. Listen to Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” or Bob Seger “Night Moves”.

The Loadout/Stay ... it's a two-part thing that goes together so make sure you find a video that runs them back to back. But it's not very long at all and it's one of his most iconic songs along with this one. But I mean he had so much really great stuff. But if you listen to that, you will get why he was so popular and you will get a better glimpse into his personality. Plus it's just well constructed and beautiful.

My favorite Jackson Browne song, and a great choice for a reaction video. That said, the video of R.O.E. that you watched/reacted to, cuts off before the song actually ends. I highly recommend that you seek out the full length 4:59 second version, with its triumphant ending. Incredible lap steel guitar by the late, great David Lindley!

Hi Ms. D., U are correct this could be ones driving song.. Not sure of what U know or do not know, the sound that the guitar was making is because it is a slide guitar meaning he had a small bottle or metal over one finger sliding it up & down the strings.. ♠W.G.

Jackson Browne has a lot of good songs Somebody's Baby hit number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 one of those Classic 80s song that was on the soundtrack to the movie High Times a Richmond High a classic High School teenage movie from the 80s definitely give it a second chance maybe it Will grow on you because Somebody's Baby definitely a classic 80s tune

"Somebody's Baby" was a weird anachronism from Browne. It was probably his biggest hit, but it doesn't hold up because it doesn't sound sincere; he's going for something. This, however, is completely sincere and everyone over 30 can relate to it.

You might get the impression from this video that Jackson Browne is a great guitar player, but he is better known for his piano playing. As far as I know, he is mostly just a strummer on guitar -- the leads in this song were by the lead guitarist in Browne's band. And too bad that the kicking ending to the song was cut off. This song was actually recorded live in concert, and the audience roars its approval at the end.

For the more cynical view of California, Warren Zevon and his songs Desperadoes Under The Eaves or The French Inhaler which has a lines that can make you just pause it and play again...

You should stick with 1970’s Jackson, and Somebody’s Baby was really written for the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It was not a typical Jackson song. Check out For a Dancer, These Days, Fountain of Sorrow, The Pretender, Late for the Sky and many more.
