Jackson Browne Take It Easy 0:00 / Our Lady of the Well 3:40 (For Everyman)
Co-written with Glenn Frey of the Eagles. Jackson at one point lived in a small duplex underneath Glenn and his then-roomate, J.D. Souther. Glenn heard him composing Take It Easy on the piano as he laid in bed upstairs. Browne was frustrated with the song and was going to give up on it, but Glenn thought it deserved another chance. He filled in Browne's lyrical gap with the line "It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin' down to take a look at me" and recorded it with the Eagles - and the rest is history.

I agree. He was also a gifted animator, and the co-inventor of 'Gumby'. When I was learning to play the pedal steel guitar, he was my favourite and main mentor, as David Lindley was for me on the lap steel.

Steve Cox agreed! It’s unreal, I almost wanna add in Leland Sklar to that also, but David really was part of Jackson it seems. The way they lock in is jaw dropping, it works so well. Love Sklar too though!him and Kunkel MADE JAMES Taylor, and I like that

I took lessons from a really good pedal steel player for a few years, when i asked him about Pete's part in "CHristine's Tune," he just said "He's i a differrent tuning, one which the likes of us are probably not destined to understand." It was an E tuning but I never nailed it down.

Written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey. I know that music is subjective and arguing about who is best and what is best is personal. That said, I've always felt that this version with string wizard, David Lindley, was my favorite over the Eagles version. One man's opinion.

JB 1st album had D Crosby doing harmonies...hard to top that...but this next album had bassist Doug Heywood on harmonies. He captures that Crosby vibe while maintaining a unique vocal tone. I love the Eagles Version of Take It Easy but this composers version with its understated balance of acoustic guitar and the truly brilliant swirl of Sneaky Pete's pedal steel. All of that sharing space with the incredible imagery of JB's simple rhymes but powerful themes and melodies. 50 years ago JB foretells " across my home there grows a shadow of a cruel and senseless hand..." but later, after " it has taken me this distance (sounds lime he left his home) and a woman"s smile to learn...and to them I must return." Sorry for any confusion with my cherry picked paraphrased examples. My opening farewell leaves with another. JB classic -"Let creation reveal its secrets by and by, by and by When the light that's lost within us reaches the sky.". This guy is overwhelming...
