The dude isn’t even old enough to drink yet, there’s ZERO reason to rush him to the bigs and expect him to be a seasoned veteran. Let the guy develop, he’s now facing guys who can control every pitch, huge jump up from the minors
I agree . He’s gonna figure it out . A lot of baseballs greats started just as bad as him . And all turned out okay . Soon as they fix that front foot issue .. sky is the limit
Hey- O’s fan here, though not knowledgeable on the subject of mechanics. I’d appreciate a side-by-side, super slow section of the video with your explanation. 🧡
Thanks for watching ! I try and do these things from time to time . I played in the Os system back in 2010 .. let’s say I have a better eye for coaching than I did playing haha
It also doesnt help that a lot of the pitch sequences that he has seen from pitchers have been pretty nasty. They are attacking him up and in and low and away. He is definitely chasing some of those balls away and then gets tied up with something gross on the inside. But you are right, he needs to relax that swing and not try to hit bombs right now. Just focus on making good contact and the rest will come.
AAA is not going to help him anymore. He's already mastered it. There's a BIG gap between AAA and MLB pitching. He has to adjust and needs time to figure it out. I feel bad for the guy because of all the hype surrounding him, and now since he's not performing RIGHT AWAY, people gave up on him. Not just talking about outsiders but O's fans as well. That's the saddest part. Love your videos man, keep up the great production!
I agree . All the better arms are in the big leagues bc of all the injuries . Not much down there that will attack his holes consistently to learn anything
I think he’s gonna be fine he’s young. and let’s not forget Colton cowser wasn’t that good when he got called up last year. I think Holiday just got caught up too early.
It's a mechanical issue and I'm sure he'll figure it out fairly quickly the boy has talent cheering for him to stay at the top level and have a great rookie season....
Bro it’s gotta be psychological too right? I mean this kid has never struggled in his career yet. This has probably his only obstacle. He’ll come around!
lol I’m with ya . It usually takes guys 100-150 at bats to kinda start to figure it out . The movement is just plain night and day compared to what you see in the minors
This guy has a point but theres more to it I believe, hes standing on one leg ( Kerry Carpenter started doing this at the end of last year and has been mostly a mess ever since)., Ted Williams loved balance not standing on one leg, and hes stepping away slightly which is part of what the analyst is saying, And at times hes hitting with his weight literally on his right ankle as his ankle is rolled over, this look horrible and dangerous, and I disagree about the hand position being good. To me hes restricted. His success at AAA is nothing , MLB is two levels higher.
Hopefully he can get the timing down sooner or later.. without that, the front foot will continue to be late.. blow open.. and cause the bat to lag through the zone
Of course not He's showing it right now And if Im the Os Im really careful This is a kid has probably has never failed at baseball and unless he's got an incredibly evolved mind at age 20, I say give him time in AAA Yes! The most exciting thing i saw about this kid was the highlights of him hitting it to left field yet still having some pop in his bat He's not doing that anymore
They won’t fix anything for a certain amount of games . That’s pretty standard across the league ., they allow a player to do what got them there and then watch tape after 10-20 games and then make adjustments
