Gunner hands down. The strikeouts and sacrifices come down to coaching. Arguably steals can't be compared with the new rules vs old rules.

True , though Gunnar is faster

@PigTownSports I think the triples make that clear. I was just basically saying that even if someone broke Ricky Henderson's record... you'd need an asterisk beside it, because rules are so much different now.

Gunnar for sure.. Reminds me of HOF'rs Robin Yount & Charlie Hustle..If there's a difference in arm strength it's a subtle one.. Love to see him get that avg up around .285/.290..As always, good stuff.. GO O'S BABY

@PigTownSports to be fair, that's a reflection of modern baseball as a whole... hit a hr or don't... very little effort seems to be put into small ball and gap hitting.

Damn skanks are playing outta their minds.. Gotta get that team avg & ob% up..I remember Buck's team leading the league in hr's but team avg & ob% was bad and wound up losing in the playoffs because they struggled to produce runs without hrs..If he gets that avg up maybe he moves to the 3/4 hole and gets more rbi opportunities..

Am I allowed to say Gunnar Henderson? Just solely based off the fact that he doesn't come across as a selfish prick like Manny always has I'm sorry I have always questioned Manny machado's passion for the game of baseball and there were a lot of plays where he seemingly took the play off in my opinion

Idk if Manny’s problem was lack of a love of the game… but he definitely had a great love for himself and it was obvious. Not to mention Manny is a dirty bird sometimes. I can’t see Gunn-show disrespecting the game that way. Hands down Gunnar

Because the organization has no options for CF after Mullins . Who’s turning 30 and declining . So instead of having a guy not really prepped to play CF .. or go spend money on a FA .. they can move Holliday there and not have to worry about CF for the next 6-10 years . Just like they did with Adam Jones when he was a Shortstop. I’d say that move panned out really well

I had watched Westburg in AAA. He had a certain approach that reminded me of a train. When it is running, either get out of the way or get run over. I think he worked on finding his way in 2023 - how to do that in the big leagues with the much more advanced pitching, strategy and faster game. And now, I see that same “train” aspect again. Anytime he is at the plate, it’s like a gunshot waiting to hit the bullseye.
@selfwitness
@selfwitness 10 дней назад
I never would have thought of that, but you make perfect sense with this idea. Getting Robert also would be great, but I don’t think they would be able sign him after his term is up because of the wall (unless that is brought slightly in during the upcoming renovations). But obviously something has to be done. There is a bigger and bigger “cognitive dissonance” appearing with the vets in the outfield (with all respect) and the young guns.

I personally am not shocked at all by this breakout of Westburg. Honestly what shocked me more was how much people were talking about. Oh he's going to be the odd man out. He's going to be the guy that gets traded for a pitcher. I always thought as much as I feel like we may need to move a prospect for bullpen help or starting rotation help. I never thought Westburg should be that guy simply because Westburg is that guy

I read fan opinions where they make suggestions for essentially selling the farm. Elias will never do it, and he shouldn't. In my opinion, the only trades Elias will make is going to be using aging talent. He'll save money to extend excellent youth and hold on to what he spent years building. I think you'd see Mounty, Santander, Mullins, and/or Hays go before any of the young guys. You are going to see internal growth for a long time and making the smart moves where older players headed to the twilight of their career get moved. Elias is not as stupid as Cashman. There will be no more Chris Davis contracts under him. I hate to see veterans go, but it just makes sense. So... I like the idea of Holliday moving to a position that gets vacated by a veteran through trade. It is painful, but it is also the right move.
@PigTownSports
@PigTownSports 4 дня назад
Yah after Mullins there really isn’t an option internally to fill CF .. and with him struggling .. without this move they need to acquire another veteran

I kind of agree with you--you don't want to move a guy with a weak arm to the OF--esp. CF. Now Holliday might not have a weak arm but he sure doesn't have an CF arm. Maybe LF? They need a lot of range in LF in Balto.

Everyone has been clamoring for Coby Mayo to make the big leagues, but he'll have to wait as long as Mounty is up in Baltimore. Mayo's defense is poor compared to Ryan's stellar play at first base, plus he's already proven he can hit in the MLB. Question is, do we trade Mayo due to him being blocked by Westburg at Third Base and Mounty at First?
@PigTownSports
@PigTownSports 12 дней назад
With mayo being so young and powerful , I would hold on as long as I could . Even with a block
@jerryjones188
@jerryjones188 12 дней назад
Man, I am going to have to disagree with you. There is no hole in Centerfield. Nobody gets the jumps on a ball like Cedric does. I see base hits get robbed by him all the time. He's made some pretty impressive assists with that arm of his after recognizing his accuracy needed improvement. Maybe you have some stats to prove me wrong, but I think Cedric is faster or just as fast as Jackson. Cedric has struggled for a significant time at the plate last year and this year, but I have confidence he will figure things out eventually. He's a worker and will contribute mightily to the team this season in my opinion. If Jackson does not have the arm to be at third base, then I don't see him having the arm to be an outfielder and am not sure he could even give Cedric a run for his money arm-wise. Jackson needs improvement at second base, but that is expected. With his talent, he'll make it happen. I enjoyed your take, I just disagree with it.
@PigTownSports

I’m mainly looking at life after Cedric . Don’t have anyone else , and if he stays on his current pace , I wouldn’t expect them to resign him . Would be nice with the INF depth , to have a little security blanket

This is a terrible take. We're full of prospects in both the outfield and in. Stowers, Kjerstad, Cowser, Mayo, can all play the outfield. Still have hays and Santander. I agree that Mullins isn't a gonna be that guy again, but he's not bad enough to transition Holliday into his slot. Also the reason Jackson is at 2nd is because his arm wouldn't even play at third, let alone center.
@PigTownSports

You don’t really need an arm in CF , hense why most CFs don’t throw well .. and none of those guys you mention can remotely run CF .. they don’t even want cowser doing it .. and he’s a CF his entire life .
