An ex Jackson state player tells the truth about Jackson State, lack of resources, and the impact of having coach prime as his coach #prime #coachprime #deionsanders #jacksonstate #colorado
I can not for the life of me figure out why some of you are so adamant about tearing down a man you never even met. Everything Deion touched in Jackson he made better and he left your school and community better than he left it. He left the blueprint. Left your organization in capable hands. Who there isn’t going to leave when he now commands at least a 166 million dollar 10 year deal based on 4 games in Colorado. And he took coaches with him that also elevated their families. Ppl gotta stop this crab in the barrel mentality
@@taronyoung5768 here go these weirdo comments. Ppl can’t think of intelligent things to say so they say dumb shyt trying to be different. Next time just create your own comment so ignorant shyt like this doesn’t distract from the common sense message
The 2nd or 3rd poorest states of all the USA, no offense but misery, is usually taught and passed on like generational curse of some sort, this acceptance of being poverty stricken and the lie of there's no escape....very sad and quite truthful....
What that has to do with Jackson state how many Alabama alumni are still in Tuscaloosa how many ole miss alumni are still in Oxford don’t worry I’ll wage
@@halfurbanhalfsuburban8219 yall sound dumb just the spotlight alone left JSU with the potential to make tens of millions of dollars…. Yall quick to speak on sht you don’t know
Why do they have better facilities? Last time I checked Jackson State is an institution of higher learning and their academic facilities are better than a lot of PWI’s. HBCU’s have been intentionally underfunded so the money has to go other places and unfortunately before prime, athletics wasn’t a huge administrative priority
@@NPC.JakeGOAT If that's the case, why didn't HBCU as a whole took it upon themselves to change the dynamic of the situation? It's about visions and relationships. And Deion proved that to be the case. Like he said, these "educated" old heads were comfortable in there positions.
This is so true. My son went to a school where they had the best of helmets, idk how many uniforms, white, black, blue, sky blue, red white and blue, pink accents to bring awareness to cancer. We had stem machines, chartered buses, good food...with fresh vegetables and an alumni that supported our HS boys. My son saw some HBCU facilities and cringed. Went to some PWI and the difference is gaping.
So im a baseball coach..that helps kids get to college and the pros. 2007 I had a good HS outfielder that had tons of potential but was still relatively new to the sport. I ended up getting him to Alcorn State for 1 year..he continued to get better..but I told him if you really want a shot at pro ball..you gonna have to play with the best to prove yourself. He eventually ransferred to Miami Dade..got drafted by Texas Rangers in the 9th round....ended up making it to MLB 6 or 7 years later. The HBCUs blacklisted me for years....but the kid had to make the best choice for him and his fam....he ended up making several millions.
Coach Prime is about uplifting the people..he took a lot of people from JSU and give them jobs at a Power5 schools..he be broke if he stays at Jackson cause he has huge heart...great interview..bless this young man.
I watch Bucky's videos, and some players who transferred to Colorado with Sanders are so grateful for the opportunity and exposure to better. They have never seen mountains or have been treated so well. Exposure to excellence is pushing them to play harder and better. They can now taste and see that the quality of life they want is attainable. That's a blessing! ❤
We continually pray for ALL of our youngmen and women 🙏. Believing the BEST for them. I wonder, what would it actually be for your blacks,if funding was fair for HBCU'S and our athletic programs were once a separated 🤔. The most important thing is to ENCOURAGE them to EXCELLENT in the classroom. Please, share with them the percentage actually going PRO and providing for them families and their personal FUTURE.
This brother is extremely intelligent and perceptive. I see nothing wrong with anything he said. This was key, " What player doesn't want to play for a coach who let's you be yourself?!" Great conversation full of FACTS!!! #Prime #HBCUs
FACTS…he said he delivered on his promises. Look at their current facilities. The young man said they ate better. Remember how he responded to the water crisis. I ❤ it!

Man stop it! Why don’t you reach out! He been mentoring kids his whole life he was at JSU 3 years revolving door! Like any educational institutions! Or fall camp
If you know HBCUs you already KNOW. I personally know about HBCU's business practices!! We need to elevate. Why would the slow barber ask if Prime is a good coach? That's a misnomer!!! He kept trying to get young blood to say something negative. No one who is paying attention has this barber's mindset!!! Poor brother!!
this young man is going to go far. Coach Prime showed him another level of excellence. we need more coach primes to mentor young men. Good for him. always leave a place better due to your presence.
I understand JSU people wanting to defend their school and affiliation and all that but when are we as a people going to start holding our institutions accountable? I have not seen one actually point out how the school fumbled a golden opportunity but will attack Deion left and right. We need to start operating like blue blood schools. Generate funds out of the state funding you get
You are proving the exact point that defenders of HBCUs and JSU are making, no matter what this guy says it’s seen as 100% correct even though he was only there for a few months after prime got there. And he’s also not making CONCRETE allegations … and whenever anyone checks the allegations and debunks it…then the are called delusional and prime haters but in fact all they are doin is properly defending their institutions
They wasn’t ready for the level of accountability he brought and the structure he brought. Plus Prime said himself they didn’t make good on tickets sales over 30k. If they did it wasn’t done in a timely manner.
Exactly. Deion did what was best for him, his family and for black head coaches as a hole. Jsu took advantage of deion and he was robbed and his son was robbed. Alot of crime in jackson but nobody talks about that.
Not just Jackson State University, but all colleges and universities can learn from Coach Prime. I believe Jackson State will serve its institution better if it would express gratitude and appreciation for what Coach Prime did and continues to do for Jackson State. They can capitalize greater if they begin to duplicate Coach Prime standards for excellence rather than speaking ill of a man for making decisions that only a man could make. In addition, JSU should realize that Coach Prime’s story of success as a coach cannot be told without putting JSU in the spotlight. What Coach Prime gave to JSU can be multiplied many times over every year indefinitely. It would be stupid to not capitalize off that. It's the spirit of non-gratitude and unappreciation that will tear down the gains that have and can continue to be made without him being at the institution. And, it's okay to fire those who cannot align themselves to the future of JSU, but dig their heels in the sand demanding to be stuck.
You all take the fact that we defend ourselves against lies as having something against Coach Prime. We are better today because of Coach Prime being at JSU and we appreciate that. Just like Coach Prime appreciates JSU and he has said that. However, if people continue to spread lies, we will continue to defend ourselves. In about two years, we wont have to worry about this dialogue because all of you will see what this was really all about.
I've never heard JSU talk bad about him. Are you talking about trolls, bots, some fans? Don't group an entire school/administration in this mess. That's like saying "all black men are violent thugs". Stop grouping all black people, institutions, together.
@@jsutigers8954 How many people do you know get cut by a coach, But still understand he wasn't fitting in with the plan. He admitted Dion was real and he at some point was not real with his own self !
Love this interview ❤ Cause I hate how they're trying to just down Coach Prime. He's number 1 in my eyes. Because no matter what he takes good care of the team ❤️
I’m am not American. I played in MEAC. This description of Athletic program for HBCU is on point !!! NOW … thank God Coach Prime is spearheading this movement. Believe me this is more than football. We as black ppl need to look deeper into situations and support the leaders with the talent to fight the system we are pretending is not there. Any negro not supporting this is a klansman.
I am with you. Jackson State University leaders were not trying to improve and rise up. Prime exspect excellence, and they were still in that old mentality. He was trying to show them how to change and navigate the school to a better institution, but they were never on the same page with Prime. This man has a brilliant mind. Look at what he has done in Colorado in less than a year. He was on that same tenacity at Jackson State, but they wouldn't move forward. Instead, they want to remain still and continue to do everything the old way. So don't blame Coach Prime. Instead of pointing the finger at Coach Prime, I suggest the administration take a deep look at themselves. If you don't want better, you want do better. Prime left a blueprint to follow. Instead of using what he left, they go right back to the old mentality and want to point the finger. Prime has moved on, so the question is what is the administration going to do to move JSU FORWARD!
Can we stop with this BS! You had PEOPLE saying things on both sides ! They both are wrong and this is what the PWI’s wants! Not to see us do well and here we go! Falling into their BS and attacking one another!
@@jimmygross3304 to be honest JSU is busy doing JSU stuff minding it’s own business and not saying anything about coach but they have no choice but to defend itself against lies…. Your reputation is very important when moving forward with building partnerships, recruiting and so forth … JSU has nothing but love for coach but we have to defend ourselves from the media lies
It’s awesome to hear a first hand account that Deion Sanders is the real deal. I think he has the chance to effect some change in college football. I’m a huge fan of him and his teams. I really appreciate that he’s not shy about his relationship with the Lord and it shows in everything he does.
Underpaid where? Deion made 1.5 Million dollars while he was at JSU making him the highest paid coach in the entire FCS while he was at JSU with ZERO prior head coaching experience is anybody even trying to do research?
@@NPC.JakeGOAT Oh you mean the 1.2 million for 4 years, that was supposed to include incentives for ticket sales that he never got? Yes sir he had to pay his assistant coaches out of that. He made an executive decision for his son. At JSU not one NFL scout would put a first round grade on him. With the national exposure i guarantee you shadeur will get exactly that a first round draft selection and we all know if he performs just average he will sign his second contract worth at least 50 million a year when that time comes.
Coach Prime speaks about being disciplined with character. This young man has character. For the short period of time time he met Coach Prime, something positive did rub off on him. I love Deion Sanders and I love this young man.Thank you for being honest and forthright in delivering your opinion of coach Prime
Great interview with a man who is a former student and football player under Coach Deion Sanders. This man loves Jackson State, he saw up close the interactions between Jackson St President, AD and other administrators and staff. Coach Prime was a godsend to Jackson St and Jackson St was a godsend to Deion. Both benefitted greatly from their relationship. I hope the Jackson St family appreciate that moment and the outsiders wish the best for both.
@jsutigers8954 he said he was only there for the spring. However, the fact that he got cut & still can speak highly of prime time speaks volumes. He admitted several times that being young he didn't meet Coach Prine's standard of excellence in mindset & deed nor the standard of effort.
Respect for this for young brother. A man from Jackson speaking his truth. Words even us in NY were saying defending Primes decision. Dope interview! I'm subscribing now.
I went to Alabama A&M a HBCU.. and it was a crazy experience.. I love my old school but they didn't do nothing on time. They charged us for 5 years for a facility that wasn't even built. It didn't get built untill almost 10 years later.
I see some people didn't actually watch the video because it doesn't bash Coach Prime at all. I don't mind the clickbait title either because it was a great video and the player is telling the truth.

None of that had any thing to do with anything ..coach prime was going to be difficult to manage for several more years being that his value is one that exceeds a valuation worth 100s of millions. How????.....that dude got CUT by Deion after JSU'S Covid Spring Season....transferred to Mississippi Valley.....u all believe everything that's a False JSU Narrative
It's nothing wrong with the fact that HBCUs aren't big schools; there are low-level FCS schools or D2, and a lot of PWIs have facilities that look the same.deion is stupid you can't put HBCU in power five conference that won't be good for them they don't have the money to compete
what freedom getting truth did he state? about how the HBCUs mess their students around? Deion knew when he went to JSU that they were not well funded. CU was the ONLY P5 school that knocked on Deion's door. This is a 4-5 year question, is this going to work. He has won a couple of games he was thought he wouldnt, and he has given up a TON of points on Defense. His 2024 recruiting class is ranked 81 in the country. Appalachian States is 20 positions higher. He has had all year to recruit and only has 8 commits for next year. Look, we have all seen people that run their mouth and dont back it up, they were 1-11 last year, he could have taken that team and won 4-5 games this year just because they would have been one year better, getting 51 transfers if they dont win at least 7 games, no, im not impressed. His recruiting speaks to his abilities and that is NOT happening this year. Im giving him a 6-6 season and for Deion and how he talks, that aint much. You heard him say after Oregon, you better get me now.. Why didnt he say that the week before? Because he got taken to 2OT by a mid major and that was almost a worse result than Oregon. USC, no defense, TCU no defense, Nebraska, 4 turnovers by a QB that had 8 in 2 games and then got benched after CU. Im looking for a statement win, i dont see one. not yet and he has 4 hard games ahead of him, again 6-6 isnt amazing to me.
Great concept video, you should expand these interviews outside of Prime as well. Think it'd be cool to listen and watch different insights on life on different subject matter, appreciate the content!
This was an amazing interview, and definitely provided a lot of insight. While I’ve never attended a HBCU, I do host a pre-draft show January through April, and I’ve interviewed quite a few people from multiple HBCUs trying to get into the league and one player that stands out to me, specifically is Demontario Anderson of Texas Southern, and after our interview, he told me that they messed up on his stats when reporting them to ESPN and also sent him to a pro camp where NFL scouts were just to NOT send his pads with him. Mind you, Demontario Anderson was literally one of the best edge rushers in this last year‘s draft, and because of the unorganization of Texas, Southern, he never went drafted
Well said, young man. Go Coach Prime. Older people might think that Deion should be more like the great Eddie Robinson, different day and different time.
Thanks for an insightful, thorough representation of an honest perspective on the JSU/Coach Prime situation. Bottom line; Prime has spent his years coming from H.S. to the pros becoming familiar and aware of the "money/marketing trends" and what's possible! He is THE PIONEER of the sports world to transcend POWER PARTICIPATION. So, not Jordan, Mayweather, Bob Johnson, or even Magic Johnson has done what Prime has done because HE'S DOING HIS CLOSE DOOR DEALINGS IN THE LIGHT where the hate and manipulation can't underpin him!
Thank you, sir, for posting this segment. I've been wanting this type of post supporting Coach Prime. It's time for the hate from Jackson to stop. It's not all but some.

Deion is a polarizing figure. You love him or you hate him. That hate is indiscriminate. Black Coaches hated on him when he was in the SWAC. Now white and black coaches hate him in the Power 5. Black folks at HBCU'S loved him until he didn't meet their unrealistic expectations. Then his own people turned on him. He could have came out and bad mouthed HBCU'S but he didn't. His 3 years at JSU speak for him. Thank the man and wish him well. Use his blueprint and examples instead of hating on him.
For one, no one had a problem with Deion leaving for a better opportunity. Deion was the one who went to JSU and said "God sent me here" and " I'm here to level the playing field" He also was interviewing for power 5 jobs from the moment he was hired at JSU with TCU being one of the jobs he interviewed for in the Fall of 2021. JSU alumni only RESPOND to the misinformation as if JSU did not treat him fairly or did not pay him which is false.
@Unstoppable25 he did level the playing field for the season he was there. His season was up, and he left as GOD told him, and he's being blessed for his obedience. Now, if you want get down to it we can talk about the notorious mismanagement of school funds and NSF grants. Investigations and settlements for misappropriation of funds, etcetera. Deion never claimed he would single handedly fix everything dealing with HBCU'S. He's a football coach people. You're expectations of him "leveling the playing field " were unrealistic.
@@TackleNTravel Deion was interviewing for power 5 jobs before and EARLY DURING his " God sent me here" rhetoric. And yes please eleborate on all of this mismanagement of funds that happened at JSU that I somehow missed in the news being that I am a JSU graduate and have followed JSU for YEARS. Please elaborate lol
@Unstoppable25 you went to JSU and don't know the history of their financial misconducts??? It's public record. I'll give you a snippet from 2017 after former president Carolyn Myers resigned. " Jackson, Miss - Jackson State University (JSU) agreed to pay the United States $1.17 million to settle allegations that JSU mismanaged National Science Foundation (NSF) Grants, announced U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis and Allison Lerner, Inspector General at the National Science Foundation" (Read the entire press release) If I was Deion I would have never came to that institution knowing its history of taking funds allotted for students. Interviews or not Deion gave 3 years to JSU. JSU was never his final destination. He never said he would be there any longer than he stayed. Show me proof that he did that...i will wait lol
This video needs to go to all coach Prime hatters. Thank you for making this video and letting everyone who’s didn’t know what coach Prime tried to do for Jackson State.
When I first moved to Dallas, I couldn't believe the amount of $$$ the school districts spent on high school stadiums. I love my people, but we should stop making excuses for some HBCU institutions. Asking our leaders to do better doesn't mean we don't support or are talking down on the schools.
This is why white people think we're stupid, and some of you are. HBCU aren’t FBS .HBCU are FCS D1 and D2. A lot of those PWI schools at those levels have facilities that look like high school; HBCU aren't power five so it's ok
