They had a barge on the other side so we woulda had to do a tug boat landing but or break down and make up on the other side but then the barge would be flaying down the river so it was to risky
That is a strong current. I grew up @ red bouy 48 west of Fulton Cut (Dames Point). I watched lots of ships, tugs, barges, shrimpers navigate the river. You know its strong when you have to run almost WOT on a 70hp outboard to keep from drifting back out to the ocean.
Yeah that’s some insane current in my 4 years of experience wich isn’t alot but enough to have solid experience this was the first time the current out powered out 4k hp boat along with a 1k dredge tender boat
Hey man im just wondering, how do you think this job market would treat a 30 year old man with no skills but a decent work ethic and no problems pissing in a cup? I'm trying to get away from wildland firefighting since the feds expect us to do that shit for free practically speaking, i'm from AZ though ive only been on a boat like 4 times 😂
@@ufc990 I don’t see why not man if your in work shape I mean I’m a heavier guy but I don’t have any problems moving or getting around and quite honestly it’s not to physically demanding as people think just alot of fairly heavy equipment but if you were a fire fighter I’m confident you’ll have no problem man

@@ufc990 we usally get a day rate but some tug companies do offer and hourly rate but tje 3 companies I’ve worked at were a day rate honestly I wouldn’t take anything less than 250 a day and after about 2 years you can get your Ab unlimited and make safely around 350 a day depending on where your working and your certifications you it’s possible to make about 425 a day just as a deck hand now captains make anywhere from 600-800 $ a day it’s a long process but well worth it
@@ufc990 ah it’s basically just a document given by the coast guard it’s like there version of a Twic card wich you will also need btw it’s mainly for identification but once’s you get certifications they will appear in your mmc or red book (merchant marine credential)
