They're lovely! Embossing adds an extra dimension to the napkins - mine can look a bit lifeless sometimes, especially if the background is a light colour. These are quality! Thanks for sharing 💖
Thank u. These r all beautiful napkin cards. I love the butterfly card best. I would get napkins that u don't care about the pattern on it at first & practice with those. Then when u feel u Have the technique down use the more beautiful napkins. Have a great, blessed, victorious day.
Loved the tutorial, I've never thought of embossing a napkin before, what a great idea. Such a beautiful napkin and all of your cards came out so lovely, will have to try that technique out. Thanks for sharing x
Lovely cards! I've made napkin cards but never thought to run them thru an embossing folder. That takes them up a notch and I'll be trying that today! Thank you.
Just beautiful! My grandmother showed me how to use napkins to decorate flower pots many years ago. All of your cards are stunning! I love the iridescent card.Thank you for sharing your process in making them.
Oh. My. Gosh! You are brilliant and your cards beautiful. I always bypass napkins, but no more. Subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your creativity. Thank you for sharing!
Jackie, love these cards. I've been making napkin cards this weekend. But different than the way you do. I will be giving your way a try, love the look. Thank you for some great ideas.
Great cards. ❤ I have hundreds of napkins from when I was doing decoupage with a vengeance! I think the way you make larger cards with the borders shows them up very well. I have only done smaller cards and they are a little bit "ordinary". I'll try giving larger sizes a go. 😍
These are absolutely beautiful. The gnomes are my favourite, and I have never seen anything like them. You are so natural at explaining things. You would think that you have been doing this for years. I also like that the videos are shorter. Already looking forward to the following tutorial.
You have gotten me so inspired that I am going to start looking for some napkins to make cards with! I know creating with napkins is not a new idea but it will be new for me. Thank you so much for your informative videos❣
You make it look so easy! I like how simple the design is and how the finished product has the napkin so smooth. All the other videos using napkins has them wrinkly, which is also pretty, but it's nice to see this option. Thank you!! 🌸
Yes, I don't like wrinkly napkin application, but this is a splendid idea💡... I don't make cards but I do art journal. Will have to source some double - stick sheets 👌🥰
Connie, not planned yet but will do in due course. If you put in RU-vid you should find lots of tutorials on just heat embossing comes up to help until I get one done for you x
Thank you and the red border is simply matts and layers. I started by placing a red layer of mirror card on top of the actual card base. Then I added a layer of white finishing with another layer of red before adding the napkin layer. The layers were each on this occasion a half an inch smaller, whereas I would usually make the layers quarter of an inch difference. I have to admit to what some say is a waste of the mirror card and some people are known to ‘gut’ the card by cutting the middle bit out where it can’t be seen, but I choose not to do this. I have just started a fb group where people can go to get this sort of help from me and this can be found under the pretty paper crafts name. Until now the group has not really been ready which is why it has not been promoted on my RU-vid channel, but hopefully that will be done this week. Incidentally my latest napkin fold cards tutorial is going on RU-vid later this week. Thank you again x
I love these, thank you for sharing a wonderful technique for using all those beautiful napkins (or serviettes in NZ 😊 ) we see. I am enjoying your tutorials xx 🌺
Thank you so much for your kind comments. We in the UK also call them serviettes but I think nationally they are known as napkins lol. So pleased you are still enjoying the tutorials, I know I’ve a way to go but I will persevere x
Thank you ever so much for this way of using napkins on cards. Most want you to use paste over the top. I live in a very tiny apartment and I have a cat. There is no place I can put a paste version without him getting into it! I had to buy a glass house so any plants I want survive! lol Though I did find out this is a great idea as the florist told me that some plants can make or kill your pets!
Thank u so very much. I learned some things from u 2day. I have been paper crafting 4 years. I have not seen videos where u can emboss with an embossing folder & then heat emboss on top of the embossing folder impressions. That is so cool. With having double sided tape down on the card doesn't it cause the napkin 2 stick 2 it while u r trying 2 smooth out the napkin with a gift card? U r doing an awesome job with your cards u r making on video. Keep it up. Have a great blessed, victorious day.
For some reason, the napkin seems to stay in place, the first time I tried this I was expecting the same result as you. But it works as long as you take your time. Thank you for your lovely feedback x
I used and iron to make a paper napkin card .. was not a fan of this style. Wow so much easier and for sure will be looking for double sided tape and try again. Beautiful cards.
Can you show how you made the whole card. The foiled frames on the first one has me confused. Your cards are beautiful. I would love to make one that pretty
Connie, they aren’t actually foiled frames, they are just matts and layers on top of the card base then the actual finished piece is mounted on the top of them x
1:44 A small piece of sticky tape, attach it to the back of the napkin, will speed up the removal of the layers...carefully of course ;-) If that seems too risky, dampen forefinger and thumb and gently rub them on a corner...I think the cards all look fantastic.
Lovely! I’m going to try this! What is the name and brand of the napkin? And what is that lovely embossing folder. I think I see an umbrella and I love it!
Sorry, this particular napkin I purchased from our local garden centre gift shop, and I don’t have a brand name. Good luck when you make some yourself x
I really liked the glitter. So are you putting embossing glue over the whole front, then embossing powder or glitter on it. Heating. Then sending through the embossing folder? Not 100% sure how you are heat embossing these. I'm familiar with heat embossing, but usually just an image or stamp. Haven't done a whole front. Thanks for any help.
Because I embossed the card first with an embossing folder it is then raised in selective places, then when I add the embossing glue and glitter, it keeps the glue in those raised areas. Why don’t you join my Facebook group under Pretty Paper Crafts, then I can give you more personal advice x
Thank you for a great video, well done and well explained directions. Can you please tell me where you got the embossing folder you used or the company that makes it? Thank you 6:54
I will definitely try this method, the results are beautiful. I didn’t understand the ‘heat emboss’ reference. I am guessing that you are using versamark ink on the raised areas of embossing, adding embossing powder, then heat with a heat gun. Is that correct?
My only suggestion is to change the name of the video (if you can), so more people will be able to search & find this great technique. I've noticed you have video titles on your other ones. I'm not a RU-vid creator, so it's just a suggestion. I'm not sure if it's possible. Loved this... Off to watch your others 🥰❤️
Thank you so much, I will certainly see if I can, I’m not really sure what else I can call it because this is what the technique is called lol. Would welcome any suggestions x
I am one of "those" people. These cards are beautiful. Are they all actually napkins? Are the gnomes a 1/4 of a napkin or fussy cut out? I am curious, you said you heat embossed with clear powder on the first floral card. How did you apply the embossing glue base? Nice video!
Hello, firstly, yes they’re all napkins. The gnome cards are 8”x 8” and the napkin is again 1/4 of a napkin. The napkin I used for the demo is still 1/4 of one but the napkin is a much smaller one than the gnome one. I embossed first with an embossing folder through the die cut machine, then used an embossing pad over the top of the pattern that was created, sprinkled with the powder, then used the heat tool. Hope this helps, never be afraid to ask a question, that’s how we learn. Thanks for your compliment I have a long way to go lol x
Thank you. One more question pls. When you applied the embossing pad to the napkin were you able to swipe the pad over the area or did you need to tap it around until the surface was covered? I like this technique but their is not alot of videos on it & everyone uses different materials. I love the full designed napkins but never see them when shopping. Do you have a special source to get them?
Thank you for the video your cards are lovely. I am not understanding what you mean when you say you "heat emboss". My understanding is heat embossing uses powders and a heat gun. Please could you explain. Thank you
The reason I said heat emboss was to divide up 2 different embossing techniques. The first one I used was the folder technique where you sandwich the piece between a plastic folder and put through a die cut machine. Many would leave it there, but I then added what I term the heat emboss technique, whereby as you say using powders and then a heat gun. It’s pretty with both don’t you think. I hope this helps x
@@jackyd6194 how did you attach the red edgings of the cards. A full tutorial of how to make the card. All the steps including your outer attachments would be great
@@sonyabunkum6212 Sonya, I am planning on making a video on the principal of the layers but because I’m hoping to keep all my tutorials to less than ten minutes I don’t think it’s possible to complete it from scratch x
