My tribute to great chinese martial artist, actor and director Jacky Wu Jing (吴京) Music: The Crystal Method - Weapons of Mass Distortion Мой трибьют китайскому мастеру боевых искусств, актеру и режиссеру Джеки Ву Джину
Another one who deserves much much more... Soooo talented! To me, his _magnus opus_ so far is *_Fatal Contact_* , where he shows all his versatility fight-wise (that "elbow dance" against Andy On is a magnificence! The choreo Tony Jaa always want to create) and to top it off, his acting is excellent too. Another notable Jing's work is *_Legendary Assassin_* , his debut on direction, where he uses kicks a lot, in an ingenious manner, other than another experiments; Love him too on *_Tai Chi II_* , *_Drunken Monkey_* , and *_SPL 1 and 2_* .
I know some movies that this guy was in 1. Shaolin (The New Shaolin Temple) 2. Legendary Assassin 3. Fatal Contact 4. Fatal Move (Triad Wars) 5. Invisible Target 6. SPL: Kill Zone 7. SPL 2: A Time For Consequences 8. Wolf Warriors 9. Tai Chi Boxer (Tai Chi 2) I think that's all I remember
he was great in the wu jing taichi series. so much better than most of the action crap around. he is both a cool guy and a superb martial artist. nice tribute.
Jackie Chan was a much better innovator than him and his action comedy simply sold better to the audience all over the world. Donnie Yen was just at the right place at the right time. He was already good partners with director Wilson Yip before Ip Man, with titles like Dragon Tiger Gate and Kill Zone, and when Wilson Yip couldn't afford the likes of Jet Li or Jackie Chan for Ip Man, Donnie Yen offered a much, much lower price, and film blew up. Before Ip Man, Donnie Yen wasn't famous at all and was probably even less famous than Wu Jing today, although he was a pretty good fight choreographer, and made himself a name in that area.
@recyclebin23 I didn't know Wilson wanted to use Jackie or Jet for Yip Man. Oh lord... I literally can't and don't want to imagine anyone else portraying Yip Man - Donnie was immaculate with his performance, his aura was just perfect for that iteration of the legendary sifu. I mean that with no disrespect to the other two legendary artists, but their presence just wouldn't have hit the right notes with Yip Man. They have such different energy they bring into roles, and it would have vastly transformed the portrayal. I can't imagine Donnie was less famous than Jing - at least not within Hong Kong itself. Donnie was well known for his skills among the HK film makers and MMAs. I think Wu Jing's fame is only not as big in the West (which was Donnie's case until Yip Man), but he remained a huge artist in Asia from early on in his career. Like Jing, Donnie was very well known among other martial artists and within HK film. I'd say Donnie and Jing were probably more or less on the same level as far as fame goes, until Yip Man. I love Jing because he embodies a lot of the older generations' spirit. Not only did he come from a generational martial arts family, but he also clearly respected and learned from his elders which he had the honor of working with in his long career: Sammo, Jackie, Jet and Donnie being among those. I really hope we get more incredible artists like Jing - who carry the essence of the previous generations - in the future generation of martial artists.
I can sympathize with Wu Jing of wanting to be HERO for your own peoples...but theres a 'BUT' in it.. It just sad and tragic that an ASIAN embraced a wrong ideology and totally trashed his own country and people to the point where the peoples have no connection to each others...to his community...to the land...and to the whole society as a whole...his being and identity is totally destroyed...this causation totally wipeout his sense of righteousness...thus this led him to an endless soul searching. Just sad...totally sad!! Somehow he can followed directions from an European...how about be master his own domain, NAH!
